UPDATE: Jul. 15, 2024, 6:50 p.m. EDT This list has been refreshed with the latest deals on tablets live ahead of Prime Day, including a new Fire Max 11 and OnePlus tablet deal.
We rounded up the best tablet deals ahead of Prime Day 2024. Check out our top picks:
Best Early Prime Day Tablet Deals Best iPad deal Apple iPad Air, 11-inch (M2, 1TB, WiFi) $1,024 at Amazon (Save $75) Get Deal Best Android tablet deal OnePlus Pad 11.6-inch (128GB) $399.99 at Amazon (Save $80) Get Deal Best Amazon tablet deal Amazon Fire Max 11 $139.99 at Amazon (Save $90) Get DealPrime Day 2024 is coming very soon — Amazon confirmed the sale will run July 16 and 17. Now that we all have it marked on our calendars, we're officially on the hunt for early deals. We know the bulk of discounts won't arrive until Prime Day starts, but that doesn't mean some hidden gems won't show up on TVs, laptops, and more.
We're tracking the best tablet deals so you don't have to. With the launch of new iPads from Apple earlier this year, we're staying laser-focused on markdowns on the latest tech. We also expect to see prices slashed on older generations of still-great tech.
SEE ALSO: Prime Day 2024 is coming: Here are the best live deals to shop earlyWhile it doesn't appear that the current savings are huge, that's because the latest iPad Air and iPad Pro are still so new — we're still seeing them at their lowest prices ever.
Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. Amazon's exclusive invite-only deals are marked with a 📨.
Best iPad deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple iPad Air, 11-inch (M2, 1TB, WiFi) 🔥 $1,024.00 at AmazonThe latest iPad Air is loaded with Apple's powerful M2 chip. The M2 processing speed impressed us when we saw it in the MacBook Air, and now it makes the iPad Air just as mighty. The latest iPad Air was just released in May, but we're watching its price drop and drop ahead of Prime Day. Currently, it's down to $1,024, giving you $75 off, which may not seem like a lot, but it's still its lowest price so far. Loaded with 1TB of storage and processing speed to rival a laptop, this is a certified good deal.

The OnePlus Pad is the first tablet ever from the brand, and it came out swinging. Our sister site PC Mag (owned by Mahsable's publisher, Ziff Davis) deemed it a great option for existing OnePlus phone owners. Those used to iPad speeds might find the tablet a bit sluggish, but the drop to this lowest price ever can help make up for that — along with the four-speaker sound, an 11.61-inch LCD display, and long battery life.

The Amazon Fire Max 11 is the best runner-up to the iPad among the tablets we tested. It's extremely budget-friendly, starting at $229.99. This is best for someone who doesn't need a ton of processing speed or storage — it only has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. However, if you're on a budget, it might be worth the sacrifice. Plus, this early Prime Day deal brings the Amazon Fire Max 11 to its best price ever of $139.99, taking $90 off for 39% savings.

UPDATE: Jul. 11, 2024, 10:50 a.m. EDT This article has been updated with the latest MacBook deals ahead of Amazon Prime Day.
Amazon Prime Day is just around the corner, and in usual Prime Day fashion, the savings are already starting to trickle in. Lots of deals are ready to shop as we speak, especially when it comes to Apple's beloved MacBooks (including the new M3 models).
SEE ALSO: Amazon Prime Day is just around the corner — here's how to find the best dealsBelow, we've put together a list of all the early Prime Day MacBook deals that you can scoop up right now. We expect these prices to get even lower, but if you need one as soon as possible, you can still save up to $300.

Best early Prime Day MacBook deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple MacBook Air, 13-inch (Apple M2, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD)🔥 $799.00 at AmazonRead Mashable's full review of the 13-inch M2 Apple MacBook Air.
It may not be the most advanced MacBook spec-wise, but we consider the M2 MacBook Air the best MacBook for most people. The M2 chip is by no means weak, still powering you through having too many tabs open while remaining incredibly portable. At $799, this is the absolute lowest price we've ever seen this laptop by about $30, and the lowest price we've ever seen on any M2 machine. To put it into perspective: just one week ago, the lowest price you could find the M1 MacBook Air for was $699, putting only a $100 difference between the 2020 laptop and this 2022 model.

