In FX's Dying for Sex, one woman's quest for her first orgasm with another person becomes a remarkable journey of both self-discovery and reckoning with death.
SEE ALSO: Should you sign up for Hulu? Our film critics weigh in.The miniseries is based on the Dying for Sex podcast, hosted by actor Nikki Boyer (who executive produces the series) and her friend Molly Kochan (Michelle Williams). While the series is a fictionalized account of Molly's life, it does take the same starting point: After being diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, Molly leaves her husband Steve (Jay Duplass) and explores her own sexual desires in ways she never thought possible.
Naturally, this means Dying for Sex is full of frank portrayals of sex, be it awkward, revelatory, pleasurable, or (usually) a combination of all three. But these experiences, as life-affirming as they are for Molly, share space with honest conversations about mortality. That makes for a potent, tear-jerking combination, one that Dying for Sex still somehow manages to lighten in a remarkable balancing act.
What's Dying for Sex about? Michelle Williams and Jay Duplass in "Dying for Sex." Credit: Sarah Shatz / FXAs Dying for Sex introduces Molly and Steve in couples' therapy, it's clear her decision to leave him has been a long time coming. After her first bout with breast cancer, treatment for which included a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction, Molly wants to be intimate with her husband again. But Steve no longer feels that desire. When Molly does initiate oral sex, he becomes too sad to continue. He pities her, and when Molly receives the diagnosis of metastatic cancer, she realizes Steve seems excited for her to once again be pitiable. Meanwhile, Molly just doesn't want to die without being touched or feeling sexual pleasure again.
Upon making that realization, Molly leaves Steve and turns to her best friend Nikki (Jenny Slate) to be her new caretaker. With Nikki's support, and with the advice to start a "bucket list" from her sex-positive palliative care social worker Sonya (Esco Jouléy), it's not long before Molly submerges herself in a new world of sex, revelling in everything from dating app dick pics to submission and dominance.
Dying for Sex pulls no punches when it comes to sex. Michelle Williams in "Dying for Sex." Credit: Sarah Shatz / FXMany people in Molly's life, including Steve and her mother Gail (Sissy Spacek), judge Molly for her exploration, even going so far as to "blame" it on childhood trauma. But Dying for Sex has no interest in pathologizing Molly's wants, even though later episodes do somewhat clumsily emphasize how her trauma has affected her intimate experiences as an adult.
Instead, Dying for Sex launches Molly into a judgment-free rollercoaster ride of human sexuality. She experiments with vibrators, goes to sex parties (that are also potlucks!), and learns about new kinks with a variety of partners, including her hot neighbor (Rob Delaney). The scenes are understandably raunchy, but also full of communication about limits and boundaries. One such conversation — about orgasm torture, specifically — takes place in a crowded cafe, just one of many scenes where Dying for Sex finds humor by placing discussions of intimate desires in mundane surroundings. Williams' bright-eyed curiosity and excitement about the subjects at hand adds further lightness to the series, emphasizing Molly's open embrace of a world she'd previously denied herself.
SEE ALSO: 'Babygirl' finally shows us what subspace feels likeBut Dying for Sex's sex scenes can be heartbreaking, too. Molly spends much of the series trying to prevent people from reducing her to her cancer, even going so far as to join a support group for people with earlier stages of cancer in order to separate herself from her terminal diagnosis. That mentality extends to the bedroom as well. She hides her cancer from her partners and chooses to keep her bra on to hide her mastectomy scars, each decision a reminder of why she's on this road to sexual enlightenment in the first place.
Also heartbreaking are Molly's early attempts at post-Steve sex. Often, she finds she can't voice what she want, or she doesn't even know what feels good. But as Dying for Sex continues and Molly discovers what turns her on, those desires snap into place. Thankfully, the series takes as candid and forthright an approach to depicting those desires as Molly is in communicating them.
Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate make Dying for Sex a beautiful love story. Jenny Slate and Michelle Williams in "Dying for Sex." Credit: Sarah Shatz/FXAmidst all the sex, Dying for Sex fashions a gorgeous, heart-wrenching love story. Not with any of Molly's partners — although her relationship with Delaney's neighbor character may grow to fit that bill — but with Nikki.
That's because as Molly is forging new connections with her partners, she's also strengthening her bond with Nikki. Thrust suddenly into the role of caretaker, Nikki gets off to a tough start when it comes to helping Molly with her medical needs — especially with Steve breathing down her neck. Yet just as Molly settles into her search for new sexual experiences, Nikki soon finds her footing in a world of insurance claims and medical records.
That adjustment doesn't mean Nikki's responsibilities aren't difficult. In fact, people in her life keep telling her to set boundaries with Molly — perhaps a parallel to people like Steve who doubt Molly's sex quest. Yet like Molly, Nikki holds firm. Her best friend is dying, after all, and she's going to do everything she can to get her solid care (and help her find a way to get off).
Dying for Sex is likely going to be a tough watch for anyone who has experienced cancer or who has watched a loved one go through it. I sobbed through quite a bit of it, and much of that came down to the chemistry between Williams and Slate. As a duo, they oscillate between gallows humor and genuine heartbreak at a moment's notice, a dichotomy that feels so natural you can't believe you've only been watching their takes on Molly and Nikki for a few episodes. You also can't believe that their friendship will one day come to an end, but Dying for Sex faces that inevitability head on, as honest about death as it is about sex.
"I told [Steve] I don't want to die with him," Molly tells Nikki in the show's premiere. "I want to die with you."
It's that simple statement, and all the beautiful, terrible baggage that comes with it, that forms the foundation of Dying for Sex, paving the way for Molly and Nikki's messy journey through death, sex, and everything in between.

Nintendo just held a Nintendo Direct. No, not the Switch 2 Direct you've been waiting for, but another one.
In what will potentially be the last Switch 1-focused Direct livestream, Nintendo made a bundle of announcements, some of which weren't even games. Instead of wasting time, let's get right to it. Here's everything Nintendo announced.
Dragon Quest I and II remakesLast year, Square Enix released a really gorgeous "HD-2D" remake of Dragon Quest III, with the promise that the first two games in the series would eventually get the same treatment. Good news! That's happening in 2025, though without a firm release date for either of them. Still, they look very pretty and should whet the appetite of old-school RPG fans everywhere.
No Sleep for Kaname DateDo you like anime? Do you also like solving puzzles? If the answer to either of those questions (or ideally both of them) was "yes," then No Sleep for Kaname Date might be for you. The trailer speaks for itself, check it out. It's out July 25.
RAIDOU RemasteredRAIDOU Remastered is a remake of a PlayStation 2 game in the broader Shin Megami Tensei series, which is also where the very popular Persona games come from. This one's more of a period piece with action combat, but the same weird little monster guys from Persona are here, too. This one is out on June 19.
Shadow LabyrinthOur first very weird announcement of the day came in the form of Shadow Labyrinth. This looks like a Metroidvania-type game, except you have a weird little orb with you who can turn into Pac-Man, for some reason. To be clear, it doesn't resemble Pac-Man, it is Pac-Man, complete with accurate sound effects and everything. You can check this out on July 18.
Patapon 1+2Patapon and Patapon 2 were two of the most zany and creative games on the PlayStation Portable, and unfortunately, they've kinda been stuck in purgatory for years. Until now, anyway. These inventive rhythm-strategy games are coming to Switch on July 11, with new accessibility features to make them more approachable for those who didn't play them before.
Story of Seasons: Grand BazaarStory of Seasons, for those who aren't aware, is basically a spiritual successor to Harvest Moon. In this one, you run a bazaar in the middle of an idyllic little fantasy village. If you've ever liked Harvest Moon before, this is essentially the newest one of those. It's out August 27.
