FX's newest comedy offering may be called Adults, but the characters at the center of the show are still trying to figure out what, exactly, being an adult means. How do you repair a boiler? Or navigate a hospital bill? Or even land a job? Adults' ensemble would love to know.
SEE ALSO: Summer TV preview: All the TV shows you need to know, and where to stream themLike the many hangout sitcoms that have come before it — think Seinfeld or Living Single — Adults examines the day-to-day lives and challenges of a tight-knit friend group. Here, however, creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) filter familiar beats of friend drama and romantic woes through a Gen Z lens. The result is more Broad City than Friends — although comparisons to both are apt — with Kronengold and Shaw delivering a heightened look at early adulthood that's chaotic, heartfelt, and current.
Adults boasts a killer ensemble cast Owen Thiele, Lucy Freyer, Malik Elassal, and Amita Rao in "Adults." Credit: Rafy / FXAdults introduces an instantly lovable television friend group in its five lead twentysomethings, each of whom come with a host of relatable worries. The whole crew crashes at Samir's (Malik Elassal) parents' house. In theory, that gives him authority, but Samir's struggles to find work and keep the house in order while his parents are on vacation leave him with major anxiety about the future.
Joining Samir is his childhood bestie Billie (Lucy Freyer), whose career-driven dreams have stalled, leaving her wondering whether she peaked in high school. Meanwhile, the eternally charismatic Anton (Owen Thiele) struggles with personal boundaries, somehow managing to become everyone’s friend — even a local stabber. Rounding out the group is the unapologetically brash Issa (Amita Rao), who worries that her status as the resident "wild card" leads her friends to not take her seriously, along with her boyfriend Paul (Jack Innanen), a "sexually fluid delight" who brings a charming go-with-the-flow vibe to the household.
SEE ALSO: From a thrift store meltdown to TV stardom, Jack Innanen turns chaos into comedyTogether, these five will weather the storm of their twenties, from ill-advised hookups to the nerves that come with hosting your first "grown-up" dinner party. The cast of young comedians gels instantly, establishing the kind of natural chemistry that is able to propel any show from good to great (or in this case, from great to must-watch). It helps that the roommate conceit of Adults naturally intensifies the ensemble's intimacy — if you don’t already buy that the characters are friends, wait until you see them all cram into a bathroom together as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.
Adults showcases modern-day adulthood in all its messy glory Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, and Amita Rao in "Adults." Credit: Rafy / FXAmid its more raunchy chaos, Adults also tries its hand at tackling more serious subject matter, like panic about health insurance or harassment in the workplace. Thankfully, the series never gets preachy, instead finding humor in its leads' wild reactions to these topics. ("How can I make this about me?" is a common thread throughout Adults, leading to cringe-worthy situations that left me both howling with laughter and hiding my face in my hands.)
On top of addressing these thornier topics, Adults also places major emphasis on the role technology plays in its characters' lives. After all, you can't make a show about young adults in 2025 without incorporates tech in some way. Here, that manifests in plots involving tracking friends with AirTags or parsing a long list of vaguely named phone contacts. None of these references come across as forced — in fact, Adults' treatment of tech as an everyday facet of life feels fresh and relevant, helping distinguish it from its older hangout sitcom predecessors.
Of course, there are also elements of Adults that will feel familiar to any hangout sitcom lover, like longstanding friend group traditions, or hints at a romance within the group. Guest stars abound too, like a cameo from Julia Fox, or Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again) showcasing his comedy chops as an English teacher on a downward spiral.
Still, it's Adults' main ensemble that proves to be the major draw here, with Kronengold, Shaw, and the show’s leads creating a friend group that’s codependent and flawed to the extreme, yet relatable and sweet in their support for one another. These five may not be the most sure of their directions in life, but even in its early episodes, Adults knows exactly where it's going, and it relishes the chaos and growing pains it takes to get there.

