Streaming just got cheaper: Cyber Monday deals still live on Paramount+, Mubi, Fox One, Peacock

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 11:34

Cyber Week may have technically ended, but a few of the best streaming deals are still going strong. If you missed out on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we've rounded up the streaming services that are still offering discounts on Dec. 2.

The best streaming deals still live after Cyber Monday: Paramount+ $2.99/month for first two months (save $20) Get Deal Walmart+ members get Peacock or Paramount+ free $49/year for your first year of Walmart+ (save $49 + get a free year of streaming) Get Deal Spotify Premium Free for 4 months (save $11.99/month) Get Deal Fox One $9.99/month for 2 months (save $10/month) Get Deal Mubi $75 for your first year (save $44.88) Get Deal The Criterion Channel $74.99/year (save $25 with code BLACKFRIDAY25) Get Deal Best streaming stick deal Roku Streaming Stick Plus 4K $19 (Save $20.99) Get Deal

It's been a tough year to be a streamer. Almost every major streaming service got more expensive in 2025, including Netflix, Peacock, HBO Max, Apple TV+, YouTube TV, Disney+, Hulu, and Paramount+. So, needless to say, I was extra excited about this year's selection of Black Friday streaming deals. We could all use some discounts, right? The good news is that even with Black Friday and Cyber Monday done and dusted, there are still several deals still available.

The Black Friday sale event is well known as the best time to sign up for streaming services, thanks to serious savings on monthly or annual subscription fees. This year was no different. If you're looking for a way to cut back on streaming costs for 2026, there's still time to take advantage of a few majorly discounted subscriptions.

SEE ALSO: Expert-picked early Cyber Monday deals: We found record prices on AirPods, Kindles, Lego, and PS5 consoles

Apple TV+, HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu served up the best streaming deals this year, offering monthly subscriptions for as low as $2.99 per month. Unfortunately, all three of those deals ended alongside Cyber Monday. Prime Video add-ons were also a hot commodity this Cyber Week, but those offers have also concluded.

There were two glaring omissions from this year's Black Friday streaming offers: Netflix and Peacock. Netflix never offers deals, so this comes as no surprise. Peacock, on the other hand, typically offers one of the best Black Friday streaming deals. I was extra disappointed, as the streamer had one of the biggest price hikes in 2025. Fortunately, there's still a way you can still get a deal on Peacock, despite its lack of Cyber Week participation. I've included information on that below.

One thing to note: Most Cyber Monday streaming deals are limited to new and returning subscribers (as in you haven't been a subscriber in at least a month or so). If you qualify, you can lock in some serious savings on streaming apps.

I've rounded up any streaming deals still live from across the web, so you can still lock in some major savings before they disappear. My advice? Hurry.

Best streaming deal still live after Cyber Monday Opens in a new window Credit: Paramount Paramount+ $2.99/month for 2 months (save $10/month) Get Deal Why we like it

While most of the heavy hitter streaming deals from Black Friday and Cyber Monday have dried up, the Paramount+ deal is going strong for another day. Through the end of the day on Dec. 2, you can get two months of Paramount+ Premium (no ads, with Showtime) for just $2.99 per month for your first two months. That's $10 per month in savings. This wasn't our favorite streaming deal of the season, but it does offer a solid selection of movies and TV for a steal, including new theatrical releases like The Naked Gun and Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, Paramount+ originals like Landman and Mayor of Kingstown, Showtime hits like Yellowjackets and The Curse, and CBS originals like Survivor and Ghosts. You'll also be able to watch live local NFL games on Sundays, UEFA Champions League matches, and UFC fights (coming soon). Come January, the price per month is jumping from $12.99 to $13.99, so this is actually an even better deal than it lets on.

Best Cyber Monday streaming deal still live for movie buffs Opens in a new window Credit: Mubi Mubi $75/year for your first year (save $44.88) Get Deal Why we like it

Movie buffs, you are doing yourself a disservice if you aren't a Mubi subscriber. The streamer is built for cinephiles and is brimming with hand-picked quality cinema — no filler. You'll find an array of films from America and abroad, mainstream and independent, classics, new releases, award winners, and Mubi originals (like Oscar nominees The Substance). It's where you can watch several of Mashable's favorite films from the past few years, including The People's Joker and Bird, plus the extremely hyped TV series Hal & Harper, and all of Twin Peaks in its entirety. Through the end of the day on Dec. 2, you can sign up for an entire year of Mubi for just $75 — that's about 37% off its usual cost of $119.88.

Best Cyber Monday streaming deal still live for sports fans Opens in a new window Credit: Fox One Fox One $9.99/month for 2 months (save $10/month) Get Deal Why we like it

Although the Prime Video add-on subscription is no longer on sale, you can still score two months of live sports (and more) with Fox One's Cyber Monday deal on Fox One directly. The offer slashes 50% off the monthly cost for your first two months, so you'll pay just $9.99 per month instead of $19.99 — a much more affordable way to stream live sports. Fox One is essentially a one-stop shop for the entirety of the Fox TV portfolio, giving subscribers access to live local Fox stations, as well as Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, Big Ten Network, Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Weather, Fox Deportes, and Fox Network. Whether you want to tune into NFL games on Sundays (legally), catch the Big Ten Championship game, or just watch new episodes of Doc as they air live, Fox One has you covered.