These are our top picks for laptop deals ahead of Prime Day 2024:
The best early Prime Day laptop deals at a glance: Best MacBook deal Apple MacBook Air, 13-inch (M3, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) $898.99 at Amazon (save $201) Get Deal Best Windows laptop deal LG gram 17 (Intel Core Ultra 5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) $899.99 at Amazon (save $500 with Prime) Get Deal Best HP Chromebook deal ✨ HP Chromebook, 14-inch (Intel Celeron N4020, 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC) $198 at Amazon (save $71.99) Get DealOn any given day, Amazon's best laptop deals include some markdowns on Apple MacBooks... and not much else. The retail giant lists a lot of older and/or discontinued PCs that aren't super worth it. Amazon also has a penchant for inflating sticker prices, making discounts look steeper than they really are.
Those factors, combined with the heavy presence of sketchy third-party sellers among Amazon's laptop listings, make it one of the worst places to buy a laptop on the internet (again, unless you're shopping for MacBooks). We usually recommend shopping at Best Buy or going directly to the manufacturer's online store instead.
SEE ALSO: Prime Day 2024 is almost here: 150+ of the best early deals you can shop right nowThe fine print here is that Amazon usually gets its act together for major savings events, including its flagship Prime Day sale (set for July 16 and 17). When such sales are live, it's way easier to find heftier discounts on new laptops shipped and sold by Amazon itself — though it still behooves savvy shoppers to cross-check prices elsewhere, just in case.
After a couple of weeks of lousy early Prime Day laptop deals from Amazon, those hefty discounts are finally starting to appear the day before the sale starts. (Best Buy's Black Friday in July sale might've been the motivation it needed.) It helps if you're a brand loyalist: Amazon's usual selection of MacBook Airs and Pros have all hit record-low prices in the eleventh hour, while a handful of clamshell and 2-in-1 LG gram laptops are $300 to $500 off for the Windows crew. I'll continue to keep track of the best Prime Day laptop deals on Prime Day proper, so check back soon (and often) if you're hoping to see a different model or configuration marked down.
Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. I've cross-checked all pricing with manufacturers' sites to make sure the deals are legit. (If Amazon had the wrong MSRP, I corrected it and adjusted the discount accordingly.) I've also weeded out laptops sold by third-party sellers — if they have "Ships from/Sold by Amazon.com" underneath their "Buy Now" button, we're cool.
Best MacBook deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Our pick: Apple MacBook Air, 13-inch (M3, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) 🔥 $898.99 at AmazonRead Mashable's full review of the 15-inch Apple MacBook Air (M3).
Apple upgraded its latest MacBook Air with WiFi 6E support, the ability to drive two external monitors at the same time (with its lid closed), and an M3 chip that was 20% faster than its predecessor's CPU in our testing. It "may seem like a simple refresh," said Mashable Tech Editor Kim Gedeon, "but as someone who owns the M2 MacBook Air, I’d definitely trade it in for the new-generation model."
After chilling at $999 for the past few weeks, the 13-inch base model has dropped to $898 — that's an 18% savings and its lowest price on Amazon to date. The 15-inch version with a bigger display and two extra speakers is also on sale at its own record-low of $1,099 (normally $1,299). They're both technically $50 cheaper at Best Buy, but only for shoppers with a paid (Plus or Total) My Best Buy membership. Amazon's discounts aren't paywalled.

Powered by an all-new Intel Core Ultra 5 125H processor, the LG gram 17 is a thin big-screener that's impressively light for its size: it weighs in at just 2.96 pounds, making it even airier than a 15-inch M3 MacBook Air.
This particular configuration with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage actually retails for $1,399.99 on the LG website, meaning Amazon's pre-Prime Day price of $899.99 is an even better deal than advertised. (Ignore its listed "typical price" of $1,245.81.) Note that access is limited to Prime members.

