Trump take egg. These three little words are as powerful as any other.
There's a good chance you've seen the words "Trump take egg" all over social media lately, which raises the question: What the hell do they mean? In short, it's a meme. But it's way more complex than that. We'll do our best to explain.
First, eggIn case you didn't notice, a carton of eggs costs roughly the equivalent of a down payment on a home right now. The latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics pegged the average price in January at nearly $5 per dozen, the highest mark in history. The price has only skyrocketed since. My local supermarket in New York City — I know, I know, I KNOW — has them priced at about a dollar per egg.
Obviously, folks are upset at paying historically high prices for a typically cheap, everyday item.
At least egg prices are down bsky.app/profile/dean...

So how did we get to the phrase "Trump take egg?" Like most memes — as well as onions and ogres — there are layers involved. First and foremost, "Trump take egg" is funny to write, say, and read. It just is. The internet loves absurdism and the phrase is certainly absurd — it's purposefully awkward to read and nonsensical.
Second, it's an obvious jab at the Trump voters who cast their votes in the name of inflation. Sure, egg prices are high because of the bird flu and price gouging, but it's an obvious way for liberals to prod folks who voted because they were upset about inflation and blindly believed Trump would fix it.
Phrasing this commentary as "Trump take egg" is, in a way, mocking that simplistic way of voting. Oh, you voted for "Trump fix egg?" Well, guess what? "Trump take egg."

Not for nothing, "Trump take egg" is effective branding. It's nonsensical and funny, but it is memorable. And it does place Trump's name directly next to a big issue hitting voters in the grocery store aisle.
Fundamentally, it seems more like a commentary on the absurdity of thinking egg prices were ever a serious concern for presidential politics. Egg prices never should have been a central pillar for the 2024 election. Yet it felt like they were. And now egg prices are at an all-time high.
And that's amid, well, so much else. Trump and his righthand billionaire Elon Musk have spent their first weeks in office attacking diversity measures, mass firing federal workers, and working to wrest control of nearly every part of the government.
It's hard to keep track of all the ways Trump and Musk are reshaping America in their shared image. But it's comprehensive and, for lots of people, frightening. So left-leaning folks posting Trump take egg are effectively pointing to the absurdity of worrying about egg prices in relation to — gestures at the world — everything else. And again, let me reiterate, Trump take egg is just a funny phrase.

As with anything, memes evolve. In a bit of boomer humor, a new play on the meme is Trump take nest egg as the stock market has plummeted amid the president's tariffs.

— Benjamin Dreyer (@bcdreyer.social) March 3, 2025 at 3:20 PMA meme can be many things, and those things shift. Trump take egg started as a tongue-in-cheek meme about inflation. It developed into something more like, well, everything the Trump administration has done. Now, it's a boomer pun.
Mostly, it's just silly. And, one last time, it is really fun to say. Everybody now: Trump take egg.

TL;DR: While codes last, you can save $189 on Microsoft Office Home and Business for Mac 2019 (the PC version is also available).
You could may monthly for Microsoft 365 access, or you could pay $39.99 once and get lifetime device access to Microsoft Office Home & Business.
But which should you choose?
Let's put the two ways of accessing your favorite Microsoft apps head to head.
Microsoft 365, the subscription-based version, charges users $10 monthly for cloud-based access to the latest version of the apps. On the other hand, a Microsoft Office license asks for a one-time $39.99 payment for lifelong access to the apps on your device. This is our discounted offering since this purchase normally costs $229.
How does Microsoft 365 get away with charging such hefty subscription fees? Well, users get a few more apps than the Office lifetime license (like the Clipchamp video editor), built-in cloud storage, and mobile app access. The 2019 version of Office also looks a little different from the newest version, though you still get the most important Microsoft tools.
What you need to ask yourself is this: Do I really want another monthly subscription fee? We find that most people simply want affordable, lifelong access to their favorite Office apps — and that’s what the lifetime device license gets you.
Instead of paying each month, you’ll pay once, receive an email with your download link and activation code, and install the software on your Mac (PC codes are also available). Then, you’ll have access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Teams Classic for the life of your computer.
While some users may still opt for Microsoft 365 for the cloud-based apps and mobile access, those looking for the most affordable version can save at the Mashable Shop.

