TVs being on sale for Black Friday isn't unique to any one retailer. Sure, that's news to no one. The less-known intel is that, while there will be a handful of price-matched deals on identical models at all of the big competing stores, each store also has a certain type of TV that they seem to really hone in on when it comes to Black Friday discounts.

Walmart's wheelhouse is simply the cheapest 4K TV possible at any given size between 50 inches and 75 inches. If you see Amazon and Best Buy plateauing at a certain sale price for a certain size (for instance, maybe the cheapest they're seemingly able to go for a 50-incher is $199.99), it's pretty safe to assume that Walmart will have an option that slightly beats both of those sale prices. This highly competitive vibe is the main reason why TV deals are typically better on Black Friday than on Amazon Prime Day.

Because Walmart likes to release its most jaw-dropping TV deals as a handful of pre-meditated doorbusters, more shoppers will be waiting in the wings for the clock to strike a certain time (rather than calmly perusing several pages of TV deals) — which means TVs selling out is more likely and time is of the essence.

One way to make sure you get first dibs on any of Walmart's big Black Friday drops is by becoming a Walmart+ member. Paid Walmart+ members get early access to Walmart deals, often for several hours before the sale officially goes live to the public. Through Dec. 2, new, expired, monthly, and current Walmart+ trial members can sign up for an annual Walmart+ membership for $49 — 50% off the regular $98 a year that Walmart+ typically costs.

Along with this early access, Walmart+ members also get perks like a free Paramount+ subscription; 10 cents per gallon fuel savings at Exxon, Mobil, Walmart, and Murphy; Walmart Cash through Expedia; free shipping from your store; free online shipping with no order minimum; and more.

We're tracking all of Walmart's best TV deals throughout the Black Friday season below and will update the list as new ones drop — or as models sell out. On top of the ultra budget-friendly options we gushed about earlier, Walmart also has some good deals on premium models from Samsung and LG.

Note: Occasionally, a Walmart TV doorbuster will come in the form of a TV that's making its debut at a sale price rather than appearing as a clear-cut dollar discount off of an MSRP. Black Friday being one of the best times of year to buy a TV is knowledge that we were all simply born with, it seems. Where to find those stellar TV deals is less obvious, and for many, is a question that boils down to one thing: Amazon or somewhere else?

To be frank, likely the only time Amazon will have the "best" TV deal in any given category is on its own Fire TVs. These, including its Amazon-branded Fire TVs as well as Fire TVs made by TCL, Toshiba, Hisense, and Insignia, get the most attention discount-wise from Amazon during any shopping holiday, and most have dropped to all-time low pricing now that Amazon's Black Friday sale is officially underway. (It finally kicked off on Thursday, Nov. 21, and runs through Cyber Monday on Dec. 2).

If you're partial to the Fire TV platform or merely trust Prime shipping the most, Amazon's not a bad place to find an affordable mid-size 4K TV with a smooth interface. There are even more chances to upgrade to a nice Fire TV on sale now than there were during Amazon's October Prime Day sale just over a month ago — Amazon has since debuted several new versions of its Omni TVs, including its very first mini LED TV. Like Prime Day, note that some Black Friday Fire TV deals are still only available to Prime members.

For bigger or fancier QLED or OLED models, Best Buy is your best bet. Its selection of large-screen premium options from Samsung, Sony, and LG is much vaster than Amazon's, and that selection isn't riddled with questionable third-party sellers like Amazon's is. Best Buy's already-live Black Friday TV deals also confirm that Best Buy is making sure to have a stake in the "small, cheap QLED" club. Speaking of your best cheap TV options, budget shoppers would be very wise to check Walmart before buying a TV at Amazon — this year's selection of Black Friday TV deals that have already dropped once again prove that Walmart is the best at offering the cheapest possible 4K TV at just about any given size.

