UPDATE: Oct. 9, 2024, 4:00 a.m. EDT This article has been updated with the latest iPad pricing and availability on Prime Big Deal Days.

Among the many items marked down early — including Apple Watches and AirPods — you'll find a decent variety of iPads, from M2 Airs to the ninth generation iPad. Although the retailer hasn't deemed any of the below official deals from the member-exclusive Prime Big Deal Days sale (aka the official name for this October Prime Day), we still think they're worth checking out ahead of time.

Best iPad deal Apple iPad mini (6th gen, A15 Bionic chip, 64GB, WiFi) $379.99 at AmazonCheck out our full review of the iPad mini.
We're probably due for a new iPad mini soon, but this 2021 model still holds up as a great portable option from Apple. With the M4 Pro line just released this year, Apple is still struggling to get its tablets to be legitimate laptop replacements for most people. In the case that you're mainly using a tablet to watch videos, read books, and play games, the iPad mini is an excellent choice. At $379.99, it's back to the record-low price we saw it hit last month, making it one of the best iPad deals to grab ahead of Prime Big Deal Days.

If you still feel a little overwhelmed by the fact that October Prime Day (aka Prime Big Deal Days) exists, and that the holiday shopping season starts in October, we see you and we understand.
SEE ALSO: Everything you need to know about Amazon's October Prime Day sale: Official dates, the competition, and moreWe will say, though, that the major advantage of having a few sitewide shopping events pre-November and not post-Thanksgiving is that you can stock up on any holiday travel essentials like Apple AirTags. Bluetooth trackers may not feel like an essential, but finding yourself the last person standing at baggage claim can certainly make you change your tune.
AirTags are especially great for Apple users, as they're easy to set up, and give you more range thanks to the way the tracker uses any Apple device with Find My to calibrate its location, even when it's far away from your particular device.
SEE ALSO: Amazon just dropped a new Fire HD 8 tablet — and it's already 45% off for October Prime DayWe do want to note there many people had concerns that these devices could easily (and quietly) track people without their knowledge, but Apple has worked with Google to make sure that anyone — AirTag user or not — is notified via their device that an unrecognized AirTag is traveling with them.
Obviously, these safety concerns aren't limited to just AirTag users, but we always think it's best to go in with as much knowledge about a product as possible before buying. With that said, here are the best AirTag deals live ahead of Prime Big Deal Days.
Best AirTags deal overall Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirTags (4-pack) $79.99 at Best BuyWhile typically Amazon has the best deals ahead of their sale, they actually sold out of this four-pack of AirTags. They had it priced at $79.98, but if paying one cent more isn't a dealbreaker for you, Best Buy still has the set in stock. The price of $79.99 puts each AirTag at about $20, netting you about $5 in savings per AirTag if you were to buy them individually instead. Plus, having multiple AirTags gives you the flexibility to use them on your luggage, your keys, your pets — basically, your options open up.
Best individual AirTag deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirTag $24.99 at AmazonYou might already own several AirTags and just want one more, or you might have never owned a Bluetooth tracker before and want to try one out before you invest in four of them. Whatever your reason, $5 off an AirTag is a nice bonus, if not a huge markdown. We typically don't see them fall much lower than $25, even in the midst of shopping holidays, so buying one now before the Prime Day madness begins isn't a bad idea.