Best Cyber Monday music streaming deal Opens in a new window Credit: Spotify Spotify Premium Free for 4 months (save $11.99/month) Get Deal Why we like it

It's not uncommon to see Amazon offering its music streaming service, Amazon Music Unlimited, for free during shopping events (this year, you can get three free months). It is, however, quite rare for Spotify to offer its Premium service for free. Through Dec. 31, new subscribers can score four free months of Spotify Premium, no questions asked. Typically $11.99 per month, that saves you nearly $50 total.

With a Premium account, you can enjoy ad-free listening, collaborate with friends in real time, download music for offline listening, get full control over your music and playlists, unlock 15 hours per month of audiobook time, and finally enjoy lossless audio. You'll also gain access to the famous Wrapped stats and new weekly listening stats.

Best free streaming deal for Cyber Monday Opens in a new window Credit: Peacock Free Peacock or Paramount+ with Walmart+ $49 at Walmart
$98 Save $49   Get Deal Why we like it

If you already have a Walmart+ membership, or if you were considering signing up to take advantage of the Walmart Black Friday 2025 sale, then you'll unlock free access to either Peacock or Paramount+ for one year. Even better, Walmart+ memberships are still 50% off for Black Friday through the end of the day on Dec. 2, so you'll pay just $49 for 12 months of access. On top of these streaming deals, you'll also get perks like free grocery and pharmacy delivery.

Best Cyber Monday streaming deal with no ads Opens in a new window Credit: Starz Starz annual subscription $11.99/year for your first year (save $58) Get Deal Why we like it

While most of the best streaming deals are on ad-supported tiers, the Starz $12/year deal is completely ad-free. Usually $69.99 per year, this Cyber Monday deal drops the price down to just $11.99 per year for your first year. That's $58 in savings. There's no end date listed for the deal, but we'd suggest signing up ASAP to lock down the savings. Starz is one of the only streamers that regularly offers deals, but this is by far the best we've seen. It may not be the most popular streaming service, but it's packed with plenty of great content, including originals like the historical drama Outlander and the female serial killer tale Sweetpea, and movies like From the World of John Wick: Ballerina and The Long Walk (coming soon).

Best streaming stick deal Opens in a new window Credit: Roku Roku Streaming Stick Plus $19
$39.99 Save $20.99   Get Deal Why we like it

There were a lot of Amazon Fire TV Sticks on sale this Black Friday, but most of those deals have dried up and the better savings are on Roku Streaming Sticks. Not to mention, they're also just better devices. When we put the Amazon Fire TV Stick head-to-head with the Roku, the Roku was the clear winner for its easy navigation, brilliant picture quality, and buffer-free streaming. Grab a Roku Streaming Stick Plus for just $19, saving you 52% off this Black Friday.

Now that the pumpkin pie leftovers are gone, we're in a fuzzy period between holidays. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are now in the past, but not all of the deals are dead. Amazon's Cyber Monday event still has a few lingering deals on speakers, headphones, TVs, and this Apple Watch.

As of Dec. 2, the Apple Watch SE 3 (GPS, 40mm) is on sale at Amazon for $199, down from the normal price of $249. That's a 20% discount which saves $50 on the watch. It's the lowest Amazon has ever offered and the same sale price we saw during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

SEE ALSO: The 13-inch 2025 M4 MacBook Air is still at its best-ever price after Cyber Monday — save $250 at Amazon

Apple announced the Apple Watch SE 3 in September and it comes with some upgrades compared to the previous model. For starters, the battery can last for up to 18 hours which means most people can get a day's wear out of the watch.

Plus, it recharges quickly. Apple says a 15-minute recharge will earn you eight hours of battery life. That means you can likely recharge while watching a show or reading before bed and then pop it back on before bed to track sleep metrics. A 45-minute charging session will get the battery to 80%, according to Apple.

The Apple Watch SE 3 also comes with an always-on display so you'll be able to read it at any time without needing to raise your wrist to get the display to kick on. The SE 3 also uses the Apple S10 chip which is the same chip found in other top-tier models like the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

If you're searching for a new Apple Watch for yourself or for an affordable model to gift this holiday season, snatch up to the Apple Watch SE 3 (GPS, 40mm) while it's still on sale at Amazon for $199. Since Cyber Monday is now officially over, it could shoot back to regular price at any moment.

Heres how to watch the Stranger Things Season 5 finale in theaters

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 11:00

Stranger Things fans can ring in 2026 with one last, super-sized trip to Hawkins, as Netflix is bringing the Stranger Things Season 5 finale to the big screen.