The HP Chromebook, 14-inch (Intel Celeron N4020, 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC) isn't the newest or most powerful model, but at only $198, it offers a decent-sized 14-inch screen, 4K graphics, and enough processing power for everyday tasks.
While it has limited onboard storage (32GB eMMC), Chromebooks are optimized for cloud-based storage solutions, making this less of an issue for users who primarily work online. It also has 4GB of RAM and runs Chrome OS, so it's not a replacement for a full-featured Windows laptop. However, its long battery life and compact design make it a practical choice for commuters, students, and others who need a basic machine for browsing, streaming, and getting work done.

Prime Day 2024 is just days away, kicking off July 16 and 17. However, you can start shopping now since we know you don't want to wait for the markdowns, especially on major brands, so we're on the hunt — or should we say...watch?
Apple Watch models are on sale at Amazon ahead of Prime Day. Both the SE and Series 9 watches are marked down with up to 24% savings. With this deal, you can start tracking your workouts and health metrics for under $200. And we know it's summer, so you have to be ready to jump-in a body of water at any given moment. These Apple Watches aren't just on sale — they're waterproof.
Best Apple Watch SE deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple Watch SE (2nd gen, GPS, 40mm) $189.00 at AmazonAlready a budget-friendly option, the Apple Watch SE is down to $189 ahead of Prime Day. That's just $10 more than its lowest price ever during Black Friday 2023. While it is affordable, it still has the advanced tech you want in a smartwatch. The bright retina display tracks your heart rate and watches for irregular rhythm. You can track your workouts — even in the water — as it's water-resistant up to 50m. Right now, you'll save $60 for 24% savings. We're not sure what Prime Day will bring, but we can confidently say, this is a good deal.
Best Apple Watch Series 9 deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS, 45mm) $329.00 at AmazonFor the latest technology, look to the Apple Watch Series 9. It's loaded with bigger displays, offering either a 41 or 45 mm display over the SE's 40 and 44mm options. It has an always-on retina display, so you don't have to wake it up every time you need to check the time. The health metric offerings are even more extensive on the Series 9 with the ECG app and temperature sensing. Like the SE, it's water-resistant, so you can jump in the water care free. It's down to its lowest price ever of $329, saving you $99.01 for 23% off.

Though the sale formally runs on July 16 and 17, we started tracking the best fitness tracker deals at Amazon weeks in advance. Things started pretty slow, with some Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy deals running the show, but a few Garmin, Polar, and OnePlus deals have trickled in as we're less than 24 hours out from the official Prime Day start. Fitbit deals are still completely MIA, aside from a few sketchy third-party sellers, but we definitely expect those to pop up.

Early Prime Day smartwatch and fitness tracker deals Opens in a new window Credit: Samsung Our pick: Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (Bluetooth, 40mm) $209.99 at AmazonLaunched last summer, Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 was dubbed the "king of the Android smartwatch mountain" by Mashable tech reporter Alex Perry. The sixth iteration saw a suite of added sleep and fitness features, including a nuanced breakdown of sleep habits, sleep coaching, personalized heart rate zones, and irregular heart rate notifications. Plus, it lasts longer on a single charge and features a 20 percent larger display than previous models. The 40mm version with Bluetooth dropped to a record-low $196.95 at Amazon last week, but already jumped up to $209.99. That's still an awesome deal with $90 off the MSRP, but we're really keeping an eye on it as Prime Day officially hits. We're expecting an even better deal on the big day.