UPDATE: Oct. 9, 2024, 4:15 a.m. EDT This list has been updated with the latest pricing and availability on AirPods for Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale.
Best AirPods deals for Prime Day 2 Best over-ear headphone deal Apple AirPods Max (Lightning) $394.99 at Amazon (Save $154.01) Get Deal Best deal without ANC AirPods 4 $119 at Amazon (Save $10) Get Deal Best AirPods with noise-cancelling deal Apple AirPods Pro 2 $168.99 at Amazon (Save $80.01) Get DealApple's AirPods are notoriously expensive — but they're popular for a reason. If you want to see what all the fuss is about without (completely) breaking the bank, shopping events like Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days can be a great time to pick up a pair of the headphones.
Now that the October Prime-member exclusive sale has officially started, AirPods deals are in full swing, with the Pros down to their lowest price ever and the AirPods 4 with and without ANC marked down.
SEE ALSO: Everything you need to know about Amazon's October Prime Day sale: Official dates, the competition, and morePrime Big Deal Days runs until Oct. 9 at 11:59 p.m. PDT, but we've seen particularly good AirPods deals sell out before. If you've been waiting to buy a pair, now is a good time. The only other time the Pros and Lightning AirPods Max hit the prices they're currently at this year was during July's Prime Day (the Maxes have dropped slightly lower one other time earlier this summer). It wouldn't be wild to see these prices come back down during Black Friday, but if you don't want to wait, don't count on these headphones reaching the same price points in between the two shopping holidays.
Below, you'll find our complete list of the best AirPod deals during October Prime Day. For folks who aren't married to the fruit brand, you'll also find plenty of more deals on headphones during Prime Day here.
Best AirPods deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirPods Pro 2 $168.99 at AmazonCheck out our full review of the Apple AirPods Pro.
The reason we recommend these earbuds on basically every headphone buying guide we have is that what they claim to do, they do well. Their noise cancellation is some of the best in class for earbuds, their sound is robust, and their battery life is pretty decent. While they lean on the expensive side, grabbing them while they're down to $168.99 is a great move. Throughout the year, you'll find these earbuds regularly fall down to $199, and with slightly less regularity, $189. Though these earbuds aren't brand new anymore, I expect that this sale price will be even harder to catch, likely only popping up on shopping holidays until a newer model is released.

UPDATE: Oct. 9, 2024, 4:20 a.m. EDT This post has been updated with the latest pricing and availability on Apple Watches for Prime Big Deal Days, plus more deals you can shop from Amazon.
The best Apple Watch deals on Prime Day at a glance: Best Series 9 deal Apple Watch Series 9 (41mm, GPS) $299 at Amazon (Save $100) Get Deal Best Series 10 deal Apple Watch Series 10 (46mm, GPS) $406.99 at Amazon (Save $22.01) Get Deal Best Ultra deal Apple Watch Ultra 2 $734.89 at Amazon (Save $64.11) Get Deal Best SE deal Apple Watch SE (40mm, GPS) $169.99 at Amazon (save $79.01) Get DealPrime Big Deal Days (aka Prime Day part two) is finally here. As in years past, Amazon came through with early price drops on major categories, including Apple Watches, weeks ahead of the big day. And now that the event has officially started, prices on some models have dropped even further.
SEE ALSO: Everything you need to know about Amazon's October Prime Day sale: Official dates, the competition, and moreWe started seeing price cuts on the Series 9, Ultra 2, and even the brand-new Series 10 last week. Prices on those models have largely remained the same now that day one of the sale is underway. That's not a bad thing, of course. A $100 price cut on the Series 9 watches is welcome, and we'll likely see them get phased out after this fall shopping season, making it a good time to pick one up. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch SE just got an extra $30 price drop in multiple configurations, dropping most models to new record-low prices.
We'll be keeping an eye out for further price drops as Prime Big Deal Days continues. Be sure to check back for updates throughout the sale (and even after).
Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. Deals with a strikeout were either sold out or expired at the time of writing.
Best Apple Watch deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple Watch Series 9 (41mm, GPS) $299.00 at AmazonCheck out our full review of the Apple Watch Series 9.
At just one year old, the Series 9 is hardly outdated. It comes with the same 18 hours of battery life as the Series 10 and many of the same fitness features. While you'll get a slightly larger display with the newer Apple Watch and a sleep apnea sensor, you'll save $100 on the Series 9 because it's the "old" Apple Watch. Both watches have the same 2,000-nit max brightness, which Mashable Senior Editor Stan Schroeder said was one of the best reasons to grab the watch. Overall, if you've never bought into the Apple Watch ecosystem and want to save some cash, this Series 9 deal is a decent bang for your buck. If $299 is still out of your ideal price range, the Apple Watch SE makes a great alternative – especially at an all-time low price.