SEE ALSO: 11 burning questions we have for 'Stranger Things' Season 5, Volume 2

Screenings will take place in over 500 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. They begin Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET, timed to the finale's release time on Netflix. Not able to catch the series finale on New Year's Eve proper? The screenings will also continue throughout the day on Jan. 1.

Where can I get Stranger Things Season 5 finale tickets?

Fans can now check showtimes and reserve seats by visiting the Stranger Things Season 5 finale site. Tickets will also be available through ticketing sites like Fandango, as well as through specific theater sites like AMC, Regal, and Cinemark.

The finale, titled "The Rightside Up," will be two hours and five minutes long, Netflix confirmed. That makes it shorter than Season 4's two and a half hour-long finale, but still longer than the finales of the first three seasons.

Based on the first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 alone, it's clear those two hours are going to have a lot to wrap up — and that's before we add Volume 2, out Dec. 25, to the mix! What's going to happen with Will's (Noah Schnapp) newfound powers? And what does Henry Creel/Vecna's (Jamie Campbell Bower) really have in store for Hawkins' children? We're itching to return to the Upside Down to find out.

Stranger Things 5: The Finale hits theaters Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1 is now streaming. Volume 2 premieres Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. ET, and the series finale premieres Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET.

Anne Hathaway lives out a pop star nightmare in Mother Mary trailer

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 10:07

Anne Hathway channels her inner pop diva in the unsettling trailer for A24's upcoming Mother Mary.

SEE ALSO: Netflix's 'Cosmic Princess Kaguya!' trailer is nothing short of stunning

Directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight), the film introduces pop icon Mother Mary (Hathaway), who, on the eve of her big comeback performance, seeks out an enigmatic figure from her past. That figure is her former costume designer and estranged best friend Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel, I May Destroy You).

Based on the trailer, the pair begin this fateful night together at odds: Mother Mary wants a new, showstopping dress, while Sam wonders why she's come "crawling back."

Soon, though, their dress-making session morphs into something sinister. Séances, strange visions, bloody sacrifices... All that and more await Mother Mary and Sam in this psychosexual thriller.

Of course, you can't have a movie about a pop star without actual pop songs, and Mother Mary's trailer promises those in spades. The film comes with new music from Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX, and FKA Twigs, who also co-stars. Get ready for some clubby, ethereal bops, as well as concert sequences dripping with religious iconography. (She is Mother Mary, after all.)

In addition to Hathaway and Coel, Mother Mary also stars Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, and Sian Clifford.

Mother Mary hits theaters in spring of 2026.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the Metroid you want 90 percent of the time

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 10:00

A lot has happened in the 18 years since Metroid Prime 3: Corruption launched.

A generation-defining financial crisis, Donald Trump somehow getting elected president twice, and the entire existence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe come to mind. Most pertinent to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, however, is the way big-budget video games have evolved.

Unless you’re Dark Souls, it’s broadly unacceptable for players to get lost or feel too alone, two things that are generally considered key to the Metroid experience. Metroid Prime 4 feels, at times, like it’s trying to fit a square peg into a round hole; it’s got all the major ingredients you want from the series, but also small doses of quippy, overly helpful sidekicks and open-world traversal.

And the craziest part is that, dangit, it actually works pretty well. After an abrasive and uncomfortable opening hour, Metroid Prime 4 rounds into form, feeling like the Metroid Prime of old for a large majority of its 15 to 20 hour runtime. Even with the presence of chatty human NPCs, Metroid Prime 4 is a worthy addition to your Nintendo Switch 2 library, thanks to gorgeous art direction, adequately satisfying exploration, and a totally kick-ass motorcycle.

Yes, Myles McKenzie sucks

As much as I like Metroid Prime 4, it really needs to be stated that the first hour or so plays like a tribute to the “we’re so back/it’s so over” meme.

Samus Aran’s first mainline 3D adventure since the Bush administration opens with a combat-and-setpiece-heavy intro that doesn’t really feel like Metroid. Twenty minutes later, however, Samus is walking around a desolate alien planet called Viewros that’s full of beautiful, awe-inspiring ruins of a dead civilization, which very much feels like Metroid. Before long, you’re exploring a visually resplendent jungle and acquiring new powers to aid in exploration.

And then Galactic Federation engineer Myles McKenzie enters the picture. I and many others have already covered how discordant it feels for a stumbling, bumbling, and goofy voice-acted sidekick to be in Samus’s ear for any amount of time. It flatly isn’t good, and is the primary thing holding me back from wholeheartedly praising Metroid Prime 4. There are other human NPCs you’ll meet throughout the adventure, all of whom fit into pretty basic fictional soldier archetypes. Most of them aren’t as annoying as McKenzie, but their presence is still generally a little burdensome.

Having said all of that...there are moments that are legitimately kind of charming, here and there, even if I can't always tell if they're intentional or not. I particularly enjoy how everyone around Samus thinks she's really cool (correctly so) and wants to be her friend, but all she ever does is stare at them and occasionally nod in response. That made me laugh numerous times, if nothing else.

