Anthropic has announced plans to eventually release a public version of Mythos, its AI model with advanced cybersecurity capabilities. First, the AI company needs to develop adequate safeguards, which, by its own admission, don't yet exist.
The company revealed in an update to Project Glasswing, its limited-access security program, that it intends to expand access to U.S. and allied governments before pursuing a broader public release of "Mythos-class models" in the "near future."
As reported by The Register, Anthropic was candid about the timeline's uncertainty, stating that no company, including itself, has built safeguards sufficient to prevent the model from being misused. Even so, Anthropic said in a related blog post that it believes "Mythos-level models will become widely available in the next 6-12 months."
Are you an Apple superfan? Enter Mashable’s Big Guessing Game to win prizes.
SEE ALSO: Anthropic's Mythos is already finding security flaws in Apple softwareClaude Mythos was initially revealed in April. Anthropic said that the model succeeded at generating working exploits 72.4 percent of the time during testing — compared to just above zero percent for Claude Opus 4.6. In those reports, Anthropic researchers with no formal security training reportedly asked Mythos to hunt for vulnerabilities overnight and woke up to complete, functional exploits.
Since then, the model has scanned over a thousand open-source projects and identified more than 23,000 flaws, including more than 6,000 rated high or critical severity. Among them was a vulnerability in the wolfSSL cryptography library, used by billions of devices, that would have allowed attackers to forge certificates and impersonate legitimate websites. It has since been patched.
As AI tools get better at finding exploits, they've sparked a zero-day bug discovery crisis, with some bug bounty programs shutting down entirely. Open-source maintainers have reportedly asked Anthropic to slow its disclosure rate, saying the flood of bug reports exceeds their capacity to address them.
Anthropic's suggested solution to the capacity crunch is, of course, more AI. The Claude Mythos system card predicts that AI tools will ultimately benefit cybersecurity defenders, though Anthropic also notes that hackers may have an advantage for the time being.

But to see a brand-new 2026 TV on sale for 40% off is a bit more surprising. Nevertheless, Hisense is delivering the best TV deal of the season.

The 2026 U7 is an iterative upgrade from last year's model. It features an improved anti-glare coating to keep your picture crisp and clear despite overhead lights or the afternoon sun blaring in, as well as an enhanced AI processor that can analyze scenes in real time and make auto-adjustments to color, contrast, and detail. Otherwise, it still offers the same 165Hz refresh rate, 2.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos sound, up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, and the Google TV with Gemini interface.
Hisense says the U7 delivers "Mini LED performance typically reserved for higher price tiers," and we can certainly get behind that notion. The global RAM shortage has forced many PC makers to increase their laptop prices over the past few months. Now, it's Dell's turn.
Select configurations of the new Dell XPS 14 have gotten up to 31 percent more expensive since its launch at the start of the year. Mashable first noticed the price changes in mid-May and confirmed them with a Dell spokesperson.
"We’re managing this environment in real time, applying lessons from prior cycles and continuing to offer customers value," the spokesperson said. "We’re differentiated by our scale, go-to-market model and long-standing supplier relationships."
The starting price of the XPS 14 used to be $1,599.99 on Dell's website, making it slightly cheaper than Apple's M5 MacBook Pro. But it now costs $1,889.99 — a $290 jump. That's a steep admission fee for a Windows laptop with an entry-level Intel Core Ultra 5 325 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of solid-state drive (SSD) storage.
Are you an Apple superfan? Enter Mashable’s Big Guessing Game to win prizes.
SEE ALSO: Lenovo and Acer quietly raise prices on premium Chromebooks by up to $250A next-tier XPS 14 with the slightly faster Core Ultra 7 355 CPU now costs $1,989.99 with the same amount of memory and storage. It used to cost $1,699.99, marking another $290 increase.
In the most dramatic change, an upgraded XPS 14 with the premium Core Ultra X7 358H CPU, Intel Arc B390 graphics, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and an OLED touchscreen display now costs a whopping $2,879.99, representing a $680 bump from its $2,199.99 launch price.
Most prices for the larger Dell XPS 16 appear to be holding steady, though Mashable noticed that the base model was listed for $2,279.99 on May 21 — a $240 increase from its initial starting price of $2,039.99. Dell was selling it for that original lower number by the time of publication on May 26.
Dell re-launched its XPS laptop brand at CES 2026. Credit: Haley Henschel / MashableDell announced at CES 2026 in January that it was resurrecting the XPS laptop brand, exactly one year after it tried to pull off a questionable Apple-y rebrand. Since its Q1 release, the XPS 14 has earned positive reviews for its sleeker design, solid performance, and gorgeous tandem OLED display option. But it was already expensive at its launch price, and these new hikes make it an even tougher sell.
To return to Dell's statement: What about "this environment" is making laptops so expensive? You can blame AI.
Data center construction is gobbling up the world's RAM and SSD supplies, making these components vastly more expensive. In turn, many consumer electronics that rely on them have also gotten more expensive — laptops included. This crisis has been dubbed "RAMageddon."
In April, Microsoft told Windows Central that it raised the prices of its Surface devices by up to $500 because of "recent increases in memory and component costs." The same circumstances have prompted Framework, a modular PC company, to adjust its RAM and SSD prices almost every month this year.
Earlier this month, Mashable reported that Lenovo and Acer both quietly raised the prices of their premium Chromebooks by up to $250. Lenovo didn't get back to us, but an Acer spokesperson said the company "is adopting flexible pricing and promotional strategies to support demand and stabilize product availability as component costs increase."
Just last week, Dell announced that its new entry-level gaming laptop, the Alienware 15, would start at $1,299.99 — a higher price than expected. "The rising cost of RAM is affecting pricing across the industry," a company rep told Mashable. "The Alienware 15 is priced to be competitive against this new backdrop."

