Entering day 2 of Prime Day, we're checking in on the iPad deals. The base Apple iPad is still sitting at $299, $25 away from its previous low of $274, but that's not our favorite deal. Another iPad just dropped to a new all-time low, and we're all in.

Prime Day 2026 is here — one of the best times to get a deal on a MacBook. I've covered Amazon's flagship summer sale for seven years straight now, and I always see Apple laptops get hefty discounts as part of the festivities. This year is par for the course, with savings of up to $250 across the MacBook Air and Pro lineups.

Amazon's Prime Day MacBook deals are especially welcome right now because Apple is on the verge of sweeping price hikes. (Blame the global RAM shortage.) Going forward, I think it'll be rarer to find MacBooks at prices like we're seeing this week.

That said, most configurations are still a ways away from their lowest prices on record. For instance, the M5 MacBook Airs are $150 off right now, but they were $200 off last month around Memorial Day. Amazon has sweetened its MacBook deals midway through previous sales, so consider waiting to make your purchase until later this week in case prices dip further. (Already, one kitted-out MacBook Pro has gotten $50 cheaper since Prime Day 2026 started.)

I'd also check out competing retailers' anti-Prime Day sales — namely, Best Buy's Tech Fest. It features lots of deals on older refurbished MacBooks that you won't find elsewhere.

The new M5 MacBook Air is a class-leading ultraportable with a zippy processor, two full workdays' worth of battery life, and a premium, polished design. (Haptic touchpad? Check. Crisp Liquid Retina display? Check. Speakers that sound better than anything you'll find on the average Windows laptop? Checkity-check.) The 13-inch base configuration is on sale for $949 on Amazon this Prime Day, which is 14% off its regular $1,099 sticker price.

You'll find the same deal at Best Buy this week, too. Both retailers' discounts apply to all four colors: starlight, silver, midnight, and sky blue.

It also has built-in fans, unlike the MacBook Air, so you're less likely to experience thermal throttling when you run demanding software on it. Amazon has the base model listed for $1,549 this Prime Day (typically $1,699) — a 9% savings. Best Buy is also price-matching Amazon here.

The MacBook Neo is Apple's colorful new budget laptop. It starts at $599 with 256GB of storage. For $699, you can double its storage capacity and add Touch ID.

While Amazon hasn't been totally resistant to putting the Neo on sale — it's been $9 off there for several weeks now — it doesn't get the same big price cuts as Apple's other laptops. This is probably because it's already a bargain at full price. For that reason, I wouldn't count on it getting a big discount this Prime Day (but I'm happy to be proven wrong).

As things stand, the best MacBook Neo deal right now is Apple's education pricing for college students, their parents, and teachers. Eligible buyers pay just $499 for the base model and $599 for the Touch ID model (a $100 savings either way). If you don't qualify for that offer, Amazon's $9 discount is waiting.

Need a new pair of AirPods? You can always find Apple's earbuds and headphones on sale for cheaper than usual during Amazon's Prime Day event — not just on Amazon, but at competing retailers, too.

Prime Day 2026 is live now through June 26, and so far, the top AirPods deal involves the over-ear AirPods Max 2. They're currently marked down to a record-low price of $399 on Amazon, or a whopping $150 off. (They only just came out in April, mind you.) Amazon's inventory is starting to dwindle as we approach the midway point of Prime Day, but Walmart still has a few colorways in stock at the same price; it's running a sale of its own this week.

Meanwhile, the entry-level AirPods 4 and noise-cancelling AirPods Pro 3 are both on sale for up to $70 off this Prime Day. Neither model is matching its biggest discount on record, but given Apple's plans for price hikes in the near future, these are probably going to be their best deals for a while.

The vanilla AirPods 4 are our No. 1 Apple earbuds for budget buyers. In our testing, they sounded fantastic, fit comfortably, and worked seamlessly with other Apple devices. We saw them drop all the way down to $69 last Black Friday, but $99 is their best price so far in 2026. Save $30 at Amazon and Walmart. (PSA: Walmart also has pre-owned AirPods 4 on sale for just $65.)

