The tea that is the failed acquisition of iRobot by Amazon must not have been too scalding, because Amazon still has a soft spot for Roomba deals.

On and off throughout the year, Amazon drops prices on top Roombas (among other competitive robot vacuums) by up to 50%, whether that's during a shopping holiday like Black Friday or during a random week.

Prime Day certainly isn't random, and though the lead-up was a bit dry, Roomba deals have come out in full force as of July 16, offering savings of up to 50%. It's officially Prime Day, and after Walmart's underwhelming robot vacuum deals during Walmart+ Week, we're counting on Amazon to deliver the goods. We're confident they will, as Amazon is typically the best place to find robot vacuums on sale throughout the year, whether it's a shopping holiday or a random Tuesday in September when your current corded vacuum sends you over the edge.

Despite ditching its plans to buy iRobot, Amazon is still the best retailer to find a Roomba on sale, slashing its prices by 25% and 50% throughout the year. We manifested those same Roombas to reach new record-low pricing as Prime Day nears — and our wishes came true. The Roomba Combo j9+ dropped below $800 — its best price ever.

We're also hoping that Prime Day leads to new all-time low prices on other premium robot vacuums released at CES 2024 in January. Amazon loves to keep things in the family on Prime Day: Discounts on its in-house lines of gadgets are plentiful and steep during the retail giant's annual members-only sale. This is especially true for its Alexa-enabled Echo smart home devices and wearables, which frequently enjoy Prime Day deals exceeding the half-off mark. New year-round lows are not uncommon.

With Prime Day 2024 now live through Wednesday, July 17, Amazon is in peak form. The just-announced Echo Spot smart alarm clock is on sale for the first time with Prime, while all styles of the third-generation Echo Frames are sitting at all-time low prices (again, only for Prime members). One of them comes with a free Echo Pop, too.

Most notably, the second-gen Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation have hit a new record-low of $34.99 for Team Prime — a 71% discount on their usual retail price of $119.99. Amazon is advertising other (smaller) Prime Day device discounts across its site, but shoppers can go ahead and ignore those, apparently.

Amazon Prime Day is officially here. While there were plenty of early deals, we've been waiting for Prime Day proper to see the deals on Amazon devices — Kindles especially. However, now that the deals are here, they're...okay. Don't get us wrong, the deals are good, but we have seen better — especially on other tablets right now. You can find all discounts marked down, but none are at their lowest price ever. However, if you're itching for an e-reader, a Kindle is still the best.

As much as we love the feel of physical books, a Kindle just makes more sense nowadays, especially if you like to read on the go, read between books before you finish them, or have a back-up book on deck. There hasn't been a new Kindle model since the 2022 entry-level Amazon Kindle refresh, so we'd love to expect greater discounts than ever before. The base model (8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) has dropped to a record-low $849 for Prime Day with the help of an on-page coupon. That makes it a 23% price drop. On any given day, Amazon's best laptop deals include some markdowns on Apple MacBooks... and not much else. The retail giant lists a lot of older and/or discontinued PCs that aren't super worth it. Amazon also has a penchant for inflating sticker prices, making discounts look steeper than they really are.

Those factors, combined with the heavy presence of sketchy third-party sellers among Amazon's laptop listings, make it one of the worst places to buy a laptop on the internet (again, unless you're shopping for MacBooks). We usually recommend shopping at Best Buy or going directly to the manufacturer's online store instead.

The fine print here is that Amazon usually gets its act together for major savings events, including its flagship Prime Day sale (set for July 16 and 17). When such sales are live, it's way easier to find heftier discounts on new laptops shipped and sold by Amazon itself — though it still behooves savvy shoppers to cross-check prices elsewhere, just in case.

After a couple of weeks of lousy early Prime Day laptop deals from Amazon, those hefty discounts have finally appeared on the first day of its sale. (Best Buy's Black Friday in July sale might've been the motivation it needed.) Amazon's usual selection of MacBook Airs and Pros have all hit record-low prices, while a handful of clamshell and 2-in-1 LG gram laptops are $300 to $500 off for the Windows crew. For shoppers in search of a budget gaming laptop, a range of PCs from Acer and Asus are on sale for $500 to $1,200.

Twelve-hundred bucks is also the exact amount of the highest Prime Day laptop discount I've spotted so far: A Razer Blade 15 from last year is marked down from $2,799.99 to $1,599.99 for Prime members. It comes with a free copy of Black Myth: Wukong, too.

For those in the market for a new fitness tracker or smartwatch, Amazon Prime Day is the time to shop. The mega-retailer tends to drop prices on top brands like Apple, Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung, and more — often to record lows.

Even though the sale officially started today, July 16, we've been tracking the best fitness tracker deals at Amazon for weeks.