The next few days are a bit of a waiting game to see what sought-after products will go on sale. Luckily for you, we're on top of our game finding the early deals, including on the latest iPads from Apple.
These discounts might not seem like much, less than $100 off each model, but these are the lowest prices ever on these iPads. The spring release of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro brought noteworthy tech, creating tablets with as much power as the best laptops we've tested. So while these deals seem subtle, we can confirm they're the best prices on iPads right now.
Don't worry, we're not so patiently waiting to see what Prime Day brings.
Note: We'll be updating this article with the latest prices as we get closer to the main event. All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. Amazon's exclusive invite-only deals are marked with a 📨.
Best iPad deal Opens in a new window Credit: Amazon Apple iPad 9th generation, 10.2-inch (A13, WiFi, 64GB) ✨ $249.00 at AmazonAmong the tablets we've tested, the iPad 9th generation is the best for most people. This 2021 model isn't the newest tech, especially with the release of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro, however, it's a great value. It has all the essentials you want in an iPad as the A13 lets you stream, read, and work. When not on sale, it comes in at $329, about $20 cheaper than the iPad 10th generation, but the savings are even bigger ahead of Prime Day. Now, you can get the iPad 9th generation for $249, saving you $80 for 24% off.
Best iPad Air deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple iPad Air, 11-inch (M2, WiFi, 1TB) 🔥 $1,024.00 at AmazonLoaded with the M2 chip, the iPad Air is a tablet with the power of a laptop. It's our best overall iPad, as it goes beyond just entertainment — it can be a professional workspace too. The M2 chip powers creatives who want to illustrate and with 1TB of storage, you won't run out of space when starting new projects. This iPad Air usually starts at $1,099, but it's currently down to $1,024, knocking $75 off the price. Those 7% savings bring it down to its lowest price, unbeatable for the amount of power and storage you're getting.
Best iPad Pro deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple iPad Pro, 11-inch (M4, WiFi, 256GB) 🔥✨ $928.00 at AmazonThe iPad Pro is not only the most advanced tablet we've ever seen, but maybe the most advanced computing power period. If you need an iPad for professional use, something that can accomplish all your work, from photo to video editing, look no further than the iPad Pro which scored a 14,586 on the Geekbench 6 test, which is better performance than both the M3 Macbook Air and M3 Macbook Pro.
Ahead of Prime Day, you can get the latest iPad Pro for $928, saving you $71. Like the rest of the tablets on this list, those 7% savings might seem minor, but it's the lowest price we've ever seen.
Best iPad Mini deal Opens in a new window Credit: Amazon Apple iPad Mini, 8.3-inch (A15, WiFi, 64GB) ✨ $399.99 at AmazonIn some ways, the iPad Mini is Apple's answer to an e-reader. That's oversimplifying it for sure, as the Mini can do everything you expect from an iPad — browse the internet, stream shows, play games — but it does so in a compact package, giving it a better hand feel for reading.
Ahead of Prime Day, the iPad Mini is down to $399.99, giving you $99.01. That saves you 20% — plenty of savings you can reallocate to your summer book budget.

Apple AirTags have benefitted from quite the flattering news cycle recently. And while you might not be looking to crack a case of theft, AirTags still help you find your belongings. Attach them to your keys, wallet, or anything else you might frequently misplace, and you can see their location on the Find My app.
Ahead of Prime Day 2024, which runs July 16 and 17, we're keeping our eyes peeled for the best tech deals, and that includes AirTags. Amazon is selling singular AirTags at a 14% discount ahead of Prime Day, but the best deal comes from a different retailer. Get a jumpstart on AirTag deals now.
Best AirTag 1-pack deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Best AirTag 1-pack deal $24.99 at AmazonAirTags sell as singles or in packs of four. Not sure if you're ready to commit to a pack? Dip your toes in with a singular AirTag, currently marked down at Amazon. Normally priced at $29, they're on sale for $24.99, saving you $4.01. This is the lowest recorded price for AirTags on Amazon, however, we're eager to see if they drop further come Prime Day.
Best AirTag 4-pack deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirTag, 4-pack $79.99 at AmazonThe most affordable way to shop AirTags is to purchase them in a pack of four, which has an MSRP of $99, making each one $24.75 — cheaper than when you purchase them individually. However, right now you can find them for $79.99 at Walmart. Historically, we've seen the best price on AirTag packs at Amazon; back in April they dropped down to its lowest price of $74.99. However, ahead of Prime Day, we're not mad about this deal at Walmart, which saves you $19.01.
UPDATE: Jul. 12, 2024, 10:20 a.m. EDT On July 9, we saw all AirPods drop to their lowest prices ever. While the deals didn't last long, you can still find deals on AirPods ahead of Prime Day.

With Prime Day 2024 coming July 16 and 17, 4th of July sales, and Target Circle Week all in the ether, it's no sleep, all deals. The biggest brands are on sale, including Apple and their ultra-popular AirPods.
And these deals have taken us on a rollercoaster, going from lukewarm to piping hot and back down again. On July 9, we saw every model of AirPods fall to its lowest price ever. Unfortunately, the deals didn't last long, a testament to the fact that if you see a good sale, act fast. You can still find savings on AirPods and while the deals aren't as good as we've seen them, anything is better than paying full price.