But it’s a smooth ride after that early speed bump Some of the environments are stunning. Credit: Nintendo

I imagine some of you will read that, decide Metroid Prime 4 is beyond saving, and move on with your life. I can’t stop you. Go with God, as they say. This is a matter of personal priorities; to some, Metroid is about loneliness first and foremost. To me, it’s about seeing an odd-colored door, making a mental note of it, and coming back later when you have the weapon or item that opens said door.

If you’re like me and can grin and bear the early stages of the game, before McKenzie sets up a base camp and only sparingly chimes in over comms for the rest of its duration, you’ll find that Metroid Prime 4 is largely the Metroid Prime you remember.

That means the overwhelming majority of your time will be spent trawling through abandoned research facilities, scanning computer terminals, finding the occasional power-up, and taking on a collection of generally excellent boss fights. When nobody is talking at you (which, I must stress, is most of the time), the sense of atmosphere is a delight, assisted by percussive music and perhaps the best visuals on Switch 2 so far, including a flawless frame rate.

I particularly liked the Ice Belt, a haunting, frozen-over facility where Samus’s arm cannon gradually gathers a coat of frost as you explore. While a couple of the areas in Prime 4 are a little more linear than I’d like, Ice Belt feels like Metroid Prime at its best, with level design that incentivizes careful observation and fun Morph Ball shortcuts that make the entire area satisfyingly fold in on itself over time.

All of Prime 4’s bespoke levels really shine on your second run through them, once you’ve gotten all the abilities and can freely unlock every secret there is to find. I think the most fun I had with this game was when I did this, right before setting off for the climactic final confrontation. I am very pleased to report that this game still has the Metroid juice most of the time.

Zooming around the desert Vi-O-La rocks. Credit: Nintendo

That said, Metroid Prime 4 also finds time to carve out its own space in the series, and the main way it does that is through the Sol Valley, a big desert area that acts as a hub connecting the levels, and Vi-O-La, a super sick motorcycle you unlock early on to traverse the wastes.

You’ll spend a decent chunk of Prime 4 speeding across the desert, which, well, looks like a desert. I imagine this will ruffle some feathers out there, but I’m in favor of it for a few reasons. One is that Sol Valley is easily the loneliest area in the game, as it’s the one place where (for the most part) Samus is free to operate at her leisure without needing to link up with any of her new allies. Vi-O-La itself is also a lot of fun to drive, especially once you unlock auxiliary boost charges that let you really zoom around the place.

Yes, a lot of it is empty, though that doesn’t mean it’s without secrets to find. I actually dig this because I’m a sucker for vast spaces in games where every inch isn’t necessarily meant to be interacted with. So often, video game worlds feel like theme parks where everything exists for the enjoyment of the player. Sol Valley uses its big empty spaces to communicate the desolation that Viewros has suffered pretty well, I think. As a bonus, even though it’s shaped like an open-world map, it’s mostly bereft of the kind of map icon vomit you’d find in something like Assassin’s Creed. There aren’t a million disposable side activities and collectibles here. When you find something, it really feels like you’ve found something.

It’s also a cleaner way to link together the various levels than in Prime 3, a game whose various zones felt disconnected from one another. Everything feels fairly contiguous here, even if it’s not quite as Metroid-y as the elevator-based travel in the original Prime

It doesn’t approach the OG Metroid Prime, but that’s fine Look at the frost on the gun. Credit: Nintendo

One detail that might drag Prime 4 down in the eyes of some players is that it’s not the first game, which is legitimately one of the finest 3D action-adventure games ever made. That’s a really lofty and, I would argue, unfair standard to hold anything to, especially considering the rocky development cycle Prime 4 went through.

I am here to tell you that Prime 4 is not as good as the original. It’s not as lonely and the level design isn’t quite as elaborate. I have a couple of other small quibbles, too, like a relative lack of cool suit changes and the fact that too many of the abilities you unlock are things that have been in previous Metroid games.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. It’s easy and reasonable to be apprehensive about the first Prime game in nearly two decades. I get it, I really do, especially considering the pre-release whiplash of finding out Myles McKenzie exists. But if you can find it within yourself to give Prime 4 an earnest shot, like I did, you might just find that hopping into Samus’s power suit is every bit as enjoyable as it was on the GameCube and Wii.

It’s good to have Samus back, if nothing else.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on Dec. 4.

When Spotify Wrapped 2025 comes out, how to view it

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 09:25

Do you even have good taste in music if you can't share it online?

If you're a Spotify user, of course, that's not really a concern: It's become a yearly tradition to share your music taste with Spotify Wrapped. As we inch toward the end of October, Wrapped should be coming soon. That means you'll be able to share your taste, top songs, favorite albums, and most beloved artists with all of your friends, whether they want to see it or not.

To be clear, the 2025 version of Wrapped hasn't been released yet, but the wait shouldn't be too long. Here's what we know.

When will Spotify Wrapped be released?

The short answer is: We don't know, exactly. The slightly longer answer is: We don't know, but we have an educated guess when it will be.