Movie lovers flock to Austin Texas for SXSW to see the world premieres of star-studded films, as well as take the opportunity to discover hidden gems. With so many options to choose from, making your SXSW plan can be stressful. And even if you're not going to be on the ground, you might want your ear to the ground to know what's a must-see and what's a miss. Fear not, Mashable has got you covered. We'll be running reviews out of the SXSW Film Festival, praising the best and jeering the worst. But Opening Night, here are the titles that most intrigue.
Here are the most-anticipated movies and shows premiering at the SXSW Film Festival in 2025.
Another Simple FavorOpening SXSW 2025's film festival is this cheeky sequel to the 2018 thriller A Simple Favor. Set years after vlogging single mom Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) bested her devious bestie Emily (Blake Lively) in a game of lies, insurance fraud, and homicide, they're reunited. Somehow — despite several murder convictions — Emily is out of prison and looking to wed in a flashy destination wedding. And the perfect person to be her maid of honor is none other than the friend who turned their toxic relationship into a best-selling true crime novel.
Screenwriter Jessica Sharzer and director Paul Feig also return, bringing with them some memorable supporting players. But the most enchanting lure for Another Simple Favor is the intensity Lively brought to the mesmerizing, mercurial, and ever elegant Emily. Or Claudia. Or Hope. Or whatever she's going by now.
Starring: Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Elena Sofia Ricci, Alex Newell, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney
How to watch: Another Simple Favor will come to Prime Video on May 1.
DropWhen it comes to dating, in the immortal words of contemporary poet Olivia Rodrigo, "It's brutal out there."
No one understands that better than Violet (White Lotus' Meghann Fahy), a widowed mom who's going on her first date in ages. But far beyond getting the ick, she's getting bizarre and threatening memes from an unknown number. Coming from Christopher Landon, the writer of such high concept comedy-horror gems as Happy Death Day, Freaky, and Heart Eyes, this Drop promises to be a thrilling night out.
Starring: Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffery Self, Ed Weeks, and Travis Nelson
How to watch: Drop opens in theaters April 11.
Death of a UnicornLet's be honest, this title alone should be enough to pique your curiosity. From A24 comes the feature directorial debut of helmer/writer Alex Scharfman. And as you might predict, Death of a Unicorn centers around the demise of the eponymous mythical beast.
Look, daughter duo Elliot and Ridley (Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega) didn't mean to kill the unicorn. It was a accident. But when the corpse of a unicorn inspires an obscenely affluent family of pharmaceutical execs to experiment, things go from bad to fantastically worse. Which seems good news for moviegoers who love a wild ride.
Starring: Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant
How to watch: Death of a Unicorn opens in theaters March 28.
The Accountant 2Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal re-team in an enticing sequel to director Gavin O'Connor's 2016's The Accountant. The first film unfurled the twisted tale of two brothers, raised by a hard-headed military dad, who felt violence could be an answer to just about anything. But while one son grew up a mercenary with no qualms about murder, the other became an accountant for some of the most dangerous wealthy folk on the planet.
Now, when former treasury chief (and friend) Ray King (J.K. Simmons) dies, it's up to Christian Wolff (Affleck) and his hot-tempered brother Braxton (Bernthal) to crack the case... and maybe some skulls along the way. A thriller that promises action and character-driven drama starring two of Hollywood's most strong-jawed leading men? That math adds up to LFG.