Women-loving-women now have their own dedicated site on Pornhub.
Today, the ubiquitous tube site is launching Pornhub Sapphic, a space dedicated to lesbian and nonbinary content and creators. Pornhub Gay has been around for awhile, so it's about time sapphics (which include lesbians, bisexual women, and typically any non-man who loves non-men) have a site of their own.
The move makes sense, considering that many women watch lesbian content on Pornhub. In 2022, lesbian was by far women's favorite category on the site, and women watched scissoring content 155 percent more than men. Last year, "lesbian" was the most-viewed video category overall. Searches for scissoring, lesbian MILF, and strap-on content soared.
SEE ALSO: Pride is almost here! Check out the best dating apps for LGBTQ women.Pornhub Sapphic will be "built for the female gaze," according to a press release shared with Mashable, and designed for WLW audiences. The site will apparently be free of male-targeted ads like penis enlargement promos.
"Pornhub Sapphic was created in direct response to feedback from lesbian, queer, and straight women who told us they wanted an experience that felt made for them," Pornhub's vice president of brand and community, Alex Kekesi, stated in the press release.
"By working with creators and users, we've built a space where women-loving-women content is featured and celebrated," Kekesi continued. "For viewers, it's about providing women with a dedicated place to explore and enjoy adult entertainment with their experiences and desires in mind."
The launch of Pornhub Sapphic also features prominent sapphic creators like The JellyFilledGirls.
"We know firsthand how much demand there is for authentic women-loving-women content," The JellyFilledGirls also stated in the press release. "We're thrilled to welcome Pornhub Sapphic and be part of bringing it to the sapphic community."
Pornhub has made headlines recently for more political reasons, usually related to age-verification laws. These laws require viewers to submit their government ID, facial scan, or other method to prove they're of age. Last month, Pornhub's parent company, Aylo, sued Utah and delayed the enforcement of a new law banning VPNs for porn sites. Pornhub also reinstated itself in the UK after a self-imposed block, due to the introduction of device-level age filters on some Apple devices.

French-Canadian tennis star Felix Auger-Aliassime takes to the court today for the 2026 French Open. The 25-year-old is the No. 4 seed following a semi-final at last year's U.S. Open — his best Grand Slam performance so far. Now he's looking to repeat — or improve on — that success at Roland-Garros.
But first he has to get past the unseeded German player Daniel Altmaier. And while Auger-Aliassime is the clear favorite in this first-round matchup, there's no such thing as an easy round when you're playing at this level. Auger-Aliassime will need to put in a top performance to prove he can match the likes of No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner, who bested him at last year's U.S. Open.