Last year, Wrapped dropped on Wednesday, Dec. 4. That was the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving. In 2023, it was released on Wednesday, Nov. 29. That was — you guessed it — the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving.

Should the pattern hold, that means 2025 Spotify Wrapped would be released on Wednesday, Dec. 3. That's not a guarantee, by any means, but you can likely expect Wrapped to drop around that time, at the very least.

SEE ALSO: Why artists are leaving Spotify — and how you can, too How to view Spotify Wrapped

It shouldn't be difficult to find your Wrapped on the day it releases.

You'll likely get a notification letting you know it's ready. The Spotify app, typically speaking, also places a banner or section within your homepage that is hard to miss. Should all that fail, you can also head to the Wrapped section on Spotify's website.

The internet will certainly love the day Wrapped drops, but for now, we're still left waiting.

Apple Music Replay 25 is more personal than ever

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 09:00

2025 is nearly over, and it's the time of the year when music streaming services compete to create the best overview of your yearly music journey.

Today, Apple Music launched its Apple Music Replay '25, and as always, the company is highlighting the facts that it's more personal than ever.

Having seen a demo beforehand, I do have to agree. Yes, it's still a replay of your favorite artists, albums, and songs of the year, with some data sprinkled on top, telling you how many minutes you've spent listening to music, or the number of artists you listened to.

SEE ALSO: Apple was a role model, until it wasn't

However, you'll also find out which were the new artists that you discovered this year; which artists you kept coming back to, and which artists made a comeback into your rotation.

And, of course, you get a playlist with all your favorite songs of the year inside, as well as your monthly Replay highlights. Finally, if you want to listen to all of the songs you've played the most since joining Apple Music, you can do so in the Replay All Time playlist.

That's a lot of minutes played. Credit: Apple

Not everything will show up for every user, making the experience a bit adventure-like. The Replay and all the accompanying playlists and experiences can be accessed in the Home tab in Apple Music.

Alongside the personalized Replay, Apple also revealed its 2025 year-end charts; this time, the chart is topped by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ unavoidable hit “APT.”

Finally, Apple added some new experiences for the artists, which also get a replay of their own, showing them new metrics such as listenership growth, and year-over-year performance summaries.

Netflixs Cosmic Princess Kaguya! trailer is nothing short of stunning

Tue, 12/02/2025 - 08:17

Shingo Yamashita's Cosmic Princess Kaguya! is hitting Netflix in January, and judging by the above trailer, we're in for an absolute treat.

It's the Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 opening sequence director's feature debut, set in the dazzling, music-fuelled world of Tsukuyomi. According to Netflix's Tudum, the anime film is inspired by Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.

In the trailer, former moon resident Kaguya (voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi) befriends Earthling, songwriter, and student Iroha (Anna Nagase). Not wanting to return to her lunar home, Kaguya instead wants to become a top idol and streamer, specifically in the virtual realm of Tsukuyomi. There, she meets "the diva of Tsukuyomi," Yachiyo (Saori Hayami), who sings Cosmic Princess Kaguya!'s main theme "Ex-Otogibanashi" ("Ex-Fairy Tale"), composed for the movie by Vocaloid producer ryo (supercell).

How will Kaguya reach her dream? By singing one of Iroha's compositions, the HoneyWorks-written "Watashiha Watashinokotoga Suki" ("I like who I am"), which you hear a snippet of in the trailer. And Vocaloid fans, you can also expect songs by kz (livetune), Aqu3ra, yuigot, and 40mP in the movie too.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya! is streaming on Netflix on Jan. 22.

Social media companies to be held liable for financial scams under new EU rules

Thu, 11/27/2025 - 15:01

The European Union passed a new law early Thursday morning that will hold social media platforms like Meta and TikTok liable for financial fraud — a major escalation in the bloc’s attempt to rein in Big Tech.

After hours of late-night negotiations, EU lawmakers approved the measure, adding another layer of regulatory pressure on companies that have spent years lobbying Washington to counter the EU’s aggressive antitrust and content-moderation agenda. The law builds on the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA), which curbs the spread of illegal content and prevent tech giants like Google, Amazon, and Meta from leveraging their dominance to expand across the internet.

SEE ALSO: U.S. trade court blocks President Trump's tariffs in surprise ruling. What happens now? (Updated)

Violating either law can trigger massive fines, something the tech sector — and U.S. President Donald Trump — have repeatedly pushed back against. Trump has accused the EU of "discriminating" against American companies, framing the bloc’s enforcement as an attack on U.S. innovation.

Much of the final stretch of deliberations centered on who should shoulder the blame when these scams happen. Several MEPs argued that Big Tech and banks share equal responsibility, since platforms host the scams and banks process the money. However, European governments pushed back, arguing that banks should only be held accountable when their own safeguards fail.

The result is a compromise: banks will reimburse victims when a scammer impersonates the bank or when a financial transaction goes through without the customer’s consent, according to the EU release.