At any rate, it's still worthwhile to peruse Amazon's Black Friday TV deals while keeping TV deals from other retailers in mind. TV deals are categorized by size and then listed from cheapest to most expensive within that size category, which will get longer as we refresh this list with new deals that pop up in the days ahead of Black Friday. Amazon put its new Mini LED Fire TVs on sale for the first time mere days after announcing them, but that doesn't automatically make those the best deal on a QLED TV at Amazon this Black Friday. Though the 27% discount itself isn't as steep as the 30% or 40% off ones we're seeing in our list, it has to be noted that this huge 75-inch Hisense TV is already ridiculously modestly priced at full price. Its $549.99 sale price looks even sweeter in context when put beside the 65-inch version of Amazon's cheapest in-house Omni QLED, which is on sale for $599.99 — so opting for this TCL gets you 10 more diagonal inches of screen for $50 less.

Many people looking to finally replace their old, slow LED TV are looking for the happy medium between the cheapest possible TV and the fanciest possible TV. TCL's base tier QLEDs fall right in this sweet spot: Even as one of the more basic QLEDs on the market, you'll immediately notice the change in brightness and color of the Q65 over the regular LED you've been watching. The difference comes from a layer of quantum dots laid over the LED backlight, which provides an overall punchier picture that's much better for gaming or watching sports.

As one of the OG items being stampeded after in those old Black Friday clips you're picturing right now, we've known for most of our adult lives that Black Friday is one of the best times of year to buy a TV.

The types of TVs spotlighted in the pre-holiday sale have shifted, however. The biggest factor when upgrading your TV this year will probably be the normalization — and subsequently, affordability — of QLED. Over the past few years, QLED TVs have officially gone from "the TV that only the fanciest people you know have" to actually accessible for the average household. Finding a 55-inch QLED under $300 or a 65-inch QLED under $500 during an event like Black Friday isn't hard at all.

However, the "best" TV deal for one household won't be the "best" TV deal for another. Rather than jumping between a mess of tabs of every store's TV doorbusters, knowing which type of TVs each big retailer tends to focus on is a way smarter strategy going in.

Are TV deals better at Amazon, Best Buy, or Walmart?

In my experience, Best Buy focuses on large screens and has a bigger selection of the premium QLED and OLED models from Samsung, Sony, and LG on sale. Amazon gears its TV discounts more toward 43-inch to 65-inch Fire TVs, especially its in-house models. Walmart is known for a more concise list of doorbusters that are often simply the cheapest 4K TV possible in a certain size, specifically options in the 50- to 75-inch range that are more likely to sell out than TVs at other retailers. However, there's been a bit of a plot twist with cheap 43-inch to 65-inch QLEDs this year — Best Buy is kind of stealing Walmart's spotlight on that one.

The TV wheelhouses of these retailers don't completely bar any overlap between TV deals, though. There will be a handful of popular models (like Samsung's The Frame) seeing price matches across each, but we'll keep you posted if one retailer is able to undercut the others on one of these icons.

I've been tracking early Black Friday TV deals since the beginning of November and have watched retailers amp discounts even further in the days right before Thanksgiving — a ton of models are already back to their October Prime Day price or beating it completely.

So yes, almost all of the TV deals in this list are already at their Black Friday prices — but that doesn't mean retailers won't hit us with a surprise extra price drop or add a few more secret doorbusters to their ranks. This list will be refreshed regularly as we head into Black Friday itself on Nov. 29 (and beyond) if you'd prefer to hold out and compare.

Remember when I said QLEDs are becoming way more accessible for the average household? At $219.99, this 55-inch QLED is hovering around the same price point that many regular, dull LED TVs were a few years ago. Now, I can see this 55-inch Hisense QLED being baby's first adult TV purchase for a ton of people. (Note: Best Buy has dropped this price by an extra $30 since this TV first went on sale a few weeks before Black Friday.)

The difference between those two cheap TVs is that the "Q" in QLED stands for quantum dots, which form a layer of extra light over the traditional LED panel to pump more saturated colors through the screen. QLED TVs are also significantly brighter than regular LED TVs, making them ideal for watching sports, especially in the daytime.

You know what they say: Good things come to those who wait. Well, it's proving true when it comes to Black Friday Kindle deals. Amazon finally kicked off its official early Black Friday deals, and they've surprised us with some solid Kindle deals.