Best camping deal Opens in a new window Credit: Camelbak Camelbak Lobo 9 Bike Hydration Pack $62.99 at AmazonOne of the most important aspects of camping, or any outdoor activity for that matter, is staying hydrated. Without water or a good way to get it, you're cooked — so make sure you take plenty of water with you with a hydration backpack. This one can hold plenty of H2O in its reservoir and has plenty of space for additional supplies with a magnetic tube strap to keep your drinking tube around when you need it. It has a breathable mesh harness to keep you cool and comfortable, as well as a compartment where you can store your helmet instead of wearing it or carrying it to your destination. For less than $100, the Camelbak Lobo 9 Bike Hydration Pack may well be your lifeline one day should you encounter an emergency while camping. And believe it or not, not having enough water at your disposal is an emergency.

SAVE $150: Bose's QuietComfort headphones are down to $199 from their retail price of $349 this Prime Day.
Bose QuietComfort headphones $199.00 at AmazonIf you step into my boyfriend’s and my apartment, it’d be pretty easy to guess our favorite color. We have green bedding, a green shower curtain, green plants everywhere — heck, I’m evening typing this on a green keyboard. So, when we first saw Bose’s cypress green colorway for the QuietComfort headphones, we knew we wanted to buy them.
SEE ALSO: Live Blog: The latest news on October Prime Day 2024Now, I review headphones for a living, so I have a pretty solid stock of them and I’m not chomping at the bit to drop a ton of money on a new pair. The Bose QuietComforts retail for $349, and neither my boyfriend nor I could justify spending that money. However, for Prime Big Deal Days, the Bose QC headphones have dropped down to $199, or $150 off. That, I can justify. (The only other time the headphones have been this discounted was July's Prime Day.)
I personally have not tried out this specific model of headphones, but my colleagues Bethany Allard and Samantha Mangino rave about the Bose QuietComfort line, and I’d buy anything they recommend.
I know these headphones are going to be wildly comfortable and I know Bose doesn’t disappoint when it comes to noise cancellation or sound quality. The QCs have an adjustable EQ, quiet and aware modes, and up to 24 hours of battery life per charge. Brb while I click “add to cart.”

What are the best October Prime Day deals?Unsurprisingly, Amazon has reserved a lot of really good deals for itself: Select devices across its Echo, Fire, Kindle, Blink, and eero brands are on sale for up to 58% off on Prime Big Deal Days, including dirt-cheap Fire tablets and Echo smart speakers that come with free smart bulbs. Prime members can snag four free months of Amazon Music Unlimited, three free months of Kindle Unlimited, and a $10 discount on one GrubHub order of $15 or more; don't forget to use the coupon code PRIME10 at checkout.
Beyond that, we've seen a slew of TVs, laptops, tablets, headphones, and fitness trackers on sale on Amazon. Here's what was live at the time of writing:
Best Apple deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple MacBook Pro, 14-inch (M3, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) $1,699.00 at AmazonRead Mashable's full review of the 14-inch Apple MacBook Pro (M3).
"The latest 14-inch MacBook Pro features an M3 chip that supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for rendering lifelike lighting, plus a bright 120Hz mini-LED display, tons of ports (including an SDXC card slot), and a battery that lasted over 16 hours per charge in our testing. It's another Mashable Choice Award winner.
All configurations of the 14-inch M3 Pro are now on sale at all-time lows on Amazon (including the base model, which is now just $1,299). However, we're partial to the bumped-up version with 16GB of memory and 1TB of SSD storage: that extra RAM is necessary if you're going to be using it for multitasking and/or creative work. Normally $1,999, it's now just $1,699 — a 15% savings. Note that it's technically $100 cheaper at Best Buy, but only for paid members of its My Best Buy program." — Haley Henschel, Senior Shopping Reporter

