Amazon MGM Studios will no longer release Luca Guadagnino's buzzy Sam Altman biopic Artificial, Variety reported Friday.
SEE ALSO: 'Toy Story 5' opening weekend box office to set franchise recordThe film, which stars Andrew Garfield as the OpenAI CEO and Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk, focuses on Altman's firing (and later rehiring) from OpenAI in 2023. In February of 2026, OpenAI and Amazon announced a strategic multi-year partnership, which includes Amazon investing $50 billion in Altman's company.
According to The New York Times, the team behind Artificial was shocked at Amazon MGM's decision. Guadagnino has worked with the studio before, including on Challengers and After the Hunt. The New York Times reported that Amazon MGM had previously been supportive of Artificial, spending $40 million on it and preparing it for a 2027 SXSW release and potential awards run.
"We have the utmost respect and admiration for Luca Guadagnino as an award-winning filmmaker — not to mention a longstanding relationship that we hope to continue," an Amazon spokesperson told Variety. "We believe that Artificial will be better served if it were released by a different studio and are working closely with the filmmaking team to find the film a new home."
The New York Times reported that Artificial screened last week to potential buyers, including Neon, A24, Focus Features, Netflix, and Warner Bros.' Clockwork. However, no one has snapped up Artificial yet.
Disclosure: Ziff Davis, Mashable’s parent company, in April 2025 filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging it infringed Ziff Davis copyrights in training and operating its AI systems.
George Lucas is popping out of his semi-retirement for a role in a blockbuster franchise. No, he's not returning to his roots with Star Wars. Instead, he's diving into Illumination's Despicable Me and Minions universe.
SEE ALSO: 2026 Summer movie preview: Every film you need to know about nowOn June 19, the AP reported that Lucas has a voice role in the upcoming Minions and Monsters, about the Minions trying to hunt down the perfect monster for their own kaiju movie. Given that the film takes place partly in 1920s Hollywood, it makes sense that Illumination would seek out a cameo from a legendary director. But how did they land on Lucas, who stepped back from blockbuster filmmaking after selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012?
In an interview with Collider, Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri revealed that Lucas got involved in Minions and Monsters due to his own minions fandom.
"I had this privilege of meeting George about two years ago, and what led to my meeting him is how much he loves Illumination movies, and specifically Despicable Me, and even more specifically, the Minions," Meledandri told Collider.
From there, Meledandri wondered if he could bring Lucas aboard for the latest Minions-centric film.
"An idea for a character came up out of the story, and so I said to [director] Pierre [Coffin], who co-wrote the movie with Brian Lynch, and Bill Ryan, who produces with me on the film, and I just said, 'Well, what if we could get George?'" Meledandri recalled. "And they're like, 'Are you kidding me?' I had no idea, but I got such a fast yes."
Lucas recorded his lines with Coffin, who also serves as the primary voice of the Minions, in Paris. But according to Meledandri, Lucas's role in the world of the Minions may not be done.
"I saw him recently, and he's already talking to me about the role he wants to do next in the next Minions movie," Meledandri said.
Toy Story 5 ruled the world at this weekend's box office.
SEE ALSO: 'Toy Story 5' review: AI toys are the hook, not the heart of this comedyAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Pixar's latest is on track for a $160 million opening weekend at the domestic box office. That would make it the biggest opening weekend of 2026, beating out The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's $131.7 million three-day weekend gross. (The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opened on a Wednesday, so its five-day Easter weekend gross totaled $190.8 million.)
A $160 million opening for Toy Story 5 would also set a new franchise record for Toy Story opening weekends. Currently, Toy Story 4 holds that crown, with a $120.9 million opening in June of 2019.
Toy Story 5 also came close to breaking three other domestic box office records this weekend: that of Pixar's highest opening weekend, its highest opening day, and the highest opening day for an animated feature. All those titles will continue to belong to The Incredibles 2, which scored a $72.2 million opening day and a $182.6 million opening weekend. Toy Story 5 brought in $71 million on its opening day, making it Pixar's second best domestic opening day ever.
The opening bodes well for the latest film in Pixar's longest-running franchise. Both Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 grossed over $1 billion globally, and Toy Story 5 could be on track to hit that milestone as well. If it does, it will join five other Pixar films — all sequels — in the $1 billion club. In addition to the past two Toy Story movies, those sequels are Finding Dory, The Incredibles 2, and Inside Out 2.

Live stream Belgium vs. Iran in the 2026 FIFA World Cup for free.