The new fraud-liability rules arrive as social media platforms have become the primary target for investment scams, impersonation schemes, and questionable ads of every kind. Under the law, platforms will now be required to compensate banks when a user is defrauded, and it’s clear the company failed to remove a reported scam.

The top 6 beauty deals of Black Friday, sourced by someone who tests beauty tech

Thu, 11/27/2025 - 14:38

One of the biggest advantages of being a beauty tech product tester is that I get to see firsthand if the latest multi-styler, hair dryer, or microcurrent device is worth the hype.

Combined with the experience of covering Black Friday deals for the past four years, I feel particularly well prepared to determine which beauty savings are actually worth picking up during the shopping holiday. Spoiler alert: not everything with a markdown is an exceptional deal. Plus, as someone with plenty of experience testing out the high-end products (aka basically Dyson's entire lineup) against the many dupes they inspire and seeing the latter perform well in many cases, I especially advise against adding something to your cart simply because it has the higher price tag or more recognizable brand name.

SEE ALSO: Everything to know about Black Friday 2025: Best early deals, sale dates, price matching, and more

With that in mind, I've gathered the top six beauty deals from Black Friday that I've spotted so far. Find my recs (and some buying advice) below:

Dyson Supersonic Nural

I'll be the first person to say that while the Supersonic is my favorite hair tool from Dyson, it's also probably overpriced for most people, especially with all the great dupes out there (more on that below). That said, it is a nice luxury upgrade. If you're determined to pick one up this Black Friday, skip the $379 standard Supersonic and spend the extra $20 to get the Supersonic Nural on sale for $379. It has better variation in the attachments, automatic temperature adjustment with some attachments, and a much better (and more unique) diffuser. If you're interested in the Nural but that sounds too expensive, you can also grab a refurbished one at Walmart for $199.99.

$549 Save $150   Get Deal Dyson Airwrap i.d.

To be honest, I was slightly underwhelmed by the Airwrap when I first tested it out — the tech was cool, but not as easy to use as social media would have you believe. Plus, the curling barrels gave my hair more of a blown-out than truly curled look, and it fell by the end of the day. With the Dyson Airwrap i.d., the brand has addressed these issues. One of the curling barrels has a tapered design, which helped me achieve tighter, prettier, and longer-lasting curls. The other piece of the puzzle was the automatic temperature changing you can activate directly through the tool or via the Dyson app, which adjusts the heat as the hair wraps, holds around the barrel, and gets hit with the cool shot for a set amount of time. Though I anticipated it might feel gimmicky, it made styling feel way less effortful on my part.

The OG Airwrap used to go for $599 at full price, and the Airwrap i.d. is $649. However, this deal takes it down to $499.99, the same sale price found on the original Airwrap during shopping holidays (including this time around). This is still a hefty price, so if curling your hair is still a priority, I recommend checking out the T3 Aire 360 — the ceramic barrels help create and lock in curls.

$649.99 Save $150   Get Deal Shark FlexStyle

The Shark FlexStyle is the original Airwrap dupe, and still stands out as one of the best. The performance is similar enough to the Airwrap that it's what I tell my friends and family to buy when they ask whether or not they should buy a Dyson Airwrap. Multiple Mashable shopping reporters and editors have purchased the tool for themselves, and all of them sing its praises. The main difference between the Shark and the more expensive tool is that you won't get the fancy heat-adjusting cycle of the Airwrap i.d., and you have to switch out the curling barrel to change the direction of the curl. (Though as a tip, you can just flip the styler upside down to easily change the direction of the curl without changing the barrel.) For $199, it's by far the best value multi-styler. And if you want a more curated version, Shark is also offering the build-your-own model, which allows you to pick four attachments for $179.

$349.99 Save $150.99   Get Deal Laifen Swift hair dryer

Remember what I said about Dyson Supersonic dupes being worth a look? Enter: the Laifen Swift SE, one of the best Dyson dupes I've tried. It's lightweight, powerful, relatively quiet (as far as hair dryers go), and hasn't crapped out on me after years of use. And at the sale price of $97.99, it's a fraction of the cost of the Supersonic. It comes with basic attachments that do the job well. You can also pick up an even cheaper model of the dryer, the Swift SE Lite, for $71.99. It's slightly less powerful, with a shiny plastic casing (as compared to the matte one found on the regular Swift, but if you blow-dry your hair less often or simply want a more bargain option, it's also a great choice.)

Opens in a new window Credit: Laifen Laifen Swift $97.99 at Amazon
$139.99 Save $42.00   Get Deal Shark FacialPro Glow

Sadly, the Shark CryoGlow and FlexFusion bundle deal that cropped up ahead of Black Friday didn't manage to stay in stock, but you can still grab the Shark FacialPro Glow for $50 off. In her first impressions review of the device, Senior Shopping Reporter Leah Stodart wrote, "the Shark FacialPro Glow literally felt like it was pumping life back into my skin. It felt so soft and plump after just a single extraction session at night and a single de-puffing session the next morning, and even that feels like a testament to its effectiveness."