"The new Fire HD 8 has the same display, processor, 13-hour battery life, and storage options as the older model, but Amazon's added a gig of extra RAM for "enhanced performance while streaming, gaming, browsing, or downloading photos and videos." (Don't expect it to be super powerful, but more memory never anyone.) Its rear camera has also gotten a bump from 2MP to 5MP, which should translate to slightly better shots. On the software side, its newly added generative AI features include Writing Assist, Webpage Summaries, and a Wallpaper Creator.
No need to upgrade if you already own the previous model, but those in need of a new portable, affordable tablet should consider short-listing this guy. The 32GB base model is on sale for $54.99 through Oct. 9 (the second half of Prime Big Deal Days), which works out to a 45% savings." — Haley Henschel, Senior Shopping Reporter

"Who says you need to spend a grand to get a nice (and decently sized) 4K TV? With the 35% discount that Amazon slapped on the 55-inch version of its most affordable Fire TV, Prime members could actually get one for two different rooms for way less than $1,000.
As Amazon's most basic in-house Fire TV, the 4-Series would be best suited for people who aren't super picky about saturation or brightness levels as long as it's a step up from their old LED TV — and this definitely will be. With the intuitive Fire TV platform built-in, the 4-Series can access all of your favorite streaming apps, which you can arrange in whatever layout makes sense to you." — Leah Stodart, Senior Shopping Reporter

Is the Amazon Fire Stick 4K the best streamer we've ever tested? No, Roku takes the cake there. However, it still works perfectly fine, and not to mention, it's hard to turn away from its delightful $30 price tag on Prime Day. Having tested the Amazon Fire Stick TV, set-up is easy, as simple as plugging it into an HDMI port in the back of your TV.
While the home screen is a little clunky and slow, full of ads and promotions for Prime Video content, it is a dream for those who primarily stream on the site. The Amazon Fire Stick 4K is down to $24.99, saving you $25 and 50% off.

"Catan is a classic strategy game that’s perfect for families and game nights. And, at 50% off — down to just $29.99 — it's a steal. (You can get the five-to-six-player extension for $24.49). In this game, you’ll need to collect resources, settle the land, and trade with other players to build the biggest settlements. If you like any of the digital empire-building games, Catan is a great tabletop version that requires tight strategy, some luck, and a good dose of diplomacy to win." — Tabitha Britt, Mashable Shopping Contributor

"If you’re really into drones, the name Holy Stone should be on your radar. This brand is known for making high-end drones that are feature-packed and, at times, super affordable.
The HS175D RC Quadcopter is currently $135.99 at Amazon, which is [$134 off its true MSRP on the Holy Stone website. (Amazon's list price is deflated.)] It’s a solid mid-range drone option that shoots 4K videos, has a 46-minute flight time, and a special flight mode where you can direct its movement — whether you want it to follow you or fly along a specific path." — Tabitha Britt, Mashable Shopping Contributor

"Ecovacs wasn't lying when it came up with the term 'all-in-one cleaning hub' here, considering that this robot vacuum not only empties itself and washes and dries its own mopping pads, but also has another sweet feature tacked onto the dock: a handheld cordless vacuum. If your main hesitation with robot vacuums was that they can't scale a staircase, sweep under couch cushions, or detail corners up to your standards, this is the one robot vacuum purchase that can — now for well under $1,000." — Leah Stodart, Senior Shopping Reporter

Opens in a new window Credit: Garmin Garmin Venu 3S $395.00 at Amazon"Ideal for smaller wrists, the Garmin Venu 3S is about .2 inches smaller in diameter and .3 oz lighter than the standard Venu 3. It still offers the same advanced features, like a built-in speaker and microphone to take calls, the ability to store music, and an abundance of health and fitness tools and insights. The only real difference besides the size is that the 3S has a slightly shorter battery life (about 10 days in smartwatch mode versus the 3's 14 days), but it still blows the Apple Watch battery out of the water. It's usually $449.99, but you can save $55 during the October Prime event and get it for only $395. That's a new all-time low." — Christina Buff, Mashable Shopping Contributor