Metroid Prime 4: BeyondI expected Metroid Prime 4 to either be part of the Switch 2 direct or the "and one more thing" game for this one, but instead, Nintendo just threw a trailer into the middle of the Direct today. The big news here is that Samus has psychic powers this time, and she also gets a swaggy-looking new suit at the end of the trailer. Unfortunately, there was no release date in this trailer. It's just listed for "2025."
Disney Villains Cursed CafeWe have our first "and it's out today!" reveal of the Direct! This one is a game where you serve coffee to Disney villains. No, really. It actually looks kinda cool. You can play it by the end of today.
WitchbrookIf you've spent the past several years looking for an alternative to Harry Potter, Witchbrook might be the game for you. Out this holiday season, it's a cute-looking game about going to witch school and everything that entails.
The Eternal Life of GoldmanAlso out this holiday is The Eternal Life of Goldman. This is a side-scrolling platformer with gorgeous hand-drawn art, but other than that, it's hard to tell what its deal is. Looks really cool, though!
Gradius OriginsGradius Origins is a comprehensive collection of many of the various games in the long-running Gradius series of scrolling space shooters, including different regional variants of each game, which is rad. There's also a totally new game in here called Salamander III. It's out August 7.
Rift of the NecrodancerThe latest game in the Necrodancer series of stylish rhythm games is out on Switch today. It's a rhythm game, so you likely already know if you're interested or not. It's also supposed to be quite good, so if you've been looking for a new Switch game to play, this might be the one.
Tamagotchi PlazaLaunching on June 27, Tamagotchi Plaza is a game attached to the long-running Tamagotchi brand. Yes, I'm talking about the little digital pet toys from the '90s, but in video game form. It looks cute, if you're into lifestyle simulation stuff with adorable creatures.
Pokemon Legends: Z-APokemon Legends: Z-A was already announced prior to this Direct, but Nintendo took a few minutes to expand on what the game actually is. It's an open-world adventure set in Lumiose City (from Pokemon X and Y) with some interesting new takes on Pokemon gameplay. Unfortunately, there's no date on this yet beyond "late 2025."
Rhythm Heaven GrooveShockingly, there was a game with a 2026 release date in this Direct. Rhythm Heaven is a very long-running (and some would argue underappreciated) series of wacky rhythm games from Nintendo, and Groove looks like it's carrying the torch proudly. It will be out at some point next year.
Virtual Game CardsWe had two major non-game announcements in this Direct. First, Nintendo is updating the Switch firmware in late April to introduce the concept of Virtual Game Cards. In summary, it's a way for people to share digital games they own with others on a temporary, two-week basis. To be honest, based on the trailer, it seems overly complicated for a game-sharing program, but with a new console coming out (and lots of families owning multiple Switches), this is probably necessary.
SaGa Frontier 2 remasterOld-school RPG heads have more to chew on with a remaster of SaGa Frontier 2, part of Square Enix's venerable series of open-ended turn-based RPGs. The best part is that this one is out today.
Monument Valley 1 and 2On April 15, you'll be able to play the beautiful mobile puzzle Monument Valley games on Switch. There are two of them already, with a third coming to Switch this summer. If you like gorgeous, stylistic visuals and clever puzzles, check this out.
Everybody's Golf Hot ShotsSet for sometime in 2025, Everybody's Golf Hot Shots is maybe the weirdest announcement of the day. For one, Everybody's Golf (known traditionally as Hot Shots Golf in the west) is a PlayStation brand, or at least it used to be. For whatever reason, Sony has handed the reins to Bandai Namco, who is releasing it on Switch, PC, and PS5. These are great, arcade-y golf games that anyone can pick up and play. It's just weird that it's on Switch at all.
MARVEL Cosmic InvasionComing this holiday season, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a throwback to old arcade beat-'em-up games with co-op play and multiple classic Marvel heroes to play as.
Tomodachi Life: Living the DreamThe last game announcement from Nintendo is another 2026 title. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a follow-up to a popular 3DS game where you populate an island with Mii characters created by yourself or others. They all speak out loud using creepy modulated computer voices, too. A simple way of looking at it is "Animal Crossing, but really weird."