The 2026 World Cup continues with one of the of the biggest days of the tournament so far.
Today, June 21, sees action from Uruguay, Spain, and Belgium, with four group games in total. There are some intriguing matchups — not to mention world-class players — so we recommend catching as much of today's soccer as possible.
The action kicks off from 12 p.m. ET. We've broken down the details for you below. Here's what you need to know to tune in live today.
FIFA World Cup schedule today: June 21Group H: Spain vs. Saudi Arabia (Atlanta Stadium) — kickoff at 12 p.m. ET
Group G: Belgium vs. Iran (Los Angeles Stadium) — kickoff at 3 p.m. ET
Group H: Uruguay vs. Cape Verde (Miami Stadium) — kickoff at 6 p.m. ET
Group G: New Zealand vs. Egypt (BC Place Vancouver) — kickoff at 9 p.m. ET
Spain are European Champions and entered the World Cup as one of the favorites to win it. They came unstuck in their opening game against underdogs Cape Vedre, failing to score and having to settle for a draw — one of the biggest talking points of the tournament so far. Not even superstar player Yamal could make the difference. Fans would expect the Spanish to beat Saudi Arabia, but fans would have also expected the same thing against Cape Vedre. Live coverage will be on FOX and Fox One. Peacock will carry the live Spanish-language coverage.
Watch Belgium vs. IranBelgium have a solid squad of experienced players — including Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Leandro Trossard — but they had a frustrating first-round game with Egypt that ended 1-1. Iran were also held to a draw in an unexpectedly exciting game against New Zealand. This next game is one to watch, with both teams looking to put three points on the board and advance to the knockout stage. Belgium are considered the stronger team but Iran have the capability to sting bigger opponents. Live coverage will be on FS1 and Fox One. Peacock will carry the live Spanish-language coverage.
Watch Uruguay vs. Cape VerdeUruguay had a miserable opening game, drawing 1-1 with Saudi Arabia. Can the original World Cup winners improve in their second outing? Before the tournament started, the smart money would have been on Uruguay sailing past World Cup first-timers Cape Verde, but Cape Verde's performance against Spain was nothing short of incredible. They had a near-impenetrable defense, bolstered by a legend-making performance from their goalkeeper, Vozinha. Fans are excited to see if the underdogs can do it again. Live coverage will be on FS1 and Fox One. Peacock will carry the live Spanish-language coverage.
Watch New Zealand vs. EgyptNew Zealand are also underdogs. Indeed, this is just the Kiwis' third World Cup appearance, but they showed grit in their opening 2-2 draw with Iran. And while Egypt have also played relatively few World Cups — this is just their fourth time in 90 years — they have potential right now following a semi-final finish at the African Cup of Nations and leadership from the one and only Mo Salah. Live coverage will be on ET, FS1 and Fox One. Peacock will carry the live Spanish-language coverage.

If you're dating in your 40s, some online dating sites and apps are a better bet than others, especially if you want to date within your age range. While most dating apps like Tinder and Hinge tend to be more popular with the 30-and-under crowd, dating websites attract a slightly older demographic, one more interested in substantive connection than fleeting attraction.
That's where eharmony comes in. The site has been around for over 25 years, and boasts somewhere between 38 and 45 million registered users (according to DatingAdvice), and unlike the fast-paced, dopamine-driven apps, eharmony encourages its users to take their time, emphasizing compatibility through a proprietary personality quiz that the site then uses to assign all of your potential matches with a "compatibility score" between 60 and 140, with a higher score indicating that you have more in common.
Curious if the site is right for you? Here are its pros and cons for daters over 40:
Opens in a new window Credit: eharmony eharmony Learn More eharmony benefitsFavorable user demographicsThe major benefit of a site like eharmony for older daters is its age breakdown of users. Fully 40 percent of its active users are between the ages of 30 and 39, making it the largest on-site demographic, closely followed by the 40+ crowd at 35 percent of the total user base, while the under-30 crowd makes up just 25 percent of the site's users.
But it gets even better. According to independent research by SwipeStats, the average age of an eharmony user is 34. Eharmony told Mashable that users are 51 percent women and 49 percent men.
SEE ALSO: The best hookup apps for 2026: I swiped until my thumb hurt Compatibility-focused matchmakingOn most dating sites these days, the "matchmaking" process is little more than a game of "hot or not," where users are given a small handful of photos and a few seconds of time to make a decision. That's not how eharmony operates. All of its users, including paid subscribers and free accounts, complete a comprehensive personality questionnaire known on the site as the Compatibility Quiz.