Starring: Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons
How to watch: The Accountant 2 opens in theaters nationwide on April 25.
HollandSleep is for anyone but AMC movie queen Nicole Kidman. In 2024, the heralded leading lady appeared in the Lulu Wang mini-series Expats, the May-December rom-com A Family Affair, the mystery series The Perfect Couple, the espionage drama series Lioness, and the steamy erotic thriller Babygirl. Now, she's kicking off 2025 with a curious collaboration with Mimi Cave, director of the cannibal thriller Fresh.
Holland seems to be set in a picture-perfect town in Michigan, where cheerful children, happy housewives, and Dutch dancing are thriving. But something is off for Nancy (Kidman). She's convinced she's onto a mystery, but what could it mean — for her and her husband and son? We can't wait to find out.
Starring: Nicole Kidman, Matthew Macfadyen, Jude Hill, and Gael García Bernal
How to watch: Holland debuts on Prime Video on March 27.
O'DessaThis rock opera from writer/director Geremy Jasper (Patti Cake$) is coming to Hulu. But I'd recommend you take advantage of the chance to see it in theaters at SXSW, where the soundtrack can envelope you, rattling your bones and soul.
Stranger Things' Sadie Sink stars as O’Dessa, a rambler who has a song in her heart and a destiny in her blood. In a dystopian world, a narcissistic dictator numbs the population into poverty through an endless barrage of TV broadcasts. It's up to O'Dessa to bring her music to the masses and open their hearts and minds. Along the way, Jasper drenches his audience in an enchanting musical soundscape with visuals gorgeous and strange, making for a movie musical that feels familiar yet thrillingly fresh.
Starring: Sadie Sink, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Murray Bartlett, Regina Hall, and Pokey LaFarge
How to watch: O'Dessa premieres on Hulu on March 13.
The StudioSeth Rogen and a jaw-dropping cast of big stars give Hollywood the takedown it so richly deserves with The Studio.
The battle of art versus commerce takes center stage as Rogen plays a newly minted studio exec, who has to make an endless series of wild decisions. If you ever wonder how the blockbuster sausage gets made, the first episode of this stellar comedy series gives you a juicy and revolting taste.
The writing on this satirical series is so sharp that Rogen practically bleeds as he plays the fool across an array of comical conflicts. And he's bolstered by a supporting cast that is blisteringly funny, spitting barbs, allusions, and one-liners with a dizzying intensity. SXSW gives audiences a little taste of this new sitcom. To see the rest, you'll need to subscribe to Apple TV+.
Starring: Seth Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Bryan Cranston
How to watch: The Studio premieres on Apple TV+ on March 26.
The Ballad of Wallis IslandFollowing its Sundance debut, this winsome dramedy is perfectly pitched for SXSW, dealing with music, fandom, and the power of love.
Imagine if you will, you won a lottery prize so immense you could not only afford a home on a remote island far from the worries of the world, but you could also afford to essentially bribe your favorite band to reunite for a private concert. This is what eccentric Charles Heath (Tim Key) does, just to hear McGwyer Mortimer play live one more time. However, the folk rock band who peaked in the 2010s didn't just disband. The angsty Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) and the cheery Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan) broke up romantically as well. So when she turns up with her new husband (Akemnji Ndifornyen) the stage is set for romantic rivalry, resurrected resentments, and some really great indie rock.
Starring: Tom Basden, Tim Key, Sian Clifford, Akemnji Ndifornyen, and Carey Mulligan

