Strands requires the player to perform a twist on the classic word search. Not the day you're after? Here's the solution to yesterday's Wordle.
Industry Season 3, episode 6, ends not just with a bang, but with a total blowout between Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) and Harper Stern (Myha'la).
The argument begins with Yasmin's realization that Harper used her in her efforts to short investment bank Pierpoint, yet there's so much more to it than that. Yasmin can't reconcile that the Harper who helped her cover up her involvement in her predatory father Charles' (Adam Levy) death would take advantage of her like this — on the day Yasmin identified his corpse, no less!
SEE ALSO: How the Pet Shop Boys became the soundtrack to 'Industry' Season 3The ensuing fight is an absolute scorcher: no insult left unsaid, no stone left unturned. Yasmin attacks Harper for using her pain, labeling her a narcissist and picking at her deepest wounds, like her relationship with her estranged brother. Harper retaliates with fire of her own. She reminds Yasmin of how ordinary she is without the veneer of privilege to protect her. Later, in an echo of Charles's final argument with Yasmin, she calls her a whore.
"They can't possibly come back from this." - Myha'la"I just genuinely thought, 'This is the end for them,'" Myha'la told Mashable of her first reaction to reading the argument. "They can't possibly come back from this."
Speaking with Mashable on a joint Zoom call, Myha'la and Abela's dynamic couldn't be further from the prickly frenemies Industry viewers have grown to know in Harper and Yasmin. The two are the picture of ease, the kind that comes from working intimately together for five years. And since Harper and Yasmin share fewer scenes this season, due to Harper no longer working at Pierpoint, both agree that they were thrilled at the chance to take on this meaty argument.
"There might be a few episodes [this season] where there's no interaction between the two characters," Abela said. "So when we do get those moments, there's also a certain amount of adrenaline. You know, 'I'm excited to do this scene.'"
SEE ALSO: 'Industry's Harry Lawtey breaks down Robert's ayahuasca trip: 'This is a big swing'Myha'la added: "More than anything, we live for those moments. Actors are like, 'Finally, I get to sink my teeth into this and be gross.' I feel like everybody's been waiting for this moment [between Yasmin and Harper]. They get a taste of it at the end of Season 1. But that's small potatoes compared to what they get in this scene."
The scene is a culmination of the tension that's been building for three seasons between these characters, with everything from issues of class to Harper and Yasmin's constantly simmering love triangle with Robert Spearing (Harry Lawtey) finally roaring to the front. "So much of the show is subtext, so it's great when the subtext becomes text," Industry co-creator Konrad Kay told Mashable in a separate call with co-creator Mickey Down. "Suddenly, there are no lies in that scene. There's no evasion."
Myha'la and Marisa Abela in "Industry." Credit: Nick Strasburg / HBOAs every bit of Yasmin and Harper's resentment and anger surfaces, both parties continue to lob insults while desperately trying to prove that they don't care about what the other is saying or doing. But of course, they do — and understanding that hurt proved key to both Myha'la and Abela's understanding of the scene.
"We had conversations with Mickey and Konrad about what exactly about what had happened hurt them the most," Abela said. "It's very personal when you talk about how someone has hurt you, and allowing us to evolve with these characters for as long as we have, we know better than anyone what it is that Yasmin holds dear about Harper's relationship and why this feels like a betrayal."
Another topic of conversation between the actors and showrunners became the literal one-two punch that ends the scene, when Yasmin slaps Harper, and Harper slaps back. Originally, Harper wasn't scripted as slapping Yasmin, but Myha'la was adamant that she return the blow.
SEE ALSO: How 'Industry' put Rishi through hell in its 'most intense' episode yet"I was like, 'Ain't no way this bitch is gonna put her hands on me, and I'm not gonna hit her back,'" Myha'la laughed.
She continued: "I was very grateful that Mickey and Konrad allowed me to do that, because that was a serious conversation over a few days where I was like, 'Guys, please, I just want to smack her. Please.' So much culture is wrapped up in that. Because we raise our voices and we say the worst things, but then as soon as you break the physical barrier, we're throwing hands. Period. Point blank. And if Harper's supposed to be from New York, what are we talking about?"