The AirPods 4 are also available with ANC. That pair is on sale for $148.99 (normally $179) at Amazon, Walmart, and Costco. For reference, their record-low price is $99.

The AirPods Pro 3 are our favorite AirPods across all price points, offering great ANC, an eight-hour battery life, plus extra fixings like a built-in heart rate monitor. They were only $169 on Amazon last week, but at the time of writing, they were sitting at $179 there. Walmart was price-matching them.

Apple's newly updated headphones have better ANC than the original AirPods Max from 2021. They run on the same H2 chip as the AirPods Pro 3, so they support the same software features (such as Live Translation and Conversation Awareness). In one of the best and most unexpected Prime Day deals thus far, they're on sale for just $399 this week — a new all-time low. Amazon had them in stock at that price in midnight at the time of writing. They're price-matched at Walmart in blue, purple, and starlight.

Amazon Prime Day is live now through June 26, and this year's sale is an especially important one for Apple users: Apple products are about to get price hikes because of the global RAM shortage. With that in mind, the Mashable Shopping team is monitoring the best Prime Day Apple deals extra-closely to flag any worthwhile discounts on Apple Watches, AirPods, iPads, and MacBooks.

So far, there are several notable Apple deals. The top offers from the first 12 hours of Prime Day include some record-low prices on the AirPods Max 2, the Apple Watch Series 11, and the M4 iPad Air. (Pro tip: Other past-gen models that are still in stock are also getting deep discounts.) But deals are moving fast, we already saw the M3 Macbook Air sell out.

Most other Apple products are still anywhere from $9 to $100 away from their all-time lows. We're still holding out hope for further price drops on AirPods and the latest M5 MacBook laptops. So, if you're unbothered by the possibility of these products selling out, it's worth waiting a few more days to see if they get even cheaper. Amazon has been known to improve its Apple deals midway through Prime Day.

Over the next few days, we'll continue to update this page with the best Prime Day Apple deals multiple times a day. For what it's worth, we're also checking prices at other major retailers like Best Buy and Walmart to make sure you're truly getting the lowest prices available on all things Apple. Amazon Prime Day 2026 runs until Friday, June 26 at 2:59 a.m. ET, and the Mashable shopping team will be providing round-the-clock coverage until the final minutes. Only the best deals — the ones I'd recommend to friends and family or shop myself — end up on this page.

I tested the M5 MacBook Air for Mashable when it was released earlier this year, and the longer I use it, the more I like it. If you've been waiting for Prime Day to buy this Apple laptop, then I have good news and bad news. The good news is it's on sale for $949. The bad news: Over Memorial Day Weekend, we saw prices drop to $899, but so far, Prime Day hasn't matched that offer.

So far this year, smart glasses have been one of my top testing priorities. I've tried some of the latest smart glasses from Xreal, Meta, TCL RayNeo, Viture Beast, and Even Realities. Some of my favorite augmented reality glasses are at never-before-seen prices. The TCL RayNeo Air 4 Pro AR glasses are like an OLED TV you can take with you anywhere, and it's by far the most affordable entry point if you're curious about this technology. However, you can also score the new Xreal 1S AR Glasses for $399.

My advice? If you want to use AR glasses for entertainment, go with the TCL RayNeo. If you want to be able to work and play, go with Xreal, as they're better for getting work done.

If you like playing daily word games like Wordle, then Hurdle is a great game to add to your routine.

There are five rounds to the game. The first round sees you trying to guess the word, with correct, misplaced, and incorrect letters shown in each guess. If you guess the correct answer, it'll take you to the next hurdle, providing the answer to the last hurdle as your first guess. This can give you several clues or none, depending on the words. For the final hurdle, every correct answer from previous hurdles is shown, with correct and misplaced letters clearly shown.