Compatible with any Bluetooth device, you can be listening to music in seconds without having to install a new app. Apple users just need to snap open the case and the AirPods will connect. Typically priced at $129, these AirPods are currently $79.99 — about $10 more than their lowest price ever. That's 38% off or $49.01 back in your pocket.

Best AirPods Max deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirPods Max $479.95 at AmazonAirPods Max, Apple's answer to over-the-ear headphones, may not be our top pick for sound quality, but they're certainly the most stylish. Similar to AirPods Pro, the AirPods Max give specialized settings with spatial audio and Dolby Atmos.
AirPods Max are currently $479.95, certainly not as impressive as the $399 price tag we saw earlier this week, but we're still happy to see them under $500. Buy them now for 13% savings of $69.05.

Is this tablet a couple of years old? Yes. Is that why it's getting this $200 markdown? Probably! We first saw the iPad Air drop to this price at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago, and though it's shot back up at the retailer, the Walmart Deals sale has brought it back down. An M1-powered tablet is hardly past its prime, still offering plenty of power for gaming and note-taking. While we do wish this iPad offered a little more storage space, at this sale price you're paying just under $70 more than you would for a discounted A14 Bionic chip-powered iPad with the same amount of storage.

Check out our full review of the Apple Watch Series 9.
What better way to enjoy the exceptional display brightness of the Series 9 than with the largest display you can possibly get? Mashable Senior Editor Stan Schroeder appreciated that this watch introduced Double Tap but wrote in his review that the 2000 nit max brightness and minimum of one nit make this watch incredibly functional to use in the middle of a sunny day, or in the darkness of your room in the early morning. Apple Watches haven't introduced a ton of exciting upgrades over the years, but we do like that with this sale price, you can grab the 45mm Series 9 for about $70 cheaper than you would the 41mm Series 9 at full price.

The best unlocked phone deal ahead of Prime Day Opens in a new window Credit: Google Our pick: Google Pixel 8a (128GB)✨🔥 $449.00 at AmazonJust released two months ago, the Google Pixel 8a is "a compelling option for anyone who’s overdue for an affordable Android upgrade" — especially when you see its price tag. Mashable's Alex Perry called it "the best deal in Android-land" at full price, and just 24 hours before Prime Day, it's even better with a $50 discount. Besides the $100 gift card preorder deal, this is the first discount we've seen on this budget-friendly phone. It's basically a lite version of the Pixel 8, sharing the same Tensor G3 chip, over 24-hour battery life, Magic Editor and Magic Take camera tools, storage options, 8GB RAM, and up to 120Hz refresh rate. Where it differs is its size (it's just 0.1 inches taller and wider with a slightly smaller display) audio (no spatial audio, one less microphone), and camera.

And with the big event finally here, thousands of Prime Day deals have officially gone live.
Though the flagship summer sale officially started in the wee hours of July 16, Amazon's been releasing early Prime Deal deals ever since it announced the event's dates in late June. (Much like Black Friday, Prime Day is less of a one-off and more like an ongoing season.)
This is where we’ll be keeping track of all the best deals we see during Prime Day 2024, so be sure to bookmark or check this page regularly if you don't want to comb through thousands of listings yourself. Here's the lowdown.
When is Amazon Prime Day?Prime Day 2024 will officially run from Tuesday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 17. The shopping event typically happens in mid-July, so this year is right on par with years past.
What to expect for Prime Day 2024Anyone who's shopped a Prime Day sale before already knows the drill: It will be two days of site-wide doorbusters, with Amazon's own devices and services getting the steepest price drops.
SEE ALSO: Prime Day 2024: When it's happening and everything else we know so farIn a repeat from Prime Day 2023, Amazon has also revived its invite-only deals program, giving select shoppers a chance to grab extra-exclusive doorbusters that are likely to sell out. Prime members can visit these products' listings to request an invitation; if chosen, you'll receive an email with a unique link to buy the item at some point during the sale. (Amazon doesn't specify how it picks these lucky eligible shoppers; all we know is that they're exclusive to Prime members.) Check out Mashable's invite-only deals guide if you're interested in participating.
The best early Prime Day 2024 dealsNow that we've covered the basics, let's get to the deals. As mentioned up top, Amazon will likely reserve some of its biggest Prime Day price drops for the sale's official 48-hour window. However, it's releasing a bunch of offers ahead of time for those who are eager to shop already.
While many of these prices are record-lows that won't dip any further than they already have, some will inevitably get cheaper once Prime Day begins. It's annoying, but it's not the end of the world: While Amazon doesn't do price adjustments, most items delivered to a U.S. address are covered by its free 30-day return policy. (Gift cards and downloadable software are some exceptions.) You can always send something back and re-buy it at a better price.
Read on for our ongoing list of the best Prime Day deals that are up for grabs ahead of time, and head over to our sister site, PCMag, for additional Prime Day coverage. Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. Amazon's exclusive invite-only deals are marked with a 📨.