Amazon has a knack for launching new devices around Prime Day, so it was no surprise when they dropped a new batch of Kindles post-October Prime Day. We've tested our way through most of the latest models, and they're improving upon already great tech for the fastest, brightest Kindles yet. Our favorite is the Kindle Paperwhite, and yes, it's on sale.

Because these items are so new, we weren't expecting to see amazing discounts. The last few Prime Day sales on Kindles have been disappointing, so it's a delight to see such good prices. Early on we saw Kindle bundles go on sale, but now, single devices are marked down up to 27% off.

If you're an annotator, the Kindle Scribe is the e-reader for you. The matte screen feels like writing on paper, and includes a notebook section so you can take notes in addition to annotating your e-books. Personally, I like writing with the Kindle Scribe far more than I do with an iPad and Apple Pencil.

This deal gives you a little extra off ahead of the Scribe's December release. The Essentials Bundle comes with the device, premium pen, folio-style case, and power adapter — everything you need to get started. Normally $539.97, you can find the bundle for $479.97, saving you $60 for 11% off.

Amazon's laptop deals are unusually competitive during its Black Friday Week sale (live now through Friday, Nov 29.)

For reference, Best Buy is typically the major retailer with the best Black Friday laptop deals simply because it stocks the biggest selection. There are tons of discounts on a slew of configurations across a variety of brands there, including lots of newer models. (Best Buy is the exclusive retailer partner for a bunch of this year's Copilot+ PCs, for example.)

Meanwhile, Amazon typically zeroes in on Apple MacBooks and a handful of options from Acer, Asus, LG, Microsoft, and Samsung during major savings events. It seems to pick and choose its Windows models pretty randomly, so those who shop there exclusively may have to settle for a configuration that doesn't have the exact specs they want.

Amazon and Best Buy usually offer the exact same deals where their inventories overlap, but in the case of Black Friday 2024, the former has managed to crush its competitor in several notable cases. The base configuration of the 13-inch M3 MacBook Air (now with 16GB of RAM) is $5 cheaper on Amazon than at Best Buy, for instance, while the base M4 Pro-powered MacBook Pro is $50 cheaper.

Among Windows laptops, the Mashable Choice Award-winning Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 is $150 less at Amazon, and the highly rated Asus Zenbook Duo is $100 cheaper even with an extra boost from a My Best Buy discount.

Things reach more of a stalemate when it comes to gaming laptops. Best Buy has the best overall deal with its $600 discount on the Alienware m16 R2, Mashable's top gaming laptop of 2024. And the $430 HP Victus featured in one of its doorbusters is the cheapest gaming laptop we've seen thus far. That said, Amazon is offering a pretty stellar deal on a variant of the Acer Nitro V 15, the best budget gaming laptop we've tried. It's actually better than advertised.

Keep in mind that Amazon does not offer price matching, but most items purchased there through Dec. 31 can be returned until Jan. 31, 2025 — save for MacBooks, which can be sent back until Jan. 15. (For its part, Best Buy's price match guarantee does not apply to competitors' offers when they're marked as Black Friday deals. It may eventually decide to conform to Amazon's prices on its own, but there's no telling if or when.)

Microsoft's slick Qualcomm-powered laptop lasted nearly 23 hours in our battery life test and one-upped the M3 MacBooks in our performance benchmark (both the Air and the Pro models). Silo Season 2, episode 3: Who is Solo?

Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) is only three episodes in to Silo Season 2, and she's already had a bumpy ride. The bad news? She's trapped in an abandoned, water-logged silo surrounded by corpses and poisonous air, completely separate from her friends and family with the threat of death looming at every turn. The good news? She's made a new friend!

But who exactly is Solo (Steve Zahn), the apparent sole survivor of Silo 17? Why is he the only person still alive? And why is he so determined to stay hidden in the vault?

Let's recap episode 3 and see what we know so far.

After meeting Solo at the end of episode 1, Juliette gets to know more about him in episode 3. Unfortunately, the news he has for her isn't exactly what she wants to hear.