GTA VI preorders are live for PS5 and Xbox, starting at $80 with a $100 Ultimate Edition

It's last call for your "we got X before GTA VI" memes. As of midnight local time on June 25, Grand Theft Auto VI is finally available for preorder on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S ahead of its mid-November release. It comes in two editions starting at $79.99.

GTA VI's base game costs $79.99 and ships as "a single-player experience," according to a press release from developer Rockstar Games. In other words, it won't come with a new version of Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer side of GTA V.

There's also a $99.99 GTA VI Ultimate Edition featuring "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action," Rockstar said. It's previewing these extras on its website, which include:

  • A ’95 Grotti Cheetah vehicle

  • Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers

  • Personalized sidearm variants

  • Exclusive outfits and tattoos

  • Exclusive hair styles, makeup, and nail art

  • Jason's Safehouse vehicles

  • A Vapid Ganado modkit

  • Access to two exclusive vehicle mod shops and a clothing store

  • A Shitzu Squalo boat

  • A '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy vehicle with a garage

  • A raid mission for the PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store, a gang compound

All players who buy GTA VI before Nov. 20 will get a bonus Vintage Vice City Pack, which Rockstar describes as "a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest." There's a yellow ’55 Vapid Stanier vehicle with its own garage; special outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, the game's two protagonists; and a palm tree weapon pattern.

Those who preorder digital copies will also get a free month of GTA+, a membership service that unlocks GTA Online bonuses and a library of older Rockstar titles. It normally costs $7.99 per month.

Players can preload GTA VI onto their consoles starting Nov 12. Physical copies will come with a download code to facilitate this.

Rockstar revealed GTA VI's cover art in a 30-second video on its social channels last week. It released its second and most recent trailer for the upcoming blockbuster in May 2025, showcasing almost three minutes of gameplay and cutscene footage captured on a PS5.

When is 'GTA VI' out?

GTA VI is set for release on Thursday, Nov. 19. Don't forget to submit your PTO request.

The game was announced in December 2023 and was originally supposed to launch in late 2025, but Rockstar delayed it to May 2026 and then again to this fall. In announcing its second delay, Rockstar said: "These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve." Like the original Connections, the game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight, and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier — so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle.

If you just want to be told today's puzzle, you can jump to the end of this article for the latest Connections solution. But if you'd rather solve it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to assist you.

The NYT's latest daily word game has launched in association with The Athletic, the New York Times property that provides the publication's sports coverage. The sports Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words, and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer.

If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake — players get up to four mistakes before the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.

Welcome to your guide to Pips, the latest game in the New York Times catalogue.

Released in August 2025, Pips puts a unique spin on dominoes, creating a fun single-player experience that could become your next daily gaming habit.

Currently, if you're stuck, the game only offers to reveal the entire puzzle, forcing you to move on to the next difficulty level and start over. However, we have you covered! Below are piecemeal answers that will serve as hints so that you can find your way through each difficulty level.

How to play Pips

If you've ever played dominoes, you'll have a passing familiarity with how Pips is played. As we've shared in our previous hints stories for Pips, the tiles, like dominoes, are placed vertically or horizontally and connect with each other. The main difference between a traditional game of dominoes and Pips is the color-coded conditions you have to address. The touching tiles don't necessarily have to match.

The conditions you have to meet are specific to the color-coded spaces. For example, if it provides a single number, every side of a tile in that space must add up to the number provided. It is possible — and common — for only half a tile to be within a color-coded space.

Here are common examples you'll run into across the difficulty levels:

  • Number: All the pips in this space must add up to the number.

  • Equal: Every domino half in this space must be the same number of pips.

  • Not Equal: Every domino half in this space must have a completely different number of pips.

  • Less than: Every domino half in this space must add up to less than the number.

  • Greater than: Every domino half in this space must add up to more than the number.

If an area does not have any color coding, it means there are no conditions on the portions of dominoes within those spaces.

