Amazon sales like Prime Big Deal Days are one of the best times to buy a Kindle on the cheap, but they can also be a great time to pick up e-books.

For the first day of the two-day event that is Prime Big Deal Days, Amazon has marked down tons of e-books, from self help to fiction and children's books, for prices as low as $1.99.

While Prime Big Deal Days doesn't officially kick off until tomorrow, Oct. 8, unlocked phone deals started appearing weeks ago at Amazon, particularly on Samsung Galaxy and Motorola phones. Motorola's first foldable razr phone was a major disappointment, as Mashable's reviewer Brenda Stolyar pointed out. NYT Strands hints, answers for October 9

If you're reading this, you're looking for a little help playing Strands, the New York Times' elevated word-search game.

Strands requires the player to perform a twist on the classic word search. Words can be made from linked letters — up, down, left, right, or diagonal, but words can also change direction, resulting in quirky shapes and patterns. Every single letter in the grid will be part of an answer. There's always a theme linking every solution, along with the "spangram," a special, word or phrase that sums up that day's theme, and spans the entire grid horizontally or vertically.

By providing an opaque hint and not providing the word list, Strands creates a brain-teasing game that takes a little longer to play than its other games, like Wordle and Connections.

The second Prime Day event of the year, dubbed Prime Big Deal Days, is around the corner. It officially kicks off Oct. 8, but in the typical Amazon fashion, there are already plenty of deals to shop — especially on Samsung Galaxy products.

It's no surprise, really, as Samsung is one of the brands we usually see major discounts on during big shopping events. July's Prime Day aligned with Galaxy Unpacked, which made the perfect recipe for heavily discounted Samsung products. This time around, we're hoping some of those new product launches from July will get the Prime Day treatment — particularly the near-perfect Galaxy Ring. We'll also be keeping our eyes peeled for new lows on the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6.

Prime Day is here again, and while it’s not quite as exciting as Black Friday (we guess that depends on who you ask), there are still plenty of deals worth checking out.

(Amazon did start as an online bookstore, so it kind of makes sense.)

Robot vacuums have been a backbone of Prime Day for years now, but the type of robot vacuums on sale for Prime Day looks a little different now than it did five years ago.

While self-emptying robot vacuums on sale at all were few and far between back then, almost every single robot vacuum on sale during Prime Days present can empty themselves. That includes Prime events not officially called Prime Day, like Prime Big Deal Days on Oct. 8 and 9. (Though for all intents and purposes, it's October Prime Day.)

The universalization of the self-emptying dock has also made it a much more affordable feature in general, even when no discount is present — so Prime Day deals on these robovacs means you may not have to pay more than $300 or $400 to be off dustbin duty for a few weeks.

If you do have a more flexible budget, though, the automatic maintenance feature to look for this Prime Day would be self-washing and drying mopping pads. iRobot, Shark, Roborock, Eufy, Ecovacs, and more all have at least one robot vacuum and mop combo that deals with its own dust and dirty mopping pads all in the same dock. These are obviously pricier than hybrids that make you do this manually, so to have a few hundred dollars knocked off the price during Prime Day is game-changing.