The double slaps already make for a powerful button to the argument, but Industry takes the pain of the scene one step further by ending the episode on a flashback to Harper and Yasmin in the hours following Charles' death. Harper comforts Yasmin through her tears, and the two share a few laughs at the expense of Charles. When Harper puts her arm around Yasmin, we're seeing this duo at their closest, yet we know tragedy is just months away. It's a heartbreaking echo to the start of the episode, where we see Harper cover for Yasmin without a second's hesitation.
Myha'la and Marisa Abela in "Industry." Credit: Nick Strasburg / HBO"The bookending of that episode is about us taking Harper and Yasmin to the nadir of their relationship, where they're slapping each other," Down told Mashable. "This is the end for them in terms of their personal relationship, so let's also show the point where their relationship was at its most pure, when Harper was doing something for Yasmin that was probably one of the most selfless things she's done."
Later, Yasmin will go on to believe that Harper helping her at her most vulnerable moment was just another attempt to gain control. But for Myha'la and Abela, that's not the case.
SEE ALSO: 40 shows we can't wait to see this fall"It feels like life and death," Myha'la said. "In that moment when Harper finds out what's happened to Yasmin, she's looking in the face of her friend who is terrified, like completely undone, and she clearly needs help. There's no question about whether or not I, as your friend, am going to help you. The situation is too dire for Harper to be like, 'How can I use this tonight?' It's just not about that. This is not business-related. This is purely about our friendship, and that's it."
Abela added that Harper's help in that moment made her a calming presence for Yasmin over the course of the season. "The second Harper walks into a room, [Yasmin] can at least breathe a bit of fresh air, knowing that there's someone in this room that understands what she's going through, even if she can't share the burden," Abela said. "I can see her, and she can see me."
Now, though, the argument has forced Harper and Yasmin to see each other in a different way, with all their insecurities and animosity laid bare. In a show that's built on backstabbing and using people to get ahead, perhaps that blinding clarity is its own kind of gift. Although for Harper and Yasmin, who are losing each other not just as friends but as support systems, that gift comes at much too high a cost.
One of the many great joys of Industry Season 3 is the soundtrack. The series dips not once but twice into the discography of the Pet Shop Boys, with both needle drops delivering standout musical moments.
SEE ALSO: 'Industry' stars Myha'la and Marisa Abela break down Harper and Yasmin's big fight: 'This is the end for them'The first instance comes at the end of episode 1, with "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)" playfully undercutting Lumi's disastrous IPO. (Lumi did not, in fact, make lots of money.) Then, in episode 6, the Pet Shop Boys' cover of "Always on My Mind" accompanies a tender flashback to Harper Stern (Myha'la) helping Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) handle the complicated aftermath of her father Charles' (Adam Levy) death.
The desire for Industry to include a double whammy of Pet Shop Boys — triple, if you count episode 6's use of Electronic's "Getting Away With It," featuring vocals from Neil Tennant and a bass line performed by Chris Lowe — began with the duo's 2022 Glastonbury set. Industry creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay were in attendance, along with Industry music supervisor Ollie White.
"They did the most amazing headline set on one of the smaller stages there. It was so explosive," White told Mashable. "We were like, 'They've still got it. They're still relevant. We can get them on Industry. Let's do it.'"
"Let's make lots of money." Credit: Simon Ridgway / HBOIn addition to still performing live around the globe, the decades-spanning group's music is more ubiquitous in film and TV than ever. Limited series It's a Sin took its name from the band's 1987 hit. Saltburn positioned "Rent" as a classist karaoke putdown, while All of Us Strangers employed "Always on My Mind" in devastating fashion. In Industry, the Pet Shop Boys' electro-pop sounds find a perfect home, fitting right in with composer Nathan Micay's synth-heavy score. It's almost a surprise their work hasn't popped up on the show before, but that's due in part to the show's own musical journey.