"Espresso machines can easily run you near $1,000, and though Breville is known for their pricier machines, this Duo Temp Pro deal sits squarely in the middle of the budget range for most consumer espresso machines. You'll get the low-pressure pre-infusion designed to help you achieve even extraction, a milk frother, and a machine that heats up quickly. If you're not a huge coffee drinker or prefer as minimal effort as possible, one of the under $200 options or a Nespresso might work better for you. However, if you're looking to level up your espresso game but don't want to pay $500-plus, then the Duo Temp Pro is a solid pick.
According to the price tracker camelcamelcamel, this machine has dropped lower in price only one time before for a record low of $279.99." — Bethany Allard, Lead Shopping reporter

The Blink Mini 2 can take care of the inside of your home, day or night, while the Outdoor 4 can keep an eye on things outside. "Samsung's Galaxy A35 is a 'strong buy for the price,' as our friends at PCMag (also owned by Ziff Davis) said in their review. The budget-friendly Galaxy phone was released as a more affordable alternative to the Galaxy S24. As a budget phone, it doesn't offer the same speed and performance as the S24, but it also doesn't cost over $1,000. It packs a gorgeous 6.6-inch display, Samsung's Exynos 1380 processor, a 50 MP wide-angle camera with optical image stabilization, and a long-lasting 5,000mAh battery that supports fast charging. It's not the most impressive phone on the market, but on sale for [under $300], it's a pretty hard deal to beat." — Christina Buff, Mashable Shopping Contributor

SAVE $79: The Google Pixel Watch 2 is on sale at an all-time low price on Amazon Prime Day. It'll run you $170.99, which is a 32% drop from its list price of $249.99.
Opens in a new window Credit: Google Google Pixel Watch 2 $170.99 at AmazonYou can get Google's Pixel Watch 2 at an all-time-low price on Amazon's Prime Day on Tuesday. It might not be the latest smartwatch offering, but it may be just what you need at the right price.
The Pixel Watch 2 is priced at $170.99 for Prime Day, which is a 32% drop from its list price of $249.99 (previously $349). Back in August, in fact, $249.99 was considered a really good deal — so this is quite a nice price drop in just a couple of months.
Mashable's tech editor, Kimberly Gedeon, extensively covered the pros, cons, and differences between the Pixel Watch 2 and its successor the Pixel Watch 3. Gedeon wrote that the two watches were quite similar beyond the size of the display.
"If you've been praying for a bigger display, get the Pixel Watch 3," she wrote. "If you've been holding out for better battery life or a more fortified display, you want to wait for the Pixel Watch 4."
And if you're in the market for a Pixel Watch 2, there certainly hasn't ever been a cheaper time to buy.
Hurricane Milton is the monster storm churning through the Gulf of Mexico, and is headed toward the populated Tampa Bay region of Florida. Numerous weather experts are watching the major hurricane closely, sharing real-time updates about what's being forecast as possibly the worst storm to strike Tampa in a century.
The wind and storm surge predictions are so dire that both Tampa mayor Jane Castor and President Joe Biden are urging residents in evacuation zones to flee, or face imminent death.
SEE ALSO: Plane flies into Hurricane Milton, captures turbulent footageBut finding accurate information online about Milton's path and landfall isn't easy. Conspiracy theories and misinformation about the hurricane are rife. The situation is so bad that the White House's new Reddit account will start debunking bad information circulating about Milton and Hurricane Helene, which tore through parts of Florida and the southeast just weeks ago.
Meanwhile, bona fide weather experts are worn out by untrained posters and commenters who think they know a thing or two about tropical cyclones.
To help you filter out the falsehoods, we've assembled a list of trusted weather experts on X/Twitter who've been tracking Milton. Of course, accounts run by the National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service, federal agencies tasked specifically with updating the public around the clock, are also trustworthy.
Now, here are top weather experts to follow for accurate information, presented in alphabetical order:

If you're ready to bring home some that actually offer decent sound quality, comfort, and some great colors to boot, you're going to want to take advantage of this Prime Day deal.
SEE ALSO: Live Blog: The latest news on October Prime Day 2024As of Oct. 8, the Beats Studio Pro x Kim Kardashian headphones are on sale for $189.99, down from their usual price of $349.95. That's $80 off their previous sale price in September, so if you chose to skip out on them last month, now's the best time to go ahead and lock in your purchase.
This special edition of the fan-favorite Beats Studio Pro headphones comes in three different hues: dune, moon, and earth, all of which are inspired by Kim's favorite colors (which you'll see all over her house). The color makeover hasn't changed what's under the hood, however, and these are excellent options if you need a new daily driver in terms of audio.
The headphones boast powerful 40mm drivers for booming sound as well as active noise cancellation and transparency mode so you can hear what's going on around you. Plus, they'll get you up to 40 hours of listening time before they need to be charged. Just 10 minutes can boost them up to four hours' power if you're in a pinch.

Best Kindle book deal Opens in a new window Credit: Europa Editions The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante $3.99 at AmazonObviously, taste in books is very personal, but for anyone out there who likes decade-spanning series about the complexities of female friendship, the Neapolitan novels fit the bill. You've probably seen this book recommended before, but I have to add my endorsement. When I finally picked up this series earlier this summer, I found myself unable to read anything else until I finished all four books — currently, my friend who I lent the first book is in the same cycle (and for anyone who's read the series, yes, we do text about how much we hate Nino).
Basically, if you've read or are planning on reading the first one, I'm willing to bet you'll be in need of the fourth one at some point — might as well get it for $3.99. And when you're done reading the books, you can check out the show.

Opens in a new window Credit: Ooni Ooni Karu 16 Multi-Fuel Outdoor Pizza Oven $519.20 at AmazonOoni's Karu 16 multi-fuel outdoor pizza oven — one of its premium offerings — is priced at $519.20 for Amazon's Prime Day. For more Prime Day, check out our massive list of the best deals and our live blog that's being updated with the latest news and deals.
The Karu 16 multi-fuel model is, well, what you would expect — a pizza oven that can run on multiple fuels. You're able to use wood, charcoal, or gas with the oven, which is a helpful trick. I've tested a wood-pellet-fueled Ooni in the past and there's a bit of a learning curve in getting it right. The convenience of the gas-powered option is a nice feature.
Sure, the Karu 16 is one of the bigger and more expensive models on the market, but if you're going to spring for it, now may be the time.
Flying through the most powerful hurricanes is part of the job.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Hurricane Hunters — brazen pilots and storm researchers — journey through storms like Florida-bound Hurricane Milton and work as a high-altitude weather station. They collect invaluable data about storms which are fed to forecasters and their computer models, allowing for the most informed predictions. And they're often impressively accurate.
NOAA posted footage of a turbulent atmospheric ride through Milton on Oct. 8. You can watch it below.
"Bumpy ride into Hurricane #Milton on @NOAA WP-3D Orion #NOAA43 'Miss Piggy' to collect data to help improve the forecast and support hurricane research," the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center posted online.
SEE ALSO: Hurricane Milton: See Tampa Bay webcams live as the storm approaches"Miss Piggy" is a four-engine turboprop aircraft — you can see the propellers outside the window — designed to fly for some eight to 10 hours while releasing "dropwindsondes" into the storm. These tubes relay back information about a tropical storm's wind direction, wind speed, pressure, and beyond.
"Pardon my Appalachian hoots and hollers but this is right up there with the Ian flight from two years ago. Floor panels came up. Dropsondes broke. A mess in the cabin," NOAA Hurricane Hunter engineer Nick Underwood wrote online.
"All that turbulence and we still get the dropsonde out to collect data. This is the job. Important work," he added.

Though a number of factors influence the formation of strong hurricanes (opposing winds that can break apart storms, moist or dry air, etc.), a vital influence is warm sea surface temperatures of over 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius). Warm oceans act as jet fuel for hurricanes, storm scientists explain. That's because warmer oceans fuel tropical storms as more water naturally evaporates into the air, giving storms energy and moisture to intensify. Crucially, the oceans, which absorb most of the heat created by burning fossil fuels, are relentlessly warming.
Today, Atlantic hurricanes are already twice as likely to develop from a milder storm into a major hurricane.
