The Apple Watch Series 10, which could potentially be called "Apple Watch X" to celebrate the smartwatch's 10-year-anniversary, is getting several key upgrades, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman via his Power On newsletter.

Gurman claims that users who dig the Apple Watch Ultra's big screen, but don't want to pay Apple Watch Ultra prices, can enjoy a similar display with the next Apple Watch Series inductee. Check out the other features that will reportedly debut on the Apple Watch Series 10.

As mentioned, the 10th-generation Apple Watch will get bigger screen that is as large as the Apple Watch Ultra. Gurman also claims that the Apple Watch Series 10 will have two variants codenamed N217 and N218; both will feature options for a larger panel.

There's also some scuttlebutt that the next Apple Watch will be thinner than the previous model (e.g., Apple Watch Series 9). But overall, there won't be any major design changes, Gurman said.

Finally, the Apple Watch Series 10 is getting a new chip, alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 3, that will "lay the ground work" for compatibility with Apple Intelligence and other AI-powered features.

There have been rumors about Apple possibly adding a blood-pressure sensor and a sleep apnea utility in the Watch 10, but according to Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant has been facing "some serious snags" with these tools.

Although Gurman is a credible source for Apple rumors, we won't know for sure until we hear from the horse's mouth. We expect to see the next Apple Watch very soon, as it will likely debut alongside the iPhone 16 in September.

Max has released a "House of the Dragon" Season 2, episode 4 behind-the-scenes, which shows how the cast and crew made the Battle of Rook's Rest come to life.

North Carolina is introducing digital driver's licenses by summer 2025, with the option being given to residents as a replacement for the traditional, physical license.

Those opting in will have their digital ID stored in a secure app on their phone, as reported by ZDNET. The license will hold all the same information as a physical ID, and can be updated as needed. Some states allow the IDs to be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on a mobile device.

The state joins a growing list of states that have active or developing digital license programs: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, and Utah. A dozen other states are planning to bring the program to life, with programs in early stages of development or soon to be implemented.

Louisiana was the first to introduce the program in 2018, and by 2023, 66 percent of eligible adults opted for a digital ID. The convenience of the ID is likely its broadest appeal, though people may have questions about security. IDScan.net says that these digital IDs require biometric access to set up the feature, and additional verification follows.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is just around the corner, bringing with it new gadgets, more AI integration, and the potential for a big announcement or two. Here's how to watch July 2024's Samsung Galaxy Unpacked.

Like previous years, Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 will be livestreamed on both its official website and YouTube channel (embedded below). The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT on July 10. If this seems early it's because the in-person event is being hosted in Paris, where it will kick off at 3 p.m.

What can we expect at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024?

Samsung has historically used Unpacked to launch new gadgets, and 2024 looks to be no different. First taking place in 2009, the biannual event is dedicated to showcasing Samsung's latest smartphones, tablets, and wearables, featuring keynote talks by the tech giant's executives.

As such, several significant announcements are expected at this month's Unpacked, which will also focus on Samsung's AI integration.

Tech companies are obsessed with AI right now, and Samsung is no exception. We may not see a Samsung AI announcement as significant as January's unveiling of Galaxy AI. Even so, we can definitely expect an update on the suite of generative AI tools.

Samsung has been teasing the "next frontier of Galaxy AI" in the lead up to its mid-year Unpacked event, hinting at further AI integration into its devices. Galaxy AI currently includes features such as Circle to Search, Live Translate, and even Edit Suggestions for photos.

Galaxy Unpacked may also include news on the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Ring — and perhaps even a launch of the finger-sized wearable. Designed to track metrics such as your sleep and heart health, Samsung's smart ring is intended to complement the company's smartwatches rather than replace them.

We've known that Samsung has been developing the Galaxy Ring since it was first teased in January, however July could be the month we're finally told when we can slip it on our fingers. 

Samsung's Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6

Samsung typically refreshes its flip and fold smartphones around July or August, and we have no reason to think 2024 will be an exception. While 2024's first Unpacked focused on Samsung's Galaxy S42 smartphone line (including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24+, and S24), July's event will likely introduce a new generation of foldables: The Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.

Leaks suggest that Samsung's Z Flip 6 will be upgraded to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, putting it on par with the Galaxy S24, as well as a 50MP main camera (up from the Z Flip 5's 12MP). It will also receive a boost to its battery, increasing from 3,700mAh 4,000mAh. 