SpaceX's ninth Starship test flight ended abruptly on Tuesday when the rocket experienced a "rapid unscheduled disassembly" — the company's favourite euphemism for "exploded." It's the third Starship test flight in a row to end in fiery failure, Elon Musk's space company having had a poor run as of late.
SEE ALSO: Astronauts watch SpaceX's Starship explode in space during flight testStarship's uncrewed test flight took off at 6:36 p.m. local time (7:36 p.m. EDT / 4:36 p.m. PDT), launching from SpaceX's Starbase launch pad in Brownsville, Texas. This was SpaceX's first attempt to reuse a Super Heavy rocket deployed in a previous flight, utilising the same booster from their seventh Starship test in January.
Attached to the Super Heavy rocket booster, the plan was for Starship to eventually separate and continue its ascent solo, releasing fake Starlink satellites into orbit before splashing down. SpaceX also intended for the Super Heavy rocket to splash down in the Gulf of Mexico/America, rather than attempt to catch it with the "chopstick" arms of the Mechazilla, Starbase's launch tower.
Credit: Sergio Flores / AFP via Getty ImagesUnfortunately for SpaceX, its plans didn't come to fruition. While the test flight successfully reached the separation stage, the Super Heavy rocket ultimately exploded six minutes after launch. The Starship spacecraft continued on, however its payload bay door did not open, preventing its fake satellites from launching. SpaceX subsequently lost contact with Starship 46 minutes after launch, with the vehicle spinning uncontrollably before exploding over the Indian Ocean.
An investigation will likely be conducted to determine exactly what caused SpaceX's latest fiery explosion. However, it currently appears that a leak in the Starship's fuel tank systems may have contributed, with Musk stating on X that "leaks caused loss of main tank pressure during the coast and re-entry phase." Despite this, he appeared unbothered by the failure, focusing on the positives instead.
"Starship made it to the scheduled ship engine cutoff, so big improvement over last flight!" Musk wrote.
The billionaire also stated that SpaceX's next three test flights will occur more rapidly, "at approximately 1 every 3 to 4 weeks."
Featured Video For You Highlights From Starship's Test Flight 9: Everything That Happened in 17 MinutesThough the Starship test flight did not go as planned, it at least lasted longer than the previous two, which saw the spacecraft explode less than 10 minutes into the operation. Since the last test flight in March, SpaceX stated that it had conducted an investigation and modified the Starship's hardware to "increase reliability" for its ninth test flight. Unfortunately, it seems that further changes may be required.
"Teams will continue to review data and work toward our next flight test," SpaceX's official X account wrote after Tuesday's explosion. "With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s test will help us improve Starship’s reliability as SpaceX seeks to make life multiplanetary."
It came as a surprise to no-one that Trump started Memorial Day with a shouty, all-caps TruthSocial post ranting about the Biden administration — least of all Jimmy Kimmel.
In the video above he kicked off Tuesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue with a reference to the post, which went from "HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY" to "THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY" in just a handful of words.
"Any subject, he can exit to the previous administration," says Kimmel. "'Would you like some ketchup, Mr President?' 'Catchup? If Biden was still in charge, we'd never catchup! He's a loser!' 'I'll just leave it here on the table...'"

There are five rounds to the game. The first round sees you trying to guess the word, with correct, misplaced, and incorrect letters shown in each guess. If you guess the correct answer, it'll take you to the next hurdle, providing the answer to the last hurdle as your first guess. This can give you several clues or none, depending on the words. For the final hurdle, every correct answer from previous hurdles is shown, with correct and misplaced letters clearly shown.
An important note is that the number of times a letter is highlighted from previous guesses does necessarily indicate the number of times that letter appears in the final hurdle.
If you find yourself stuck at any step of today's Hurdle, don't worry! We have you covered.

Not the day you're after? Here's the solution to yesterday's Connections.
Is your TikTok FYP inexplicably filling up with short clips of AI baby videos? If so, you're not alone, the AI baby videos are going viral across TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
These short AI-generated videos feature a cherubic baby-faced version of well-known figures, from world leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron to the stars of Friends. See also: Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious, Michael Jackson in "Thriller," and Judge Judy.
So, are these videos cute, creepy, or cringe? Cringe is in the eye of the beholder, and your take on this trend will be informed by your general fondness for both babies and AI in general. Regardless, the viral videos are yet more proof that the AI slop machine is working overtime.
"Slop" is the term for low-quality, AI-generated images and videos, and they can often go surprisingly viral. Some of the people sharing the clips may not even realize the videos are AI-generated, though we hope that goes without saying when you come across a video of baby Ice Cube (Lil' Ice Cube?) rapping "It Was a Good Day."
Where are all of these AI baby videos coming from? And how are they made? The first question is easy to answer. Some videos are surely created by fans and AI enthusiasts, while others are churned out by content farms. Like those men shoveling coal into the Titanic's engines, the algorithms must be fueled, and content farms shovel a constant stream of memes, AI content, and stolen videos onto social media apps.
This particular trend started a couple of weeks ago, with AI enthusiasts making AI videos featuring talking babies on podcasts. The trend evolved to AI videos of celebrities as babies, which is where we are now. As mentioned earlier, the trend has even reached the highest level of world government.
How to make AI baby videosMost creators are using a mix of different AI tools to create these baby videos, and you can find tutorials on YouTube and TikTok. However, I know what you're really wondering: Can I create these AI baby videos for free, and without being a tech wiz? Not really.
I tried creating an AI video using TikTok's new free AI Alive tool, which turns images into animated videos. The results were, ah, not great!
Credit: Timothy Beck Werth / Mashable Credit: Timothy Beck Werth / MashableTo create an AI baby video from start to finish, you will need paid subscriptions to some popular AI tools. Some of these steps can be done with the free versions of the tools mentioned below, but generally, you need a paid subscription to generate a video.
Upload a picture of yourself to ChatGPT (or your AI tool of choice); use a prompt like this: "Create a baby photo based on this image."
Write a short script to go along with your video.
Use the ElevenLabs text-to-speech tool (or a similar tool) to create an audio file for your "baby."
Use an AI video tool like Hedra or Dreamina to generate a video based on your photo and audio file.
Of course, all this comes at a cost, and not just for AI subscriptions. According to a new report from MIT Technology Review, generating one 5-second AI video is the energy equivalent of running a microwave for a full hour.
Which AI video tool should you use? Google's brand new Veo 3 video generator is currently the most advanced video generator, but it also costs $250 a month to access as part of Google's AI Ultra Subscription. I was able to create a fairly realistic baby video using Veo in Gemini, but that's not exactly the point of the meme.
Most creators seem to be using Hedra. Per Tech Crunch, Hedra just raised $32 million, and its Character-3 model is powering a lot of these AI baby videos.