Shark FacialPro Glow $349 at Amazon
$399.99 Save $50.99   See It at Amazon T3 Curling Straightener

I had the chance to test out T3's Curling Straightener when it launched earlier this year, and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed using it. As someone who primarily curls their hair with a regular straightening iron, I was skeptical that the rounded edges and cool tip would do much in the way of ease and styling results, but on both fronts T3's hot tool performed better than a standard straightener, adding more volume and versatility in how I could style my hair. As a newer product, it hasn't gone on sale often, and at $139.99, it's hit a new record-low price.

I’m replaying Tomb Raider for the 100th time, and these PS5 Black Friday deals are fueling my habit

I’m not a "hardcore" gamer. I don’t spend eight hours a day online, and I’m definitely not competing in any tournaments. But I do play my PS5 every single day — usually for about 15 minutes right before dinner to decompress. Lately, I’ve been replaying the entire Tomb Raider trilogy (I’m on the third one now, and it holds up), but I also love the classics like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and Kingdom Hearts.

Because I’m actually buying games and accessories for my own setup (and for my nephews this holiday), I tend to keep an eye on these prices throughout the year, so I know when a "deal" is actually just the standard price in a fancy font.

I’ve combed through the Black Friday ads from Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, and PlayStation Direct to find the discounts that are actually worth it. Here are the best PS5 deals live right now.

Read our full Astro Bot review.

I didn't know anything about Astro until my dad asked me if I'd "found the secret game in the PS5" yet. Once I found Astro's Playroom (the free game pre-installed on every console), I spent all night playing it and bought the full Astro Bot game as soon as it came out. It’s pure joy in game form — creative, colorful, and genuinely fun to play. (It won Game of the Year at the 2024 Game Awards.) My youngest nephew, Aubry, is obsessed with it; he literally has posters of the little bot in his room and begs to play it every time he comes over.

First-party Sony titles tend to hold their value, so seeing it drop this low is a win. You can grab it for $39.97 at Amazon, but if you want to save every penny, it's slightly cheaper at $39.59 at PlayStation Direct.

It's not often we see a deal on PlayStation Plus, but the mega gaming company must know we need a treat in 2025, so they're offering a 33% discount. To snag this deal, you'll need to sign up before Dec. 5 for any level of annual PlayStation Plus membership. The subscription gives payers access to hundreds of games from the Gaming Catalog, online multiplayer access, and tons more.

If you’re looking for a "big gift" for the serious gamer in your life, the DualSense Edge is a solid option. I bought this controller for my eldest nephew, Landon, last Christmas, and he loved it. It’s the "pro" version of the standard controller, meaning it has customizable buttons, swappable stick modules (a lifesaver for stick drift), and adjustable triggers. It doesn't usually go on sale (unless it's Prime Day or holiday season), so saving $31 is a pretty good deal. You can grab it for $169 at Amazon, or for essentially the same price ($169.99) directly from PlayStation.

If you don’t need all the pro features, the standard DualSense Wireless Controller is also on sale for $54.99 at both Amazon and PlayStation. My mom bought the pink one for my sister last year, and it’s a perfect, practical gift for anyone who needs a spare.

We’re skipping the PS5 Pro this year — at $649 without a disc drive or stand, it’s a hard sell for anyone who isn't a hardcore pixel-peeper. Instead, I recommend getting the standard PS5 Slim Disc Edition. You'll get the same great library of games, 4K graphics, and lightning-fast load times, plus the ability to actually play discs (because sometimes you just want to pop in a Blu-ray or a used game you found cheap). It’s currently $449.99 at both Amazon and PlayStation Direct, saving you a cool $50.

What about the Apple Watch Ultra 3? Sadly, the latest Apple Ultra is not on sale, but lucky for you, as long as you upgrade to watchOS 26, the Ultra 2 has 99% of the same features.

If you're in the market for a new Apple Watch but don't want to spend big money, the 2nd-generation Apple Watch SE (GPS, 40mm) just got a price cut at Walmart, where it's available for $129 for a limited time only.

Apple has moved on to the Apple Watch SE 3 (which is also on sale), but that means you can snag great discounts on the previous model, and today is a solid case in point. But the older model is still great, offering tons of Apple Watch essentials like sleep tracking, fitness metrics, fall detection, and emergency SOS. Since this model is on sale for only $129, it could be a great gifting option or perfect for those new to the wonderful world of smartwatches.

As a tech editor, I found 40+ Black Friday tech deals Id recommend to friends and family: Apple, Samsung, DJI, Nintendo on sale

Thu, 11/27/2025 - 13:53

As Mashable's tech editor, I get early access to a lot of really cool products. I also have a pretty deep knowledge of the coolest new gadgets of 2025, from the latest virtual reality tech to everyday fitness trackers and new Apple laptops. I've also been covering Black Friday sales since 2019, so I know what discounts to expect and which deals you can safely skip.