"For Season 1, the main aim of the music was to set up the youngsters living in London, what it's like for them to be in London, and also represent what music they would be listening to as well," White said. "As we've gone through Season 2 and 3, the older characters are playing a much more prominent role, so we're finding music that can represent them as well. "
Following the heavier, COVID-centric Season 2, Down and Kay also wanted the show to feel more "fun, effervescent, and bombastic," Down told Mashable. Pet Shop Boys and many of the show's other music selections — from Wu-Tang Clan to Duran Duran — fit the bill.
SEE ALSO: 'Industry's Harry Lawtey breaks down Robert's ayahuasca trip: 'This is a big swing'"These are songs that make you want to punch the air," Down told Mashable of the Pet Shop Boys tracks that made it into the show. "They're songs that I've listened to thousands of times each."
Down and Kay always knew they wanted to include "Opportunities" and "Always on My Mind" at these specific moments in Season 3. However, getting the rights to the latter proved a bit more challenging, as more people own it. (Originally recorded by Brenda Lee, the song has been covered by Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson, in addition to the Pet Shop Boys.)
Since Industry doesn't have the highest music budget on TV, White wasn't sure he would be able to clear it. He chose a backup song for the end credits instead: Electronic's "Getting Away With It," which still plays in the episode following Harper and Yasmin's blowout argument. However, towards the end of the editing process, Industry was able to find the budget to include "Always on My Mind," making it the final song cleared for the season.
"You were always on my mind." Credit: Nick Strasburg / HBOThe last sequence of episode 6 is already a knockout, as we transition from Harper and Yasmin's fight to a flashback of one of their closest moments. But the music choices here elevate it even further, with Down calling them "the best six minutes of music the show has done." "Getting Away With It" — a nod to Yasmin and Harper covering up Charles' death — kicks in right as Yasmin slaps Harper, punctuating a painful beat with a bit of a wry twist. The song accompanies us as we transition to the flashback on Charles' yacht, where it plays as part of a diegetic DJ set onboard the boat.
Most of the yacht scenes forgo Micay's score completely, instead using a set mixed by White and Industry music editor Dan Elms in order to evoke the atmosphere of nonstop partying onboard. When you hear "Getting Away With It" fading into "Always on My Mind," you get the exact same rush of excitement you'd feel if a DJ played a song you really loved at a party. "That's right," Industry seems to be saying, "you're getting even more Pet Shop Boys goodness!"
On top of just being a great song — Kay described it as a "desert island disc" of his — "Always on My Mind" serves as the perfect wrap-up to an episode that puts Yasmin through the ringer.
"'Always on My Mind' is a song about not expressing your love when you could have expressed it, and that person being gone," Kay told Mashable. "Obviously, Yasmin has a very fraught relationship with her dad, and he's a monster. But one of the disgusting ironies and true human ironies is that she also loves him, and he's dead."
Overall, though, Industry's use of "Always on My Mind" really comes back to the push and pull between Harper and Yasmin. These are two women who have helped one another through some of the worst times in their lives, but who have also used each other and cut each other to pieces time and time again. Episode 6 sees them at their closest and most distant, and "Always on My Mind" captures both the love they once had for each other and the fact that they may never express that love again.
"It's an elegy for Yasmin's friendship with Harper," Kay said. "And after that argument, it all goes to a pretty irrevocable place."

For once, the term of the week on Beauty TikTok isn't the name of an algorithmically promoted physical insecurity. Instead, it's a rare trend that celebrates the imperfections of an unmodified lip: It's a Beetlejuice lip.
But what, exactly, is a Beetlejuice lip? In a video that's garnered over 41 million views and 4 million likes, beauty creator Adrianna Kalisz introduces the two-toned lipstick look. As "Say My Name" from Beetlejuice The Musical plays in the background, Kalisz applies chartreuse green eye paint to her lips. Then she scrunches up her mouth and carefully dusts black eyeshadow powder into the creases. She quirks up her lips in a smile, revealing a black-on-green zebra pattern — an application method previously posted and coined "zebra lips" by Portuguese beauty creator Luara Reisinger — and celebrates the success of the look, crediting Reisinger in her caption.
