Welcome back to the incredible week of tech announcements at CES. We now have a robot vacuum with an arm to clean up your stray socks and a laptop with a rollable screen.

But in the wonderful world of gaming, we're all eyes on Lenovo which just dropped two exciting announcements about the new Legion Go S handheld, which will start shipping out later this month. However, some models aren't slated to ship until May.

Here's everything we know so far.

The standout details

The Legion Go S is an updated version of last year's Legion Go, with a few modifications that make it more travel-friendly and easier to toss into a backpack, weighing a bit over 1.5 pounds. For starters, the Legion Go S doesn't have detachable controllers and the display is a bit smaller — using an 8-inch FHD display compared to the 8.8-inch GHD we got with the Legion Go. It also uses the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Go CPU.

In many aspects, the new Legion Go S is a bit like a lite version of the Legion Go.

But one of the most important notes here is that while we're getting a Windows-based Legion Go S, we're also getting a SteamOS model, which clocks this as the first ever third-party handheld besides Valve's own Steam Deck. But unlike the Windows version that drops later in the month, we're going to have to wait until May to get our hands on the SteamOS version.

Where can you buy the Lenovo Legion Go S?

We have tentative release dates for all models of the Lenovo Legion Go S, but currently, there's no way to preorder these puppies. We'll update this post as soon as Lenovo announces preorders. But we do know Lenovo plans to drop a Windows-based model in January and the SteamOS version in May.

Lenovo's ordering page for the Windows 11 Legion Go S is currently hanging out with a "coming soon" banner, but having the page itself is a step in the right direction.

Nitty gritty pricing details

More good news is that many models of the new Lenovo Legion Go S will be more affordable compared to the $749.99 price of the current Lenovo Legion Go.

The Windows-based version, launching this month, will come in at $729.99 with the 8-inch display and 1TB storage. Lenovo mentioned other Windows configurations will come in May, with an expected starting price of $599.99.

The more expensive version uses an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor which is the same CPU as the standard Legion Go. Less expensive models will have an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor.

When it comes to the SteamOS models, we're in for lower prices, starting at $499.99 in May with the same 8-inch display, 1TB storage, and an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor.

Lenovo's other exciting announcement

Also at CES, Lenovo also packed along a prototype of the new Legion Go 2, which they've slated as a "refined" version of the original. With an 8.8-inch display and detachable controllers, the handheld is fairly similar to the original model but comes with some pretty nice improvements like a more ergonomic soft plastic coating and a new fingerprint reader. It'll also come with a new OLED display and an 8-direction D-pad.

Meta might start letting users browse listings from eBay on Facebook Marketplace soon.

The company said on Wednesday that it's launching a test in Germany, France, and the U.S. that, according to Bloomberg, will let users find eBay posts on Marketplace. When they decide to place a bid, it will open in another tab on eBay's website.

This comes two months after the European Commission fined Meta €798 million for breaching antitrust rules and creating "unfair trading conditions" with Facebook Marketplace. The European Commission argued that this gave Meta a "substantial distribution advantage," TechCrunch reported. Meta is appealing the Commission's decision, as Reuters reported on Wednesday, but is using updates like this to address the Commission's points.

Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that his platforms — including Facebook and Instagram — will eliminate fact-checkers and replace them with Community Notes. Many experts responded, pointing out that this new decision will not only contribute to the spread of misinformation but is also specifically anti-LGBTQ.

Garmin smartwatches took a tumble on Wednesday morning.

According to Down Detector, a mass of users reported issues with the Garmin Connect online service that holds all of Garmin's online smartwatch features together. The outage appeared to peak around 7 a.m. ET, meaning people wanting to get a morning run in on the east coast might have been out of luck, at least in terms of digitally planning a route and tracking their progress.

However, by 9:30 a.m. ET or so, it appears the outage was functionally over. The number of Down Detector reports was near zero by that time, and more importantly, Garmin's status page showed every service and feature as being "online." According to The Independent, all of those services and features were marked as "offline" during the outage.

Lenovo has been on a roll. The Beijing-based tech company consistently debuts some of the most exciting and innovative laptops at CES every year, from the 2020 ThinkBook Plus with an "E Ink" display on its lid to 2023's dual-screened Yoga Book 9i and twistable ThinkBook Plus. Last year, it brought us a ThinkBook with snap-on attachments.

At the 2025 tech trade show, Lenovo aims to continue its hot streak with the formal launch of the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, an all-new business laptop that's billed as "the world's first rollable display AI PC." It was introduced two years ago as a concept, and it's finally hitting the market within the next few months.

Mashable checked out the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 in a hands-on demo Tuesday, and unfortunately I'm going to be that person: Its OLED display doesn’t actually roll up like a scroll or a burrito, as its name implies. But setting aside that nitpick, it's a neat, well-made new option for creatives and multitasking professionals with padded pockets.

First off: Why this? A Lenovo rep told us that the company is interested in exploring different ways to use OLED displays, which are thin and flexible. ("It's kind of like a sticker," they said.) You might recall 2020's ThinkPad X1 Fold with a bendable OLED display.

A mechanism within the hinge of the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 slides a hidden extension of its display out from inside the base, where it's sandwiched between its keyboard and motherboard. The display coasts out along tracks on either side of the screen, which translate to some chunky bezels. A sing-songy chime plays as the display grows — maybe to muffle the noise of that mechanism, which sounds like a quiet pencil sharpener when it's working. The fully expanded display offers almost 50 percent more screen real estate than before, or enough room for two or three stacked windows.

Users can unleash and retract the display by pressing a dedicated key, or by holding their palm up near the top of the screen, like they're swearing on a bible. After the webcam takes a moment to register the hand's presence, a subsequent upwards or downwards gesture will cause the display to get bigger or smaller. (I preferred the button-pressing method in our testing — it's faster and less finicky.) The mechanism will stop the display-sliding process if the laptop's screen is too far forward.

When fully extended, the display is super rigid, not at all top-heavy, and impressively free of any noticeable creases. The lid side of the display section that's sheathed has a ridged texture.

Lenovo made a couple changes to the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 in taking it from prototype to mass production. Its screen is tad bigger than the first iteration's, for one thing: It's now 14 inches at rest and 16.7 inches in full, up from 12.7 inches and 15.3 inches, respectively. A Lenovo rep told us the new larger size is more ideal for productivity and watching vertical videos.

The position of the display in the market-ready ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 has also been optimized for stability, Lenovo said — they didn't want it to crack or bubble easily — and the mechanisms that slide it out are more structurally sound. It's supposedly better at staying cool, too, and its finalized chassis should prevent any liquids from reaching the housed display in case anything gets spilled on its keyboard.

Looking beyond its party trick, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 is a pretty standard next-gen Copilot+ PC spec-wise. It can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage, and it's got Intel Arc graphics. It webcam has a resolution of 5MP, and there's a privacy shutter on the top edge of its lid. Its keyboard is clicky and satisfying to use. It's 0.78 inches thick and weighs 3.73 pounds. It comes in Luna Grey. It hasn't been rated for battery life yet.

Is it worth it for that expanding display alone? (Let's stop calling it rollable.) Maybe if you don't want to carry around a separate monitor — and you're not a fan of existing dual-display form factors.

The price of the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 will probably be the biggest determining factor for most people: It will start at $3,499 when it hits the market sometime in Q1 2025.