Less Than (5): Everything in this space must be less than 5. The answer is 3-4, placed vertically.

NYT Connections hints today: Clues, answers for June 25, 2026

The NYT Connections puzzle today is not too difficult if you're a science geek.

Connections is the one of the most popular New York Times word games that's captured the public's attention. The game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier—so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle.

If you just want to be told today's puzzle, you can jump to the end of this article for today's Connections solution. But if you'd rather solve it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to assist you.

The NYT's latest daily word game has become a social media hit. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu with helping to create the new word game and bringing it to the publications' Games section. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise of anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer.

If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake—players get up to four mistakes until the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.

Strands, the New York Times' elevated word-search game, requires the player to perform a twist on the classic word search. Words can be made from linked letters — up, down, left, right, or diagonal, but words can also change direction, resulting in quirky shapes and patterns. Every single letter in the grid will be part of an answer. There's always a theme linking every solution, along with the "spangram," a special, word or phrase that sums up that day's theme, and spans the entire grid horizontally or vertically.

Theres an official Toy Story 5 Lilypad tablet. It conflicts with the films message.

As a parent and journalist, I've played with countless toys, but few as strange as the Toy Story 5 Explore & Learn Lilypad.

The preschool-age tablet is based on the Toy Story 5 character of the same name, a flashy and mildly villainous tablet that sets the movie's plot into motion.

The real-life Lilypad, made by LeapFrog and retailing for $29.95, tries to draw on the friendship theme of Toy Story 5, but implements it in unusual ways. Parents considering Lilypad as a smart, fun, and guilt-free purchase should first consider its range of games and texting feature.

The Lilypad features a small backlit LCD screen and an A-to-Z keypad. Three basic skill-building games are supposed to help kids count to 100, identify letters, and problem solve an obstacle course.

Another feature invites kids to "jam along" to preset songs by pushing keyboard buttons, which emit sounds like a ribbit, squeak, twangy guitar, oinking, and toilet flushing.

If a child hasn't seen or doesn't remember the imaginary weddings that take place in Toy Story 5, the inclusion of Mendelssohn's Wedding March as a song to bop along to may seem nonsensical. Parents can expect erratic sound effects played over a few musical selections.

Finally, the keyboard includes six emoji: heart, thumbs up, smiling face with sunglasses, laughing squinting face, rolling on the floor laughing, and crying face. These seem simple enough, but invite trouble when used to "text" (see below).

Does Lilypad reflect the movie character?

On one hand, I was relieved to discover that the Lilypad has little in common with the movie character.

Once young Bonnie gets her hands on a Lilypad, she becomes a tablet zombie, lit up for hours by the screen's glow. Things go from bad to worse when Bonnie, whose imaginative play puts off kids who've forsaken toys for devices, discovers she can socialize with mean girls from her dance class via Lilypad's "pond."

Lilypad, just as sentient as franchise star and cowgirl heroine Jessie, thinks she's doing Bonnie a favor by scheming to get her beloved toys relegated to the garage.

What can the Lilypad do?

The real-life Lilypad has no artificial intelligence or creepy autonomous powers. Thankfully, it lacks other features that made the movie character so problematic, like access to a toxic social media environment or peer-to-peer sharing.

The games encourage short bursts of play instead of endless engagement through gamification. LeapFrog deserves credit for this design feature. Yet with just a handful of games, the exploration is limited to a few repetitive activities.

How does the Lilypad's texting feature work?

The strangest design choice for the Lilypad, however, is the so-called texting feature.

Kids can push character icon buttons for Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the franchise's new addition, Smarty Pants, a low-tech device that's initially reviled by Jessie.

The Lilypad then says, "Let's see who's on the pond," a verbatim line from the Toy Story 5 tablet that precedes poor Bonnie's downward spiral as she rejects her toys for peer approval and gets bullied anyway. In a non-sequitur, the real-life Lilypad also says, "Let's stay connected!"