Performance isn't the only area where we're likely to see improvement, though. Leaked images indicate that both the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 will have slimmer hinges than their predecessors, with Samsung continuing to streamline its foldable devices' hardware.

Galaxy Watch 7

There's also a good chance we'll get some news about Samsung's smartwatches. Leaks late last month revealed that the Galaxy Watch 7 will be available in a 40-millimetre size as well as the colour "Cream," though it's expected that Samsung will offer further options as well. Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 comes in both 40-millimetre and 44-millimetre, and has different colourways.

The Galaxy Watch 7 will also take full advantage of Samsung's focus on AI. The wearable will include a number of AI-powered features, including a "Personalized Daily AI companion" which will enable "AI Powered Sleep, AI Powered Exercise, and AI Powered Communication." Barring any further leaks, we'll just have to wait for Samsung's official announcement to find out exactly what all that means.

House of the Dragon Season 2, episode 4, has left us with a lot of questions.

Is King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) dead? Did his own brother Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) mean to kill him? Will rival Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) ever stop wandering around Harrenhal and actually do something useful?

We've already dived into some of those, but now we need to turn our attention to another crucial question that could have major ramifications for the rest of the season: If Aegon is dead, then who takes over as ruler?

Yes, we know what you're thinking: Why don't Team Green just put aside all this silliness and welcome Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) back, if Aegon is out of commission? Well first, a quick reminder of the Targaryen family tree: Aegon is the current ruler and is married to his sister (of course), Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban), with whom he has twins: a boy, Jaehaerys, who was murdered at the end of episode 1, and a girl, Jaehaera, who is still alive (the couple also have another child, Maelor, in the books, but showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed that he "does not yet exist on this timeline").

Who's most likely to become ruler if Aegon is dead?

Crucially, this means Aegon doesn't have a male heir. We've already seen how reluctant the Targaryens are to crown a woman — through the Queen Who Never Was, Rhaenys (Eve Best), and Rhaenyra's experiences — and we'd imagine they'd be even more reluctant to discuss still-very-much-a-child Jaehaera becoming ruler in Aegon's stead.

So, who does that leave? Yep, you guessed it: the eye patch-wearing drama king himself, Aemond. It seems almost inevitable that if Aegon is dead, his younger brother will step into the role, given that he's a) a fighter with proven battle experience, b) Team Green's only dragon rider, and c) a close male relative of Aegon.

Things could be about to get even more dramatic around Westeros.

At this year's WWDC in June, Apple announced a smarter, AI-enhanced version of Siri, but a new report claims that users won't get it on their devices until 2025.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new Siri should arrive next spring, with beta testing for developers starting in January 2025, as part of the iOS 18.4 upgrade.

Apple Intelligence – a wider set of AI features Apple has announced for the iPhone and iPad – is still happening this fall, together with the rollout of iPhone 16 and iOS 18. But the big AI upgrades to Siri, which include the smart assistant recognizing your errors mid-command, remembering earlier conversations, and summarizing your meetings, will have to wait.

One AI feature that is coming to Siri this fall, Gurman says, is integration with OpenAI's smart assistant ChatGPT.

Gurman also laid out Apple's plans for the Apple Watch, including increasing the displays on new models, which we've previously reported on. He also said that Apple is looking to update its low-cost watch, the Apple Watch SE. The company is reportedly looking into replacing that watch's aluminum shell with rigid plastic, probably in order to cut manufacturing costs. The company once did this with the iPhone, when it launched the iPhone 5c, a device that had a polycabornate (instead of aluminum) shell, though that device didn't sell particularly well.

Max has released a "House of the Dragon" Season 2, episode 5 trailer that hints at the fate of King Aegon.

If ever there was an argument to be made for kings not going to battle, it would be Aegon II Targaryen's (Tom Glynn-Carney's) feeble attempt to do something useful in House of the Dragon Season 2, episode 4.

Desperate to be taken seriously the king hops aboard his tiny dragon Sunfyre, flying off to try and assist Hand of the King Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) and his troops in their attempt to storm Rook's Rest.

The end result? The king quickly gets owned by Rhaenys (Eve Best) riding her dragon Meraxes, before his brother Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) comes storming in on the enormous Vhagar to torch both of them, knocking the king out of the sky in what may-or-may-not be a death spiral.