Nintendo Today!Last but certainly not least, Nintendo is launching a mobile app called Nintendo Today! Yes, the exclamation mark is part of the name. Nintendo Today! is out on iOS and Android starting today, and will deliver news about upcoming Nintendo events and releases daily to those who download it. You need to have a Nintendo account to use it, though. This is speculation on my part, but this feels very much like Nintendo would like to eventually stop relying on X to deliver news to its fans.

You’re likely already familiar with Casetify’s super stylish and durable phone cases, but did you know the brand has recently launched a sleek and tough travel suitcase? Just in time for your spring getaways, too.
Casetify has taken the same impact-proof Bounce bumpers that have likely saved your phone a thousand times over and given them a first-class upgrade. The new 21-inch Bounce carry-on features the same rigorous quality and performance standards as Casetify’s phone cases and is tough enough to grab, stuff, and roll onto the plane — and tuk-tuk — with you.
Here’s a rundown of how the Casetify Bounce carry-on passes muster for all your trips.
Opens in a new window Credit: Casetify Bounce Carry-On Shop Now Rough 'n' tumble testCasetify lives up to the hype when it comes to its impact-proof Bounce technology — and the new carry-on is no exception. The polycarbonate suitcase is sleek and ultra-lightweight, and it has passed more than 40 development tests from both Casetify’s in-house team and independent accredited labs, which is no joke. The ‘tumble test’, for example, puts a loaded suitcase into a rotating chamber filled with obstacles for a whopping 200 cycles. In addition, the carry-on is loaded and dropped from three feet and onto its corners, faces, and edges multiple times.
Credit: Casetify Worry-free wheelsWhether you’re dragging it down the stairs, over cobblestone streets, or just maneuvering on a dime through crowded airport terminals, the Bounce’s 360-degree Hinomoto Miraclent ball-bearing wheels make every pivot smooth and seamless. To pass Casetify standards, the wheels have been rolled down 400 stairs while the carry-on was packed with 26 pounds of stuff. Those train station stairs? No problem.
Handle durability is legit Credit: CasetifyGrab the telescopic handle and jerk the suitcase around, the Bounce can take it. The hearty handle is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and has undergone 5,000 liftings, 3,000 extensions and retractions, and 3,000 jerks during development — so you can just roll it onboard, stash it in the overhead bin, and focus on more important things, like the in-flight snack menu.
If you’re planning to make a break this spring, especially if you’re rough on your stuff, Casetify’s new Bounce suitcase is essential travel gear. The carry-on has been thoroughly put to the test so you can just kick back and enjoy your vacay.

OpenAI released a new image generator this week, and AI-generated Studio Ghibli slop is now all over the internet.
In the livestream demo of the native image generation in ChatGPT and Sora, OpenAI took a selfie and asked the new generator to turn it into an anime frame. The result looked a lot like art from a Studio Ghibli film. It went viral, despite some social media users pointing out the potential copyright violations. All the while, Hayao Miyazaki, the co-founder of Studio Ghibli, has been vocally disgusted by the use of AI in art.

AI is making significant strides in every aspect of our lives, including healthcare. Yet there’s a catch: resource limitations and skepticism continue to be a hurdle, especially when it comes to something as personal as our health.
As the aging population grows and the World Health Organization predicts a shortage of 11.1 million healthcare workers by 2030, a higher quality — and a higher quantity — of healthcare is becoming more critical every day. Can AI help to bridge the future healthcare gap? Will patients and healthcare systems trust it in time to make a difference?
Here’s a look at how AI is transforming healthcare so far and how you can become a stronger advocate so that no generation misses out due to misinformation and mistrust.
Start with real conversations to demystify AITechnology (and AI) progress quickly, which can make some people anxious. A 2024 poll found that 74% of adults aged 50 and over would have very little or no trust in AI-generated health information.