Amazon hasn't been making TVs for as long as some other manufacturers, but in a few short years, it's proven it can make some of the best budget and mid-range TVs in the world. The 4K Omni Series is firmly in the mid-range, but ahead of Prime Day, it gets a price drop that puts it in budget pricing territory. With Amazon's Fire TV OS, it's smarter than most similarly priced TVs, with excellent Alexa integration and voice control. For gaming, this TV comes with three HDMI ports (including an HDMI eARC).

Opens in a new window Credit: Samsung Our pick: Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (Bluetooth, 40mm) $209.99 at Amazon"Launched last summer, Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 was dubbed the 'king of the Android smartwatch mountain' by Mashable tech reporter Alex Perry.
The 40mm version with Bluetooth dropped down to a record-low $196.95 at Amazon last week, but already jumped up to $209.99. That's still an awesome deal with $90 off the MSRP, but we're really keeping an eye on it as Prime Day gets closer. "Sound the alarms! The very best Roomba is on sale at its very best price — ever. Its typical price of $1,399 is a whole lot of money to shell out on a vacuum, even if it does a spectacular job of keeping your floors clean. However, this early Prime Day deal gets you 43% savings for a whopping $600 off. That means this combo robot vacuum and mop has officially hit its lowest price ever.
$799 is still a lot of money to spend, but having tested the j9+, we're confident it's worth every penny. Not only will it effortlessly sweep your floors, but it mops them too, using its SmartScrub technique, for some added elbow grease. The self-emptying and charging dock makes this vacuum virtually hands-free as an added water tank refills the smaller tank on the vac." — Leah Stodart, Senior Shopping Reporter

The 42% price slash on this Chefman air fryer looks even better when you pit this fryer directly against competition like the same-size Instant Vortex. The Chefman model splits its 6-quart capacity into dual baskets that can cook two independent foods simultaneously at different temperatures up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, complete with clear windows to keep an eye on golden brownness. The 6-quart Vortex has just a single basket with no window, maxes out at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and actually costs $10 more, even on sale. — Leah Stodart, senior shopping editor