Based on extensive psychological research and eharmony's own matchmaking experiences, this quiz aims to classify people around four basic questions:
What characterizes us?
What is our driving force?
How do we organize everyday life?
How do we communicate?
Once it has this information, it can more accurately guess who you will likely vibe with and who you might butt heads with, all based on these fundamental differences in character.
It might not be a perfect system, of course, but it does offer a needed counterweight to the "picture first" approach of more superficial dating sites. If you're in your 40s and eager for connection, it's nice to see, at a glance, who is likely to appreciate your communication style or life goals.
A commitment to dating transparencyOne glaring truth about most online dating sites is that they lack transparency. It keep its matchmaking algorithms hidden, for example, or they remain tight-lipped about its user demographics or success rates. Well, eharmony takes the opposite approach, and it's refreshing.
Head to its Data and Research section, for example, and you'll see it regularly releases reports about both online dating in general, always sourced from top-notch independent researchers like Pew, or about its own users in particular. Recent reports include subjects like "masculinity's impact on dating dynamics" or the topics Gen Z and millennial daters are most likely to lie about in their dating profiles.
These reports aren't just fun facts or curiosities you might be interested in; they're valuable insights into modern dating dynamics, and a helpful tool for those eager to improve their dating game.
eharmony drawbacksPaid membership requiredOne obvious drawback to eharmony is that, unlike Tinder or Hinge, for example, a paid membership is all but mandatory to actually use the website. With a free account, you can fill out your profile and take the eharmony personality quiz, but you can't view other daters' photos or send them substantive messages, so you're really required to pull out your credit card.
Membership costs vary by location, but if you're in the United States, expect to pay between $20 and $65 per month, depending on your subscription tier and duration. On the plus side, eharmony also regularly runs promotional sales events, often up to 40 percent off its usual price, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a good deal.
Inactive accountsThis could be construed as both a pro and a con, since it indicates a lot of eharmony users actually end up pairing off with someone, but the fact nonetheless remains that a lot of its registered accounts are inactive.
While its own on-site statistics show close to 45 million registered accounts, there are only about 10 million active users at any given moment, and those tend to be concentrated in large urban areas. Worse still, because it locks its geo-search functions to paid members, you won't be able to know, in advance, if there are a lot of active eharmony users in your area, which definitely won't be an issue if you happen to live near a large metropolitan area, but could be a serious problem if you live somewhere a bit more rural.
Best eharmony alternatives for daters over 40Facebook DatingIf you don't like the idea of paying for a dating site but still want the benefits of a massive dating pool, consider giving Facebook Dating a try. It boasts more than 20 million daily active users, and has become particularly popular with older Millennials suffering from dating app burnout.
Because it's separate from your regular Facebook account, Facebook Dating offers a discreet way to survey your local single scene, and if you're active on Facebook, you can even opt to find people who share your interests or with whom you have Facebook Groups in common.
SEE ALSO: Is AdultFriendFinder safe to use? What a cybersecurity expert says. HingeIf you can't bear to part with the app-based dating experience but still want a more mature, substantive option, Hinge is still a great choice. Its approach to matchmaking, through prompt responses, is similar to eharmony's personality-first ethos. Its newest feature, Signals, seeks to highlight users who have exhibited thoughtful dating behavior. , This will likely help to discourage the low-effort, ghosting culture that so many over-40 daters are running away from.
House of the Dragon Season 3 is here, and you know what that means: It's time to take a climb into the very tangled branches of the Targaryen family tree.
Over the first two seasons of House of the Dragon, some of these branches have been pruned. (RIP to the many Targs who've perished in this bloody show.) However, Season 2 also added its fair share of new offshoots, further complicating the knotted web between Houses Targaryen, Velaryon, and Hightower. If you're looking for a refresher on that web as you head into Season 3, we've got you covered.
Below, you'll find the Targaryen family tree as it stands heading into House of the Dragon Season 3, as well as a rundown of the characters and how they connect.
Credit: Ian Moore / Mashable Which Targaryens have died since Season 2?There were two key deaths in the Targaryen family in Season 2: one on the Greens' side and one on the Blacks'.
Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's (Emma D'Arcy) camp lost Princess Rhaenys (Eve Best), also known as the Queen Who Never Was. Meanwhile, King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Queen Helaena (Phia Saban) lost their young son Jaehaerys when gold cloak Blood (Sam C. Wilson) and rat catcher Cheese (Mark Stobbart) assassinated him on Prince Daemon's (Matt Smith) orders.
There are still plenty of Targaryens left standing, though. Here's who to watch out for in Season 3.
The Targaryen family tree: Rhaenyra, Daemon, and their children Matt Smith, Phoebe Campbell, Emma D'Arcy, Harry Collett, and Bethany Antonia in "House of the Dragon." Credit: Composite: Mashable / Images: HBORhaenyra heads up the Team Black branch of the Targaryen family tree, with her husband/uncle Daemon by her side. (It was touch and go for a minute in Season 2, but after a life-changing study abroad trip to Harrenhal, complete with witches and visions, Daemon is finally ready to accept Rhaenyra as his queen.)
Their two young sons, Aegon and Viserys, are on their way to Pentos for protection after a brief pit stop in the Vale. However, Rhaenyra and Daemon's children from their prior marriages are still in Westeros and locked in on Rhaenyra's fight for the throne.
Rhaenyra's son Jacaerys (Harry Collett) and Daemon's daughter Baela (Bethany Antonia) are both dragonriders. Daemon's other daughter, Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell), doesn't have a dragon, which is why she was sent off as Aegon and Viserys' guardian. However, when they went to Pentos, she remained behind in the Vale, hoping to tame its wild dragon Sheepstealer. Could Rhaenyra be welcoming a new dragonrider to her side soon?
The Targaryen family tree: Alicent Hightower and her children Tom Glynn-Carney, Olivia Cooke, Phia Saban, and Ewan Mitchell in "House of the Dragon." Credit: Composite: Mashable / Images: HBODowager Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) remains the matriarch of Team Green, although she's growing increasingly regretful about her role in the war for succession. (So regretful, in fact, that she's offered to surrender the Iron Throne to Rhaenyra.) She had four children with the late King Viserys (Paddy Considine).
The eldest, Aegon, remains King of Westeros. His younger brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) attempted to kill him in a dragon dogfight at the Battle of Rook's Rest, and once Aegon recovered from his worst injuries, he fled King's Landing with the help of Larys Strong (Matthew Needham). Now Aemond is Prince Regent, and Alicent is trying her best to get herself and her daughter Helaena out of harm's way.
Alicent's youngest son Daeron has yet to appear in House of the Dragon, as he's been a ward of House Hightower in Oldtown for the past few years. However, Season 2 offered up a glimpse of his dragon Tessarion wheeling over the Hightower army, so expect him to enter the fray soon.
The Hightower family tree: Otto, Gwayne, and Ormund James Norton, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, and Freddie Fox in "House of the Dragon." Credit: Composite: Mashable / Images: HBOIn addition to Alicent, the rest of House Hightower continues to be a major player in House of the Dragon. Her father, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), former hand of the King, has wound up in a jail cell — although we don't yet know where or why. Elsewhere, Alicent's brother Gwayne (Freddie Fox) has been traipsing around the Seven Kingdoms with Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), a nightmare we wouldn't wish on even our worst enemies.
House of the Dragon Season 3 also introduces a new member of the Hightower family: Lord Ormund (James Norton), head of House Hightower. His late father Hobert (Steffan Rhodri) was Otto's oldest brother, making Ormund Alicent and Gwayne's cousin. Daeron is his ward.
The Velaryon family tree: Corlys and his sons Alyn and Addam Steve Toussaint, Abubakar Salim, and Clinton Liberty in "House of the Dragon." Credit: Composite: Mashable / Images: HBORhaenyra's Hand is Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), also known as the Sea Snake due to his naval prowess. Over the course of House of the Dragon, he's lost his wife Rhaenys, as well as their children Laena (Nanna Blondell) and Laenor (John Macmillan).
However, Season 2 revealed that Laena and Laenor weren't Corlys' only descendants. He also has two bastard sons, Alyn of Hull (Abubakar Salim) and Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty). Their mother Marilda, unseen in the show, was a shipwright.
While Corlys didn't truly acknowledge Alyn and Addam prior to Season 2, the pair are now a much more prominent part of his life — and the show. Alyn is a notable sailor in Corlys' fleet, and Addam became a dragonrider. Thanks to his Valyrian blood, he now rides Seasmoke, Laenor's old dragon.