One way to garner trust in AI is to inform family and friends about how AI is already benefitting them. When they use navigation apps to dodge traffic, stream personalized music recs, or unlock their phones with facial recognition, they’re engaging with sophisticated AI systems that adapt to their preferences.
Philips is tackling this trust barrier head-on by developing AI solutions that are transforming how patients — and doctors — look at health and deliver care. The growing list of AI-enabled health solutions points to a future where technology is more normalized, empowering everyone to live better lives.
Push for fairness and transparency in AI-driven careBuilding trust in AI among patients and healthcare professionals is crucial to unlocking its full potential. Yet, AI is advancing faster than the regulations meant to govern it, raising concerns about its ethical and responsible use.
For example, AI is only as good as the data it’s trained on, making high-quality, diverse data essential to minimize errors that could impact patient health.
To establish trust, clear frameworks are needed to ensure AI is safe, ethical, and promotes equitable care. Philips has played a key role in this effort, helping to develop an AI Code of Conduct as part of the National Academy of Medicine’s Steering Committee, co-chaired by Philips CEO Roy Jakobs.
By embedding these principles into its own AI solutions, Philips is setting a standard for responsible innovation — and adaptation — in healthcare.
Embrace AI-powered preventative careAs healthcare systems face increasing strain from aging populations and workforce shortages, preventive care is becoming more important than ever. The ability to detect health issues early reduces the burden on hospitals later and improves patient outcomes. But, for AI-driven preventive care to be effective in the future, trust among healthcare professionals is essential now.
For instance, Philips offers an AI-driven platform to help doctors detect early signs of heart rhythm irregularities, a leading but often unnoticed cause of strokes. Similarly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company introduced a wearable device that has proven invaluable in continuously monitoring patient vitals, allowing healthcare professionals to respond proactively when a patient’s conditions worsen.
These innovations highlight AI’s potential to improve preventative care and give patients more time and better care. Ultimately, benefits like this will encourage healthcare professionals to put more trust in AI.
Make daily wellness easier with smart devicesBut for AI to work, we don’t just need healthcare providers to trust it; we need patients, too. Using AI and smart gadgets in your routine is yet another way to begin building trust.
Even the act of brushing your teeth with an AI-enabled electric toothbrush can begin to normalize the use of AI when you start raving to your friends and family about your easy-breezy dental checkup.
Philips is taking the lead here, incorporating AI into everyday products in order to build a foundation of trust, starting at home. The company also offers a shaver that uses AI to reduce skin irritation and a baby monitor that uses AI to translate a baby’s sounds and body language into understandable insights into the baby’s wellbeing.
Share your wins and change mindsThe more exposure and positive experiences patients and healthcare professionals have with AI in all areas of their lives, the greater chance the technology will be more widely embraced for what it is. As a vital healthcare tool, AI can help improve lives now and in the future.
You can do your part to instill trust by openly sharing your AI success stories with others. Whether you’re firing texts using your phone’s AI-powered voice assistant, asking your doctor about smarter health options, or dialing in your hygiene with an AI toothbrush, your experiences can help break through boundaries, paving the way for a future where AI plays a key role in healthcare.
Looking ahead, Philips also envisions a future where AI continues to set the dot further beyond the horizon. From AI innovations in ultrasound devices, at-home cardiac arrhythmia monitoring, and more effective cancer screenings, the future of healthcare looks promising.

I had never listened to a single audiobook before, but I decided to sign up for a three-month membership at a discount. Now I'm hooked. During Amazon's Big Spring Sale (which runs through March 31) and beyond, Audible is running that same deal.
Through April 30, new subscribers can get three months of Audible's Premium Plus membership for just $0.99 per month. Regularly $14.95 per month, that saves you $13.96 or about 93% monthly. A Premium Plus membership unlocks access to hundreds of Audible Original audiobooks, a credit you can use each month to purchase titles in the premium collection (regardless of the price), and exclusive access to members-only sales. Just last week, members could snag two titles for a single credit in an exclusive BOGO sale.