"My name is Solo. Just Solo, because I'm in here all by myself," he says. "So I'm Solo. And no one forced the people out. They chose to leave. And when they did, it was a nice day. Everybody was smiling. And then that dust started to blow again. And I think the poison went away for a bit, but it came back — and a lot of it. And that's when they all died."

Solo goes on to tell Juliette a story about Ron Tucker, a man who wanted to go outside but refused to clean, instead writing "Lies" on the camera lens before disappearing round the corner.

"Two days later they painted on the screen — 'Lies', right over what he had written," Solo continues. "And that's when the fighting started. So Russell put me in here. Russell was the head of IT, and I was his shadow. And Russell told me don't – no matter what – never let anyone in the vault. Ever."

On the surface, Solo's story sounds believable enough. We've already seen the bodies outside Silo 17, and we know it's abandoned. His tale about people rebelling and then going outside, only to die, makes sense. Solo being the Head of IT's shadow would also make some sense, given that it's only the Head of IT and their shadow that have access to the vault.

On the other hand, there are also gaps. When Juliette asks Solo about the bodies outside the vault that "aren't as old as the other ones," he refuses to respond. He also evades some of her other questions, and when he recounts the day everyone went outside, his eyes dart away from Juliette just before he says, "It was a nice day." It seems as though there are things he's not telling her.

Then there's the question of those bodies outside the vault. Near the end of the episode Juliette discovers the words "WE WILL GET IN SOONER OR LATER" scratched across the doorway that faces Solo's viewing slit, implying people have tried to get inside the vault before. The question is, why didn't Solo want to help them? And if he's telling Juliette the truth about what happened in Silo 17, why does he react so badly to some of her questions? It seems like there's something more going on here...

Well folks, it's about that time. Black Friday 2024 is basically here, bringing with it tons of deals on big-ticket tech items. And if you need a new laptop, then let us introduce you to the year's best Black Friday MacBook deals.

The post-Thanksgiving sale is always a great time to snag low prices on Apple gadgets. MacBooks normally show up to the Black Friday party in a big way, and this year's discounts are particularly competitive at retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. (The Apple Store is just doing its usual gift card offer with the purchase of certain M2 and M3 models—lame.)

The current-gen MacBook Air (which has a previous-gen M3 chip) is our favorite MacBook for most people because of its solid everyday power, awesome keyboard, and support for two external displays. Amazon has a new record-low Black Friday price on the base configuration, which just got upgraded from 8GB to 16GB of memory, and Best Buy hasn't managed to match it yet. It's less than $100 more than the older M2 version, so this is kind of a no-brainer.

Black Friday is the absolute best time for finding good deals on laptops. (I would know: I've tracked them for Mashable since 2019.) And with retailers taking full advantage of the holiday's abnormally late timing this year, steep savings have been abundant all month long.

With Black Friday proper now basically upon us, the competition is especially intense — like, way more intense than previous years have felt. Amazon somehow managed to pull off the best MacBook and Windows laptop deals by not-small margins, while Best Buy is winning the battle for the top gaming laptop and Chromebook discounts of the holiday season thus far. I'm seeing lots of new and year-round lows between the two of them.

If neither retailer is discounting models with the specific specs you want, other Black Friday sales at Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft, Razer, and Samsung have ushered in discounts as high as $900 across their lineups.

As a brief aside, the Apple Store's usual Black Friday gift card offer will be live starting Nov. 29; M2 and M3 MacBooks will come with free vouchers worth up to $200. That doesn't beat any of the dollars-off discounts available elsewhere, but it could be a practical option for those enmeshed in the Apple ecosystem.

Mashable Tech Editor Kim Gedeon was impressed by the M3 Air's peppy performance, satisfying keyboard, vivid webcam, and dual-display support (if you close its lid), rating it a 4.3/5. It may not look all that different from its older M-series predecessors — there is a new midnight finish option — but we think it's the best MacBook for most people, especially now that Apple's bumped its base RAM from 8GB to 16GB.