For a product based on a movie about the enduring importance of in-person connection and imaginative play, this script feels like an inexplicable contradiction that only deepens with texting.

Once a child selects a character, they receive one of six or seven curated messages as a "text."

Jessie, for example, says, "Have you seen Woody?" The child can respond with an emoji or letter button. When I pushed smiling face with sunglasses, I received back, "Me too!" When I pushed the crying emoji, I got a heart emoji. Responding to a Buzz Lightyear text with the crying emoji returns a simple, "message secured." I hope no preschooler presses that emoji expecting a custom or sensitive reply.

The problem with Lilypad's texting

Regardless of what's selected, the Lilypad declares, "Voila, friend made!" It's the depressing toy equivalent of becoming someone's "friend" on Facebook.

When I asked LeapFrog about this message, a spokesperson for the company said it's meant to "celebrate the interaction and reinforce the idea of building connections through playful exchanges."

That left me wondering if I'd seen the same movie as LeapFrog's designers. The beginning of Lilypad's redemption arc — of course, she gets one — is realizing that she can't help Bonnie make friendships. Instead, she's a tool that can facilitate literal face time thanks to messaging capabilities.

So why does the Lilypad have a texting feature that doesn't align with the film's message?

Dr. Jenny Radesky, a developmental behavioral pediatrician at the University of Michigan School of Medicine who conducts research on family screen time, offered one compelling explanation.

"I wonder whether this was an underbaked product that was put together for merchandising purposes," she told me in an email.

Radesky, who previously consulted for the toy company Melissa & Doug, said she'd never seen texting with movie characters before and described it as "odd" and somewhat reminiscent of the AI role-playing product Character.AI.

That platform invites users to chat with fictional characters. Earlier this year, the company settled lawsuits against it filed by parents of teens who died by suicide following lengthy engagement with chatbots that involved alleged sexual abuse.

Though Lilypad has no AI capabilities, Radesky said texting feels more personal and that she wouldn't be OK with it for her own children.

Who is the Lilypad tablet for?

As I tested the Lilypad, I kept asking myself: Who is this really for?

After all the stories I've written about the perils of unmitigated screen time, I could argue that offering fewer games is a good thing for kids. But if a toymaker is using tech to facilitate play and learning, one would hope for a product that inspires creativity rather than checks boxes.

In Radesky's opinion, closed-loop education games may help with rote learning, but children can also do them on "autopilot." She did appreciate that the device presents much less risk than a hand-me-down smart tablet.

Her advice? Purchase a magnetic drawing board as a portable toy to keep kids occupied. In general, Radesky also said kids will learn more useful human skills if they're not occupied with a mobile device or video game during "humdrum daily moments."

Ben Miller, executive learning designer at LeapFrog, said in a statement to Mashable that the Lilypad's simple guided activities are intentionally approachable for younger children. He also noted that the Lilypad may help parents contend with technology's role in modern childhood, alongside reading, creative play, physical activity, and family time.

"Parents today are looking to create a healthy balance, rather than elimination, when it comes to technology and screen time," he said.

Looking for lifetime customers

I appreciate this sentiment. Ultimately, though, I concluded that Lilypad feels like a product designed for Disney, Pixar, and LeapFrog, to capitalize on the latest Toy Story zeitgeist without giving users something truly meaningful in exchange.

The Lilypad helps Disney and Pixar boost brand awareness of the Toy Story franchise amongst the youngest kids. Meanwhile, LeapFrog broadens or strengthens its market share in the same demographic, perhaps positioning preschoolers to graduate to the company's big-kid LeapPad Academy educational tablet.

As a parent who implements stricter-than-most screen time rules, I'm sympathetic to an effort that tries to mindfully integrate technology into a children's toy.

Yet the Lilypad does something different. Like Toy Story 5, it wants us to believe that our relationship to our devices is purely personal when, in fact, design choices and market forces conspire to turn us into lifelong customers under the feel-good guise of learning, friendship, and connection.