Audiobooks use the same part of your brain as reading physical books, so they definitely count towards your reading goal for the year. Not to mention, they give you the freedom to multitask while you devour endless pages. In other words, they don't tie you down to one spot on the couch like physical books. I regularly listen while I work out, clean, walk, drive, and cook.
Books aren't cheap. This three-month deal essentially gets you three premium titles, plus an abundance of free titles, for less than $3. It's hard to beat that price. Just remember that once the promotional period ends, you'll automatically be charged the full price of membership ($14.95/month) unless you cancel.

SAVE $79: As of March 27, Apple AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) are on sale for $169.99 in Amazon's Big Spring Sale. That’s a 32% discount from the usual $249.
Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirPods Pro 2 $169.99 at AmazonI think we all deserve better earbuds. Mine currently sound like they’re being strangled in a sock drawer. That’s why I’m eyeing this Amazon Spring Sale deal: Apple AirPods Pro 2 (with USB-C) are down to $169.99, saving you $79 off the regular $249 price. That’s the lowest I’ve seen in months, and for something this good, it feels like a steal.
These are not your average AirPods. Apple threw its best H2 chip inside, giving them punchier bass, clearer calls, and that fancy Personalized Spatial Audio thing that makes it feel like the music is swirling around your head. And let’s not forget about Adaptive Audio, which is like having a superpower that makes loud crowds magically disappear. Noise cancellation is solid, transparency mode is eerie in a good way, and Conversation Awareness is there to save you from screaming “WHAT?” every time someone tries to talk to you.
SEE ALSO: The best Apple deals in Amazon's Big Spring Sale: New iPads and M4 MacBook Airs are already on saleIn my opinion, these are some of the smartest earbuds on the market. They double as a hearing aid with iOS 17, and they’re sweatproof, dustproof, and Lifeproof enough to handle my chaotic commute. Apple includes four silicone tip sizes, which is great for anyone (me) whose ears reject standard buds like a bad Tinder date.
Price: $169.99 $249
Retailer: Amazon
Earbuds Type: In-Ear Wireless
Chip: Apple H2
Charging Port: USB-C
Noise Control: Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive Audio
Water Resistance: IP54 (dust, sweat, and water resistant)
Audio Features: Personalized Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos support
Smart Features: Conversation Awareness, Touch Control, Siri Interactions
Fit Options: Four silicone tip sizes (XS, S, M, L)
Charging with USB-C is a personal win for me. I’ve already sent all my Lightning cables to that great junk drawer in the sky. The sound is crisp, the bass hits, and the fit stays put even when I’m pretending to run. As for the feature set, it's giving overachiever, but in a charming, straight-A student kind of way.
I want these. You probably do too. If your current earbuds are clinging to life or just making every playlist sound like it’s underwater, this deal is your graceful exit strategy.

For better or worse, no one does it like Nintendo.
While we've spent the past three months heavily anticipating the Nintendo Switch 2-themed Nintendo Direct livestream that's happening on April 2, the mothership decided to announce another surprise Nintendo Direct for Thursday, March 27 at 10 a.m. ET. It's set to be about 30 minutes long, and you can watch it on Nintendo's YouTube channel.
SEE ALSO: 'Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition' review: A forgotten classic is back with a vengeanceAs for what to expect in this stream, it's basically anyone's guess. However, be warned that there will be no Switch 2 information in this Direct whatsoever. It is going to be entirely focused on OG Switch games, and since there are no upcoming first-party Switch games with firm release dates right now, there's a lot of mystery around this stream. I would not be surprised at all to see Metroid pop up here in one form or another, whether it's a bigger reveal for the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 or another remaster of an older Metroid game to whet your whistle until Prime 4 comes out.
SEE ALSO: Switch 2 release date, price and everything else we expect from Nintendo DirectBut really, outside of that, it's very difficult to even speculate about what we'll see. That's what makes it fun, I suppose.