Happy FaceTrue crime fans, brace yourselves for your next TV obsession. Robert King and Michelle King, the dynamic partnership that brought us the rousing drama and wit of The Good Fight and The Good Wife, are now delivering an intriguing new series inspired by Melissa G. Moore's autobiographical podcast and book about being the daughter of the notorious Happy Face Killer.
Annaleigh Ashford stars as Melissa Reed. A wife, mother, and professional make-up artist, Melissa's plate is pretty full even before her convicted killer father (played by a snarling Dennis Quaid) barges into what peace she has built. He's been locked up for years after being convicted of eight murders. But he claims there's a ninth victim, and he'll only tell the details to his darling "Missy." To reconnect with her dad will not only open up old wounds, but also risk the anonymity on which she's raised her own family. But if a confession could stop the wrong man from unjust punishment, would it be worth it?
Starring: Annaleigh Ashford, Dennis Quaid, Tamera Tomakili, and James Wolk
How to watch: Happy Face begins streaming on Paramount+ March 20.
American Sweatshop Lili Reinhart stars as Daisy in "American Sweatshop." Credit: Guido MarxLili Reinhart headlines this sly thriller about a young woman who has a total nightmare job: She's a moderator for videos on the internet. Every day, she and a small army of her coworkers come to a dismal office, where they must watch acts of violence, depravity, and violation to determine whether these videos break the company's user agreement. Smartly, director Uta Briesewitz doesn't make a spectacle of the horrors that her characters witness, keeping most of them off-camera. Instead, she turns the knife by focusing on the psychological agony of those forced to watch for a meager salary.
Tormented by one video in particular, Daisy (Reinhart) becomes obsessed with tracking down its maker. Through her journey, this savage film not only vivisects the dark voyeurism that exists on the internet and the trauma it inflicts. It also mocks the callous nature of corporate America, which will allow anything it can in the name of profit. Achingly timely and unnervingly thrilling, American Sweatshop is must-see for the chronically online.
Starring: Lili Reinhart, Daniela Melchior, Jeremy Ang Jones, Josh Whitehouse, Tim Plester, Christiane Paul, and Joel Fry