UPDATE: Jul. 16, 2024, 3:00 a.m. EDT This story has been updated with more information about Amazon Prime Day and a look at some of the best deals from the sale.
Amazon Prime Day is turning 10 this year, and the members-only sale is poised to be a huge draw for sticker shock-weary shoppers on the hunt for summer deals. (Granted, not every deal is worth it.)
Here's what you need to know about Prime Day 2024.
What is Prime Day?Prime Day is an annual sitewide sale open to paid and trial members of Amazon's Prime subscription service. First held in 2015 in honor of Amazon's 20th anniversary (with mixed success), it was originally plugged as a "one-day-only event filled with more deals than Black Friday." In the years since, it's morphed into a 48-hour affair that's preceded by weeks of preview offers. Prime Day is a misnomer at this point.
SEE ALSO: Prime Day 2024 is almost here: 150+ of the best early deals you can shop right nowFor the past two years, Amazon has hosted another major two-day sale for Prime members in October, teeing up its Black Friday festivities. (The 2022 version was called "Prime Early Access Sale," and it was renamed to "Prime Big Deal Days" in 2023.) However, the summer iteration of Prime Day has remained Amazon's flagship sale.
When is Prime Day 2024?Prime Day will be live from Tuesday, July 16 at 3:01 a.m ET through Wednesday, July 17 in 2024. This lines up with Amazon's historical preference for early-week slots in mid-July. (For reference, Prime Day 2022 was live from Tuesday, July 12, through Wednesday, July 13, and Prime Day 2023 ran from Tuesday, June 11, through Wednesday, July 12.)
What are the best early Prime Day deals?Amazon started rolling out official "Early Prime Day Deals" the day it announced the sale's dates in 2024, and there are thousands of deals up for grabs before the sale even starts.
The best early Prime Day deals at a glance: Best laptop deal Apple MacBook Air, 13-inch (M2) $799 at Amazon (save $200) Get Deal Best earbuds deal Amazon Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation $34.99 at Amazon (save $85 with Prime) Get Deal Best smart speaker deal Amazon Echo Spot $44.99 at Amazon (save $35 with Prime) Get Deal Best smartwatch deal Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS, 41mm) $299 at Amazon (save $300) Get Deal Best robot vacuum deal Eufy X90 Pro $449.99 at Amazon (save $450 with code X9PROEUFY) Get Deal Best kitchen deal Chefman TurboFry Touch Air Fryer $69.99 at Amazon (save $50) Get DealIn doling out many of its steepest price drops ahead of Prime Day, Amazon is keeping things in the family. A slew of Echo devices from Amazon's in-house brand of smart home gadgets are sitting at all-time low prices for Team Prime, including the all-new Echo Spot (44% off), the Echo Show 8 (43% off), the Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation (71% off), and the Echo Frames (37% off, plus a free Echo Pop). Prime members can also snag five free months of Amazon Music Unlimited, three free months of Audible Premium Plus, and three free months of Kindle Unlimited if they haven't subscribed before. Meanwhile, Prime Video rentals and purchases are up to 50% off.
Outside of the Amazon ecosystem, we're seeing some new all-time lows on big-ticket tech, including Apple devices, robot vacuums, and kitchen appliances. Highlights include an $800 M2 MacBook Air (20% off), a $300 Apple Watch Series 9 (25% off), a $450 Eufy X90 Pro (50% off with code X9PROEUFY), and a six-quart Chefman dual-basket air fryer for $70 (42% off). None of them have been labeled by Amazon as official early Prime Day deals, so anyone can take advantage of them — even non-members.
SEE ALSO: Seven invite-only deals are live ahead of Prime Day 2024The Mashable shopping team is keeping a close watch on the sale, so if you don't want to comb through every listing yourself, bookmark our guide to the very best early Prime Day deals.
What to expect during Prime DayWe're expecting Amazon to feature worthwhile deals on headphones, 4K TVs, laptops, tablets, unlocked phones, outdoor gear, and its own Fire devices (including TVs, tablets, and media players). Many items will hit their cheapest prices of the year outside of Black Friday.
Amazon will also grant access to a selection of invite-only deals during Prime Day. (Their exact timing is between Andy Jassy and God.) If you're interested in a cheap pair of Sony headphones, a $150 SodaStream bundle, a $103 Foreo Luna mini 3 bundle, or an original Peloton Bike for just over a grand, be sure to request your invitation ahead of time.
Can you shop on Prime Day without being a Prime member? You have to be a Prime member in order to shop Amazon's Prime Day deals. But if you don't want to commit to a monthly or annual paid subscription, you can still participate by scheduling a free 30-day trial of Prime around the sale. Just remember to cancel it as soon as Prime Day is over to avoid getting charged.
Who's competing with Prime Day?Other retailers traditionally hold competing sales during Prime Day, but this year, only Best Buy is going head-to-head with Amazon.
The electronics store's Black Friday in July sale runs from Monday, July 15 to Wednesday, July 17 (or a full 24 hours longer than Prime Day). It's not a subscribers-only affair, but paid (Plus and Total) members of the My Best Buy program will receive a $50 bonus reward when they spend $500 or more during the event.
Target and Walmart both ran their (unofficial) Prime Day counter-programming last week. However, it's still worth cross-checking Amazon's sale prices with their listings, just in case they randomly decide to match or one-up their prices.