In this guide, you'll find all the best Black Friday tech deals I'd actually recommend to my friends and family. Before recommending a Samsung QLED TV or Anker charger, I'll first make sure that the price is actually a good deal. Online retailers are notorious for exaggerating their sales, but I've done the work for you to find the biggest genuine discounts at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and beyond.

Keep checking back as I add new discounts on the season's best new gadgets, toys, wearables, and tech gifts. I've personally tested many of the products in this guide, while others have been tested by other Mashable reporters. If you see a deal in this story, it's because I'd truly recommend that product — and at that price — to my loved ones.

My favorite Kindle

I literally collect rare books, so when I tell you I'm a book nerd, you can believe me. And this is the Kindle that stores my digital library — the Kindle Paperwhite. For Black Friday, it's on sale for $124.99, but I actually recommend paying a little more for the version without lockscreen ads. The truth is, while we also loved the longer-lasting Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra Watch 3, the new SE 3 is the right pick for the vast majority of people. This is a true lifestyle smartwatch that also does double duty as a fitness and sleep tracker. Plus, it even has an always-on Retina OLED display. At Amazon, you can pick up this smartwatch for $199.99, a 20% discount ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Bose recently released a new version of its flagship noise-canceling headphones, and in our review, we said the new model is nearly identical to the original. However, the new version will set you back $449, which is a big ask in this economy. Meanwhile, the Gen 1 version on sale for $298 is still one of the best, most comfortable headphones in the world. While it's possible these headphones might get a bigger price drop come Nov. 28, don't count on it. I love these headphones, and this is easily one of the best Prime Day tech deals of the year so far.

Alexa informed me that New York City faces its first freeze warning of the season, and now I'm mad at her. However, I do have something to keep the chill away. I've been using and recommending these cute electric hand warmers for years, and they're one of my favorite undiscovered gems at Amazon. They're one of my go-to stocking stuffers, and they'll keep your hands toasty and warm all winter long. If you're looking for tech deals under $25, this is my personal recommendation.

Have you heard about the upcoming ban on DJI drones? If not, then we have very bad news: DJI drones are almost certainly set to be banned in the U.S. by year's end, which means this is your last chance to buy one. So long as you're already flying, the potential ban shouldn't affect you, a DJI representative recently told me. Unfortunately, you can only buy these drones from third-party sellers at retailers like Amazon, but we think the risk is worth the reward in this case.

I've said it before: Samsung's cult-favorite art TV, The Frame, is the best TV in the world. This super-thin TV doubles as an art gallery for your living room, adding to your home's decor instead of distracting from it. The 2025 model of The Frame has a fancy new AI processor, as well as a magic-like matte, anti-glare display. While you can catch this TV on sale at any retailer you like, Amazon currently has the best price.

The M4 chip is faster than anything you'll find in the Windows world, which means this laptop is faster and more efficient than the competition. Its $749 price at Amazon is a record discount, and we're not expecting the price to drop any lower (though Apple could surprise us).

Curved monitors take some getting used to, but once you've enjoyed the immersive gaming experience they deliver, you likely won't go back. The 45-inch LG Ultragear OLED's WQHD display features a steep 800R curvature and 21:9 aspect ratio, which means the screen will quite literally wrap the action around you. It packs a peak brightness up to 1,300 nits, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03ms response time, so gameplay is fast, smooth, and vibrant. It's also compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync and offers plenty of ports for your gaming peripherals. Usually an outrageous $1,699.99, it's down to only $896.99 for Black Friday. That's nearly 50% in savings.

Like the LG monitor, it also boasts a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of 0.03ms for smooth, lag-free gameplay, and compatibility with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync for tear-free visuals and low latency. It supports a range of aspect ratios between 24.5 inches and 27 inches, so you can select what works best for specific games. FWIW, our friends at PCMag (also owned by Ziff Davis) called it a "near-perfect 4K OLED gaming display."

It also features high-quality visuals with a 5,120 x 1,440 pixel display, a solid 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, 110 pixels per inch, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and HDR support, and the ability to use it as a two-in-one display. Depending on who you ask, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is either pure holiday magic or three hours of televised torment. Truly a choose-your-own-adventure situation that remains a deeply rooted part of Thanksgiving tradition regardless of where you land on the topic.

This year’s parade actually delivered some solid entertainment, especially if you’re an elder millennial. We got performances from Busta Rhymes, Lil Jon, and Shaggy — basically the soundtrack of every early-2000s house party. And for Gen Z and Gen Alpha, the parade threw in a K-pop Demon Hunter performance, so everyone got at least one moment to yell, "Oh my god, I know them!"

However, the thing that caught everyone by surprise was the appearance of Mr. Fantasy — KJ Apa’s chaotic, wig-wearing TikTok alter ego — materializing at the Macy’s Parade like a fever dream come to life.

Thus, it's been a great time for social media.

Without the full backstory behind Apa’s alter ego, many viewers were not thrilled to see Mr. Fantasy haunting their Thanksgiving morning. But hey, at least Busta Rhymes is here.