I Really Love My Husband Madison Lanesey and Travis Quentin Young in "I Really Love My Husband." Credit: Still by Ryan Thomas. Color by Dan Edwards. The feature debut of writer/director G.G. Hawkins is a playful and enticing look at love and desire, with a sharp sense of humor.
The story of this sexy comedy begins on a honeymoon to tropical Panama. There, newlyweds Drew and Teresa (Travis Quentin Young and Madison Lanesey) are seeking pleasure and fun under the sun. But something is eating at Teresa, who seems irked by her husband's every move. That is, until they meet their enchanting rental host, the free-spirited Paz (Arta Gee). More than a sexy stranger, they seem a path to sexual exploration and personal liberation. While this concept of a straight-seeming couple dabbling in kink and queer hook-ups might seem predictable and problematic, Hawkins and her cast show a keen self-awareness in the film's final act. The result is a comedy that's funny, poignant, and thought-provoking.
Starring: Madison Lanesey, Travis Quentin Young, Arta Gee, Lisa Jacqueline Starrett, Elizabeth de Robbins, Sophia Amodio, Meggan Taylor, Mitch Bisshop, Amberlin Morse

The Secret of Me Credit: SXSWThe personal is political in the poignant and richly informative documentary The Secret of Me.
Directed by Grace Hughes-Hallett, this film begins with the story of an American girl who loves soccer and her parents. But as she grows older, family secrets are revealed that change how she sees herself, her family, and the world around her. A story of personal discovery becomes one of intersex activism, as The Secret of Me's hero comes to realize they're not alone. Tying this individual story to the history of a landmark psychology experiment and the disturbing impact it had on countless children, this doc will open eyes, and hopefully hearts.