SEE ALSO: TikTok is criticizing young girls who shop at Sephora. They're missing the point. The bold look caught on. A flurry of other beauty creators replicated Kalisz's video, but something quickly became clear: If a creator has lip filler, the technique either turns out sloppy or doesn't work at all. The creator needs deep, natural lip creases for the eye shadow to settle around and create defined contrast. Lip filler smooths out those necessary creases.
The most popular example of Beetlejuice lips gone wrong is makeup influencer Jeffree Star's attempt, which received over 25 million views and nearly 2 million likes. Rather than creating dramatic stripes, his lips remained a powdery black. After the method didn't work for him, Star said, "Um, have we been duped? What the fuck." The top comment on his post reads, "I think it's cuz you have lip filler so your lip creases aren't as deep and obvious!" Star replied, "Hahaha facts."
Tweet may have been deletedViewers used to seeing creators normalize fillers and injectables — and promote an unattainable beauty standard — relished this turning of the tables. A London-based makeup artist posted a video stating, "My new guilty pleasure is watching beauty influencers with too much lip filler try Beetlejuice lips." It racked up nearly 9 million views and over 1 million likes, suggesting a dissatisfaction with the status quo.
Robbie Roe, a 28-year-old graphic designer and touring musician, decided to post a similar video after seeing Star's video. "Over the last year especially, I've been noticing a lot more beauty influencers getting a lot of work done, and creating this unattainable look, and then using it to sell products to people," Roe told Mashable.
In the video they say, "There's something kind of beautiful about there being a beauty trend that's only for people who don't have fillers … Maybe this lays the groundwork for more beauty trends that utilize the totally natural creases and lines of our faces." It received nearly 4 million views and over 430,000 likes.
Roe is right. Minimally invasive procedures, including Botox and filler, are on the rise. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, minimally invasive procedures grew by 7 percent in 2023, with over 25 million procedures performed. Dermal fillers grew by 4 percent, to 3.2 million. The report notes that Botox is so normalized in American culture that "patients mention it as casually as running an errand to the store or post office."
It's the "weird" beauty trends embracing the natural folds and contours of the face that push back against the suffocating norms. The normalization of these procedures is due in part to influencers documenting their surgical journeys on platforms like TikTok. In 2022, NBC News uncovered that influencers, including those on TikTok, are offered cheap cosmetic procedures in exchange for promotion, creating a dangerous plastic surgery feedback loop. Business of Fashion recently cautioned against the "casualizing" of injectables that happens on the platform, citing the dangers of unlicensed practitioners, counterfeit Botox, and botched procedures.
The surge in injectables and fillers isn't just risky from a medical perspective, it's also creating an unrealistic standard of "natural beauty," where the bulk of public-facing figure's beauty maintenance happens under the needle or knife rather than with the products they hawk on TikTok.
But in this moment, the "weird" beauty trends embracing the natural folds and contours of the face push back against the suffocating norms. Beetlejuice lips treat makeup as an art form rather than an obligation.
Tweet may have been deletedLast year, makeup artist Netta Szekely dusted gold eyeshadow over the wrinkles surrounding a model's eyes to the tune of 7.8 million views. Similarly, viral makeup creator Mei Pang experimented with layering color over the crinkles on her nose, earning nearly 16 million views and 2 million likes. Kalisz reposted her own version of the "Botox-repellent" eye makeup. Just last week, TikTok creator Buket Berçe Kobal pushed Beetlejuice lips even further, adding their own nose scrunch component.
"[The ubiquity of plastic surgery on TikTok] upsets me, because people have such unique features," said Roe. But Kalisz's corner of TikTok gives them hope. "There's another subset of makeup TikTok that's specific to those unique features, whether that is creases, acne, or hooded eyes.