As of today, July 15, Apple AirPods Max headphones are 22% off, taking the price down from $550 to $429.95. (That's $120.05 back in your wallet.) While we did just see the headphones drop down to their lowest price ever last week at $399, today's deal is still the second lowest price on record. Notably, it beats Best Buy's current deal price of $449.
While the aesthetic, pricey headphones have become something of a status symbol, they deliver top-notch sound to match. The noise-canceling headphones got a 4.25 Mashable Score from Mashable's Brenda Stolyar. In her review, she broke the score down further, giving the headphones a 4.5 for performance, writing that "both music and podcasts sound a lot fuller and richer than they do with the earbuds."

What is Amazon Prime Day? Is it different in Australia?Prime Day is an annual online sales event, like Black Friday or Click Frenzy, but exclusive to Amazon Prime customers. It started as a one-day event in the US in 2015, but has since expanded to a five-day event that takes place across the globe, including Australia.
The first Prime Day Down Under happened in 2018, and has grown every year since. Australia is unique in that it gets one of the longest Prime "Days" in the world – this year's event goes for a whopping five days, and because of our time zone, for us it’s 5 and a half. This is because Australian users get access to deals on both Amazon.com.au and the Amazon Global Store until the conclusion of the event in the US.
Additionally, the Shop Local Businesses store highlights a number of small Australian businesses that are also partaking in the Prime Day fun.
What will be on sale this Prime Day?While it can be difficult to predict specific products that go on sale, Amazon has promised over 100,000 deals in Australia from big brands, small local brands, and everything in-between. The brands that Amazon has confirmed will be a part of Prime Day include Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Bose, and more – a pretty hefty list!
Expect deals across all categories, including tech, such as TVs, Smart Home, Headphones, Gaming, as well as homeware, sports, fashion, beauty and more.
How to find the best deals during Prime Day in AustraliaAmazon is often the cheapest place to find a particular product in Australia, but the really good deals can sometimes be a bit elusive. Of course, our list above features some of the very best tech deals available during Prime Day. However, you can also properly prepare for the event to make sure you truly get the most out of it.
Before Prime Day kicks off, you should put together a shopping list of items that you are after, then 'wishlist' those products on Amazon and set deal alerts on the Amazon app. This will ensure you don't miss top deals on products that you especially want.
Ensure you are subscribed to Amazon Prime, or else you won't be able to secure the products for the Prime Day deal price. A subscription costs A$6.99 per month, but there is a 30-day free trial available if you are just looking to take part in Prime Day and nothing else.
It is also worth spending a bit of time on Amazon and familiarising yourself with its interface and how it works. This can save you time and hassle when the deals start dropping (many of which are only available for a limited time).
How to shop on Amazon Prime DayOf course, we'll be keeping track of all the best Prime Day deals we spot in the lists above. But if you are keen to trawl through some deals yourself, here's how to best shop during the event.
Amazon app: If you'll be out and about on Prime Day, download Amazon's mobile app, log in, and you'll be ready to shop wherever you are.
Amazon Wishlist: Add items to your wishlist in the product interface to get alerted if it goes on sale.
Ask Alexa: Why move at all? The main idea behind Amazon's Echo devices is to sell you stuff, so Alexa is more than willing to help you add things to your cart.
Amazon Global Store: Check out the best deals from the US and across the world on the Amazon Global Store.
Support Local: Amazon's Shop Local Business initiative highlights deals curated from small Aussie businesses across Amazon.
2024 has already been an amazing year for video games. We would maybe even say too good, and by that we mean there's simply too much to play, and our backlogs are looking downright scary (and expensive). Luckily, Prime Day is upon us, which is always a perfect time to start picking up all the new releases you missed out on at a much lower price. You'll still have to find the time to play them, though.
SEE ALSO: It's official: Best Buy's Black Friday in July sale is here and coming for Prime DayDodge the FOMO and start stocking up on games, consoles, accessories, and more ahead of Prime Day. Below, we've already started gathering up the best deals we could find, so take a look and be sure to stay tuned as we update our list throughout Amazon's multi-day shopping event.