The Threesome Zoey Deutch, Jonah Hauer-King, and Ruby Cruz get together in "The Threesome." Credit: Star Thrower EntertainmentWant a romantic comedy with a little bit of spice? Then you'll fall for director Chad Hartigan's surprisingly charming The Threesome.
What begins as the kind of story you might read in an AITA thread evolves into a sweet and silly story about three young lovers who face big decisions after a wild night together. Zoey Deutch stars as a charismatic but mercurial waitress who propose a threesome with an old friend (Jonah Hauer-King) who's long been crushing on her, and a new acquaintance (Ruby Cruz) with a dazzling energy. While you might suspect you know where this sexual encounter might lead, you're wrong. This is far from a Challengers-like tale of tension, lust, and resentment. Instead, it's a story about growing up, whether you're ready or not, and taking responsibility for your choices and the hearts you broke along the way. Tender and beguiling, The Threesome is solid fun.
Starring: Zoey Deutch, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruby Cruz, Jaboukie Young-White, Josh Segarra, Robert Longstreet, Arden Myrin, Kristin Slaysman, Allan McLeod, and Julia Sweeney
How to watch: Release TBD.
Dead Lover Grace Glowicki as Gravedigger in "Dead Lover." Credit: Rhayne VermetteIf you crave something determinedly offbeat, check out this Sundance pick, which has its Texas premiere at SXSW. Co-written, directed, and starring Grace Glowicki, Dead Lover is as far from a vanity project as a filmmaker might get. In this gnarly horror-comedy, she plays an unnamed gravedigger who smells so rank she repels everyone around her. However, when she finally meets a man who is all too happy to share her bed, he tragically dies, leaving only a dismembered finger behind. But that scrap of lover could be enough to Frankenstein her way to a reunion.
If that weren't wild enough, Glowicki and co-writer/co-star Ben Petrie weave in subplots of naughty nuns, judgmental biddies, a sneering parson, and a grief-stricken swashbuckler. And their cast of four will play all of the roles in black box setting, with obvious wigs, and clumsy costumes that relish in the DIY aesthetic. It's "Let's Put on a Show!" for the midnight movie crowd, making Dead Lover a really bonkers watch.
Starring: Grace Glowicki, Ben Petrie, Leah Doz, and Lowen Morrow

HULU BUNDLES: Hulu is offering a range of bundle deals so you can stream from its library without breaking the bank.
The best Hulu deals and bundles in March 2025: Best Bundle Deal Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle $16.99/month with ads, $29.99/month ad-free Get Deal Best Add-On Deal Disney Bundle Duo Basic Disney+ and Hulu with ads for $10.99 per month Get Deal Best Student Deal Hulu Student Deal Hulu (with ads) for $1.99 per month Get DealThere's a wide range of excellent shows and films to watch on Hulu. From Poor Things to the thrilling (and Golden Globe-winning) Shōgun, it's a library that's full of options to keep you entertained for hours. You can even catch Oscar Best Picture winner Anora on the service on March 17.
If any of these have caught your eye and have you itching to sign up for Hulu, we're here to help. Outside of the standard ad-supported and ad free plans, there are quite a few bundle deals available with Hulu that are worth exploring if you're looking to save some cash.
SEE ALSO: The best Presidents' Day streaming deals: Peacock, Starz, and moreWith streaming prices on the rise (Hulu even recently increased its prices just last year), there's no better time than now to find a way to save on streaming services like this one. Below you can find details on Hulu's best bundles at the moment — alongside information on both its ad-supported and ad free plan, if you just want the basics — offering you a way to save on the service without going overboard on spending.
You'll even get additional streaming services thrown in at a lower cost, and what's better than that?
Best Bundle Deal Opens in a new window Credit: Hulu Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle $16.99/month with ads, $29.99/month ad-free Get Deal Why we like itReleased last July, this is one of the best Hulu bundles available at the moment. Starting at $16.99 per month, this bundle grants you access to Hulu, Disney+, and Max's streaming services for a much lower price than what you'd pay for the three of them separately. It's an incredible deal to take advantage of, especially if you've already got Disney+ and Max subscriptions. There are two plans to choose from with this bundle, and they are:
Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle (with ads) — $16.99 per month (save 43%)
Disney+, Hulu, Max Bundle (no ads) — $29.99 per month (save 42%)
If you don't want to splash out on the full Hulu, Disney+, and Max bundle, the next best thing is the Duo Basic bundle. This comes with just Disney+ alongside Hulu, giving you access to each of their ad-supported streaming platforms for as low as $10.99 per month. If you're already subscribed to Disney+ or have been hoping to jump into its library, this is well worth investing in.
Disney Bundle Duo Basic — $10.99 per month
This isn't the only Disney+ plan available with Hulu, though. For those looking to jump into an ad-free tier for the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, there's the Duo Premium (no ads) plan that'll cost you $19.99 per month instead. And if you're a sports fan and want to throw in ESPN+, there are also Disney Bundle Trio Basic and Trio Premium plans, which run for $16.99 per month and $26.99 per month, respectively.
Disney Bundle Duo Premium — $19.99 per month
Disney Bundle Trio Basic — $16.99 per month
Disney Bundle Trio Premium — $26.99 per month
If you're a student enrolled at a university, you can score a Hulu (with ads) plan for even lower than the above bundles. Hulu's Student Deal gives eligible college students the ability to buy a Hulu (with ads) plan for just $1.99 per month. Hulu notes that the deal lasts "so long as student enrollment status remains verified," then it goes back up to the standard monthly price.
Hulu Student Deal — $1.99 per month
If you're just looking to jump straight into Hulu's library without any fancy bundles, there are a couple of subscription options to consider. The ad-supported tier comes in at $9.99 per month, but you'll get your first month free, which is a great way to test the waters and see if it's the right fit for you. If you want to go ad free, that'll cost you $18.99 per month. Unfortunately, this plan does not offer a free trial like its ad-supported sibling.
Hulu (with ads) — $9.99 per month (get first month free)
Hulu (no ads) — $18.99 per month
If you really want to go big on a streaming investment, there's the Hulu + Live TV plan. This costs a whopping $82.99 per month for its ad-supported plan, but comes with plenty to keep you busy. Hulu + Live TV (with ads) gets you access to 95+ channels, unlimited DVR, Disney+ (with ads), ESPN+ (with ads), and Hulu (with ads). If you want to go even bigger with the ad-free plan — which offers Hulu (No Ads), Disney+ (no ads), and ESPN+ (with ads) alongside Live TV — it'll cost you $95.99 per month. The ad-supported plan also offers a free trial, but for just three days instead.
Hulu + Live TV (with ads) — $82.99 per month (three day free trial)
Hulu + Live TV (no ads) — $95.99 per month