The dragonseeds: Addam, Ulf the White, and Hugh Hammer Kieran Bew, Tom Bennett, and Clinton Liberty in "House of the Dragon." Credit: Composite: Mashable / Images: HBOAddam isn't the only new dragonrider to join Rhaenyra's ranks in Season 2. Smallfolk Ulf the White (Tom Bennett) and Hugh Hammer (Kieran Bew) also claimed dragons. Ulf rides Silverwing, the dragon of Rhaenyra's grandmother Alysanne, while Hugh rides Vermithor, the dragon of Rhaenyra's grandfather Jaehaerys. The pair, like Addam, are bastards of Valyrian blood, earning them the nickname of "dragonseeds." While they haven't been legitimized as Targaryens, they will certainly have a large role to play in the battles to come.

Welcome to your guide to Pips, the latest game in the New York Times catalogue.
Released in August 2025, Pips puts a unique spin on dominoes, creating a fun single-player experience that could become your next daily gaming habit.
Currently, if you're stuck, the game only offers to reveal the entire puzzle, forcing you to move on to the next difficulty level and start over. However, we have you covered! Below are piecemeal answers that will serve as hints so that you can find your way through each difficulty level.
How to play PipsIf you've ever played dominoes, you'll have a passing familiarity with how Pips is played. As we've shared in our previous hints stories for Pips, the tiles, like dominoes, are placed vertically or horizontally and connect with each other. The main difference between a traditional game of dominoes and Pips is the color-coded conditions you have to address. The touching tiles don't necessarily have to match.
SEE ALSO: Wordle today: Answer, hints for June 21, 2026The conditions you have to meet are specific to the color-coded spaces. For example, if it provides a single number, every side of a tile in that space must add up to the number provided. It is possible — and common — for only half a tile to be within a color-coded space.
Here are common examples you'll run into across the difficulty levels:
Number: All the pips in this space must add up to the number.
Equal: Every domino half in this space must be the same number of pips.
Not Equal: Every domino half in this space must have a completely different number of pips.
Less than: Every domino half in this space must add up to less than the number.
Greater than: Every domino half in this space must add up to more than the number.
If an area does not have any color coding, it means there are no conditions on the portions of dominoes within those spaces.

If you like playing daily word games like Wordle, then Hurdle is a great game to add to your routine.
There are five rounds to the game. The first round sees you trying to guess the word, with correct, misplaced, and incorrect letters shown in each guess. If you guess the correct answer, it'll take you to the next hurdle, providing the answer to the last hurdle as your first guess. This can give you several clues or none, depending on the words. For the final hurdle, every correct answer from previous hurdles is shown, with correct and misplaced letters clearly shown.
An important note is that the number of times a letter is highlighted from previous guesses does necessarily indicate the number of times that letter appears in the final hurdle.

It's now the First Quarter, which means the Moon is half full, and there's plenty surface area illuminated to spot features.
What is today’s Moon phase? As of Sunday, June 21, the Moon phase is First Quarter. Tonight, 54% of the moon will be be lit up, according to NASA's Daily Moon Guide.
With just your naked eye, tonight you'll be able to see the Mares Fecunditatis, Serenitatis and Crisium. With binoculars, you'll also catch a glimpse of the Endymion Crater, Posidonius Crater, and the Mare Nectaris. If you have a telescope, this will help you see all this plus the Linne Crater, the Descartes Highlands, and the Rupes Altai.
When is the next Full Moon? The next Full Moon will take place on June 29.
What are Moon phases?According to NASA, the Moon completes one orbit around Earth in about 29.5 days, moving through eight recognised phases along the way. While the same side of the Moon always faces our planet, the amount of its surface lit by the Sun changes as it travels around Earth. As a result, we see the Moon appear in different shapes over the course of a month, from slender crescents and half moons to a bright Full Moon. This repeating sequence of phases is known as the lunar cycle.
New Moon - The Moon is between Earth and the sun, so the side we see is dark (in other words, it's invisible to the eye).
Waxing Crescent - A small sliver of light appears on the right side (Northern Hemisphere).
First Quarter - Half of the Moon is lit on the right side. It looks like a half-Moon.
Waxing Gibbous - More than half is lit up, but it’s not quite full yet.
Full Moon - The whole face of the Moon is illuminated and fully visible.
Waning Gibbous - The Moon starts losing light on the right side. (Northern Hemisphere)
Third Quarter (or Last Quarter) - Another half-Moon, but now the left side is lit.
Waning Crescent - A thin sliver of light remains on the left side before going dark again.