The starting configuration with 256GB of storage is on sale on Amazon for only $844, which is 23% off its $1,099 MSRP, an all-time low, and $5 better than Best Buy's Black Friday deal on the exact same MacBook. This also puts less than $100 between it and the M2 Air, so opting for the current-gen model over the cheapest model out there feels like an easier, more obvious choice.

Microsoft's Copilot+ PC has an even longer battery life than the new M4 MacBook Pros — it lasted nearly 23 hours in our testing — and it comes with AI features that "make Windows fun again," Gedeon wrote. She gave it a 4.8/5; it's a Mashable Choice Award winner and our current favorite Windows laptop for most people, barring any ARM-related app compatibility issues.

The upgraded configuration that Gedeon tested is a 13-inch model featuring a Snapdragon X Elite processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage. It usually retails for $1,999.99, and Amazon has it listed for $1,549.99 earlier in its Black Friday Week sale (with the Microsoft Store matching it). But now it's down to just $1,499.99 there. That's a 25% savings and its biggest discount ever.

Amazon doesn't offer price matching if you bought the Surface Laptop 7 at a previous sale price, but you do have the option of returning it and rebuying it. The retailer's extended holiday return policy applies to most purchases made between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31.

This premium 16-incher is the best gaming laptop we tried in 2024 (and another Mashable Choice Award winner), earning a score of 4.5/5 from Gedeon. She was impressed by its ample mid-range power, its "springy" keyboard, and its solid build quality, as well as its "seamless" support of Nvidia's Advanced Optimus feature. That lets it switch between its discrete and integrated GPUs "to handle both play and work," she wrote.

Our testing configuration featured an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, GeForce RTX 4070 graphics, 16GB of memory, and a terrabyte of storage. It's down to $1,299.99 at Best Buy this Black Friday, which is $600 off its usual list price there and a record-low.

Another model with a slightly better processor and a slightly worse GPU is on sale for the same price on Dell's website, FYI; it's typically $1,699.99 there.

If you don't want to wait until the actual day of Black Friday to shop, iPad deals aren't waiting either.

In these days before Black Friday, every major retailer has started some version of their sale programming. That means we're seeing prices at or near record lows already, from the iPad Air at $100 off, the 10th generation iPad at $90 off, and the new iPad mini at $99 off.

As for whether you'll score significantly better prices during Black Friday, it's hard to say, especially as these prices currently are some of the best of the year. We consider the iPad Air the best Apple tablet for most people: it has the flexibility to be a good school companion as it can be a laptop replacement or art tablet. The M2 chip also powers some older Pro models, but you'll be saving a few hundred bucks (especially with this iPad deal).

At $499, this iPad is just a dollar away from its record low pricing, making it an excellent time to pick it up ahead of the holidays. If you're looking to score the most savings possible, even if that means wading into the chaos of Black Friday, you might want to hold off — the Air initially dropped to this price about a week ago, so there is a chance that it drops even more come Black Friday. At the time of writing, this deal is available at Target, Best Buy, and Amazon, with the latter two having all four colors available.

Black Friday isn't here just yet, but it kind of already is, if that makes sense. The Apple AirPods Pro 2, which come packed with great features like ANC, hearing protection options, personalized spatial audio, and more, are currently $60 off at Amazon ahead of Black Friday. Considering the record low price on these earbuds is $168.99, we're definitely expecting to see a better price drop during Black Friday. Though that $168 price point may be rare, we frequently see these earbuds go on sale for $199 throughout the year, so much so that we don't really consider that a good deal anymore.

If you're not really into earbuds, the AirPods Max are a good pair of over-ear headphones that'll allow you to stay within the Apple ecosystem (we get it, we like our tech to have synergy, too). While we like them for Apple users, we do have some qualms with their shorter battery life, weird carrying case, and lack of a power button, especially at their price point. That said, it's easier to look past those flaws with a good discount, which you'll find on the Lightning pairs instead of the newer USB-C model (which is the only upgrade, other than different colorways, on the newer version of these headphones).