WHERE TO BUY: The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 launches on March 5 with a starting price of $549. It will be available at Amazon and Best Buy, though third-party models may cost more.
Opens in a new window Credit: Gigabyte / Nvidia NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 $549.99 at Best BuyNvidia GeForce RTX 5070 is here, and while it is not the most exciting upgrade, it is still the latest mid-range option in the 50-series lineup.
Performance is nearly identical to RTX 4070 Super, with only a slight lead in some games and even some losses in others. The only real improvement is the inclusion of DLSS 4, which allows Multi-Frame Generation to artificially boost frame rates. That comes with added latency, making it more useful for single-player games than competitive ones.

MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12G GAMING TRIO OC 12GB GDDR7 PCI Express Gen 5 Graphics Card — $649.99
At launch, RTX 5070 is priced at $549. That makes it $50 cheaper than the 4070 Super at launch, but that may not be enough to make up for the lack of a real generational jump. It is a reasonable choice for those who skipped the 40-series and are upgrading from something older. But it may be better to buy the 4070 Super if you can find stock.
For those who already have a RTX 4070 Super, I've noticed around a 15% bump in general performance from my MSI model by using a program called DLSS Swapper. This allows users to use DLSS 4 on 4000 series cards (usually locked to 3.5) and is managed by games that use the AI tech.
Here's a spec comparison for RTX 5070 to RTX 4070 Super:
CUDA Cores: 6,144 / 7,168
VRAM: 12GB GDDR7 / 12GB GDDR6X
Memory Bus:192-bit / 192-bit
Power Draw: 250W / 220W
DLSS Version: DLSS 4 / DLSS 3.5
For those set on getting RTX 5070, Amazon and Best Buy are the best places to look. Amazon will have a range of third-party models from brands like ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte. Prices may vary, especially if resellers get involved. Best Buy is the most reliable place to find Nvidia’s Founders Edition cards, which tend to sell out quickly. Both stores will have stock at launch, but availability may change within hours.
The card itself is built on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture and features 6,144 CUDA cores, 12GB of GDDR7 memory, and a 192-bit memory bus. The power draw is slightly higher than the previous generation, reaching 250W compared to the 220W of 4070 Super. That should not be an issue for most modern power supplies, but it is something to keep in mind for those with lower-wattage setups.
Buying a GPU at launch always comes with some risk. Prices may fluctuate, stock may disappear, and better deals may come up later. If RTX 5070 drops below $549, it becomes a more attractive option. If the 4070 Super stays in stock at a lower price, it may be worth choosing instead.
For those who do not want to wait, checking Amazon and Best Buy early on launch day is the best bet.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced that GPT-4.5 will "likely" begin rolling out to ChatGPT Plus subscribers "over a few days" rather than all at once. You'll just have to continue being patient.
"there is no perfect way to do this; we wanted to do it for everyone tomorrow, but it would have meant we had to launch with a very low rate limit," Altman posted to X on Tuesday. "we think people are gonna use this a lot and love it. so we think it's better to let people have real, long conversations with it, but that means we have to stagger people in rather than have everyone hit it hard a [sic] the same time."
Tweet may have been deletedAnnounced last Thursday, GPT-4.5 is the latest version of OpenAI's large language model (LLM), and will apparently be the last which doesn't use chain-of-thought prompting. Chain-of-thought models strive to simulate human reasoning by breaking down complex tasks into manageable, logical steps, which are followed to ultimately reach an answer.
Though GPT-4.5 isn't quite there yet, OpenAI asserts that early testing indicates that interaction with it "feels more natural."
"Its broader knowledge base, improved ability to follow user intent, and greater 'EQ' make it useful for tasks like improving writing, programming, and solving practical problems," OpenAI said last week. "We also expect it to hallucinate less."
SEE ALSO: OpenAI's GPT-4.5 is here. How to try it now.Even so, Altman has attempted to temper expectations, noting that GPT-4.5 "isn’t a reasoning model and won’t crush benchmarks."
The rolling, staggered release of GPT-4.5 doesn't come as a surprise. Altman previously stated that though OpenAI had initially wanted to launch the "giant, expensive model" to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers simultaneously, a lack of graphics processing units (GPUs) prevented this. As such, ChatGPT Pro subscribers got their hands on it first. A ChatGPT Pro subscription costs $200 per month, while a Plus subscription is $20 per month.
"we will add tens of thousands of GPUs next week and roll it out to the plus tier then," Altman wrote on Thursday. "(hundreds of thousands coming soon, and i'm pretty sure y'all will use every one we can rack up.)"
Remember the iconic 1994 action flick Speed, in which Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock were stuck on a bus that would explode if it slowed below 50 mph? Picture that, but instead of a bus it's a bullet train hurtling toward Tokyo, and instead of Keanu Reeves it's one very dedicated train conductor.
Netflix has released a teaser trailer for Bullet Train Explosion, the next project from Shin Godzilla director Shinji Higuchi. A modern reboot of the 1975 Japanese film The Bullet Train, Bullet Train Explosion follows Tohoku Shinkansen Hayabusa No. 60, a train which has been rigged to explode if its speed drops below 100 km/h (62 mph). That is, unless a ransom of 100 billion yen (approximately $667 million) is paid.
SEE ALSO: 'Bullet Train' review: David Leitch snatched Guy Ritchie's whole vibeAboard the train is conductor Takaichi (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi), who looks like he's about to demonstrate a ridiculously fierce commitment to customer service and passenger safety. He won't be alone on the worst train ride ever though, with the ensemble cast also including Kanata Hosoda, Non, Jun Kaname, Machiko Ono, Hana Toyoshima, and Takumi Saitoh.
Bullet Train Explosion will arrive April 23 on Netflix.