We can talk separately about whether Aemond was trying to kill Aegon and, indeed, who could become ruler if he's out of commission. But before that, the most important question of all: Is Aegon actually dead?

Is Aegon dead at the end of episode 4?

OK, let's look at the evidence. Not only did the king receive a faceful of Vhagar fire, but he also fell quite a long way out of the sky. The last time we see him, right at the end of the episode, he's lying on his back in a little forest clearing beside Sunfyre.

The problem is we only see a very brief glimpse of his body, and it's not long enough to say for sure whether he's dead or just unconscious. The only other things we have to go on are a) his dragon, and b) the reactions of the people who find him.

First of all, it's worth noting that Sunfyre isn't dead. Badly injured, sure. But still very clearly breathing, which means the fall itself wasn't enough to kill him. This of course isn't proof that the fall wasn't enough to kill the king, but maybe it suggests their landing was somewhat cushioned by the trees.

Next, there's Aemond and Criston. When Criston walks into the clearing at the end of the battle Aemond has his sword drawn, and is striding towards the king's fallen body with purpose — the implication, of course, is that he's planning to make sure the king's dead. Cole's arrival interrupts him, but the Hand's expression when he sees the king's body is total devastation as he sinks to his knees.

The conclusion? The king is either dead, or close to dead. The survival of the dragon, and Aemond drawing his sword, suggest Aegon might still be clinging to life. But Cole's look of horror suggests he's either already a goner, or close to it. We'll have to wait for episode 5 to find out which it is.

House of the Dragon Season 2 has already had a few shocking moments, but episode 4 took things to whole new, dragon-riding heights.

But looking past the battle, the tragic death of Rhaenys (Eve Best), and the (possible?) death of Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), there's also an interesting question of motive: Was Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) trying to kill his brother in the fray? Did he want him dead?

It's not entirely clear-cut in the episode, so let's weigh up the evidence.

Aegon flying his little dragon into battle was never part of the plan. That's clear from the expression on the face of Sir Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) when he sees the king flying overhead on Sunfyre, and even clear when a hidden Aemond mutters "idiot" as his brother travels by. So the first thing we can say with certainty is that what happened to Aegon wasn't a premeditated murder.

But what about an opportunistic one? When Aemond does take to the sky, he flies Vhagar directly at his brother and Rhaenys on Meraxes as they're locked in a dual. Aegon at first seems relieved, but that quickly turns to terror when Aemond shouts the trademark "dracarys" command and Vhagar bathes both of them in flames, causing Aegon to plummet out of the sky.

At this point you could still argue that the damage done to Aegon could be an accident – maybe Aemond thought he had no other choice with the dragons so closely deadlocked? – but this theory gets scuppered by the episode's final scene.

When Cole regains consciousness and goes looking for Aegon, he finds Aemond walking towards his fallen body with his sword drawn — looking as though he's about to strike. But when he hears Cole's voice Aemond sheaths the blade instead, picks up his brother's dagger, and simply points to the fallen body before walking away.

If Cole hadn't appeared when he did, though, Aemond's intention seemed pretty clear: he was going to finish Aegon off.

Why might Aemond have wanted Aegon dead?

OK, OK. So it's stretching it a bit, but you could still argue that maybe Aemond was trying to kill his brother at the end there, possibly in an act of mercy. Perhaps he was only planning to use the sword to make sure that Aegon – who looked to be on death's door anyway – didn't suffer?

Maybe, but I'm personally not buying it. The real clue is the look on Aemond's face when he shouts "dracarys", and his expression when he turns to see Cole behind him in the clearing. Those are the faces of a man with murder on the mind.

And it makes sense based on their relationship, doesn't it? Although they clearly get on better than they did as children, Aemond still has a big chip on his shoulder about the teasing he suffered in his youth — teasing that would have been fresh in his mind after his brother discovered him in the brothel in episode 3 and started to drunkenly mock him.

Is it likely that Aemond wanted Aegon dead? Yes. And did he see Aegon's sudden arrival on the battlefield as a chance to make that death happen? Also yes.

Connections is the latest New York Times word game that's captured the public's attention. The game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier—so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle.

If you just want to be told today's puzzle, you can jump to the end of this article for July 1's Connections solution. But if you'd rather solve it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to assist you.

What is Connections?

The NYT's latest daily word game has become a social media hit. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu with helping to create the new word game and bringing it to the publications' Games section. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise of anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer. If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake—players get up to four mistakes until the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.
