You can't go wrong with a portable power station, especially as we head into colder, stormier months.
They're great for camping or road trips, keeping your gadgets running when you're away from a plug socket. Portable power stations come in all shapes, sizes, and price points, with some costing well into the thousands. It's not exactly an everyday purchase, so when sales events like October Prime Day roll around, it's a great excuse to finally invest in one.
Kicking off today, Prime Day runs Oct. 6-7. There are discounts on seriously powerful models that can serve as a perfect backup power source for your refrigerator, as well as smaller models that will keep your personal devices charged and online. Now is a great time to pick one up at a lower-than-usual price. Below, we've rounded up the best deals worth checking out.

One of the major benefits of a portable power station is the ability to recharge using solar power. The EcoFlow Delta 3 Classic bundle with a 220W solar panel is a great choice on Prime Day. October Prime Day is officially here, and we're looking for the best price drops across top brands, especially Apple. Early deals were pretty hit-or-miss with baseline models seeing modest $20 to $30 markdowns. But now that we've arrived at the main event, there are actually some deals worth shopping.

While none of the iPads here have dropped to new all-time lows, we're happy to take any savings, given that Apple raised iPad prices earlier this year. But if you want to see where current iPad prices fall, we've compiled the price history on current models.
Save up to $50 on the regular iPadThe standard iPad with the A16 chip is our favorite Apple tablet for budget shoppers. "Even though its tech is basic compared to the advanced iPad Air and Pro," writes Mashable's Samantha Mangino, "it's great for someone who wants a portable screen for streaming, playing games, and reading." It's rated for up to six hours of battery life.
The base iPad with 128GB of storage is now $50 off with or without cellular connectivity. That brings it down to $399, its lowest price since Amazon increased it to $449 earlier this year.

The iPad mini's compact size and anti-reflective display make it our favorite tablet for reading.
We hoped the iPad Mini would drop $70 during Prime Big Deal Days, but the deal is even sweeter. Right now, you can grab it for $499, a full 100 off its $599 list price.

It has the same super-light aluminum body and bright Liquid Retina screen as last year's model.
Where it wins is speed: the new M4 processor and upgraded smart chip make AI tools like fast voice-note transcription and photo editing happen almost instantly. While Timothy pointed out that it only offers "iterative upgrades over last year's model" and can feel "overpowered for casual users", that is exactly why this price drop makes sense.
Paying full retail for an incremental spec bump can be a hard sell, but catching it on sale makes the extra speed, 256GB of storage, and creator-grade power completely worth the tag. Luckily, it's now $100 off, bringing it down to $649.

Leading up to the sale, we saw discounts of up to $200 on last year's M4 model rather than the freshest M5 version. You can score an 11-inch iPad Pro with 2TB of storage and a nano-texture display. That brings the iPad Pro down to $1,899, which is still a steep price. If you want a Pro at a lower price (albeit with a smaller discount), go for the 11-inch iPad Pro with M5 chip and 256GB of storage, which is on sale for $60 off.

Wallets at the ready, folks: October Prime Day has officially dropped.
The sale, also dubbed Prime Big Deal Days, is the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season — a chance to stock up on marked-down tech with deals on items such as AirPods.
The sale runs Oct. 6-7, and our team is tracking all the best AirPods deals. So far, we haven't seen any price drops on the newly announced AirPods 5 (more on that below), but we have seen some other competitive price drops — including an all-time low match on 1st-Gen Pros. As someone who tests and writes about headphones and earbuds year-round, I get why Apple users are willing to invest in AirPods. As a deals expert, I also much prefer to see folks grab AirPods on sale.

What they lack in active noise cancellation, they make up for in a more appealing price point of $79, a total discount of over $50. With the release of the AirPods 5, these are the last AirPods available without ANC. Maybe that's ideal for you, or maybe you simply appreciate the lower price point. In either case, this is likely the last holiday shopping season you can grab these buds on sale. Just note that they are still $10 away from their record low price of $69, but their availability may be limited as we get further into the shopping season — they've already sold out on Amazon.
Best AirPods Pro deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirPods Pro 3 $179For listeners who need ANC in their ears, the AirPods Pro 3 currently boast one of the best Amazon discounts on AirPods. Having just dropped to $179, they're now just $10 off their lowest-ever reduction of $169. Sure, they're not the latest and most advanced model anymore, but you get a bunch of great features, including adaptive noise cancellation, Live Translation, heart rate sensing, and three-dimensional spatial audio.
Best budget ANC deal Apple AirPods Pro (1st Gen) $224.99 at AmazonAmazon just brought back the 1st-Gen AirPods Pro for $89.99, matching their all-time record low. Yes, they run on Apple's older H1 chip rather than current-gen silicon, but at under $90, you're getting active noise cancellation and silicone ear tips for just $10 more than the non-ANC AirPods 4. If you want proper noise cancellation without spending $179 on the Pro 3, this is easily the best value on the board — just keep in mind stock on discontinued generations usually disappears fast during Prime Day.

Apple AirPods Max 2 — $429 $549 (save $120)
The AirPods 5 have only received one small deal — a $4 price drop — so far since their release on Sept. 18. Granted, they're still very new to the market, so even that price dip is notable. We're hoping that as we get further into holiday deal season, a slightly more substantial deal comes along.
The AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case haven't dropped in price just yet, so we're not holding our breath that they will, especially since they're still brand new. That said, October Prime Day is a very appropriate time for a surprise deal, so the chance that we see even a small dip isn't zero. At the very least, grabbing them at full price is still likely a better deal than grabbing the AirPods 4 with ANC on sale (more on that below).
Amazon likes to drop the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation to $149 (down from $179), which might look like a good deal at first glance. But there's a catch. Their newer analog, the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case, has a standard list price of $149 and comes with an improved feature set, including better active noise cancellation and sound quality, with the same battery life. In other words, paying $149 for the older model doesn't make sense — the AirPods 4 with ANC would have to be priced well below that (like the Best Buy deal we mentioned above) for it to be a deal worth picking up.
If a new fitness tracker is on your wishlist, October Prime Day is the perfect time to shop. Amazon has discounted popular models from Fitbit, Garmin, Oura, and other big-name brands for its 48-hour event running Oct. 6 and 7.

If you'd like a capable fitness tracker, but you're not in the mood to spend much, I have good news: October Prime Day has the CMF Nothing Watch 3 Pro on sale for only $59. In testing this model last year, it quickly became one of my favorites, and left me shocked at how CMF priced this so low, given its features. It does have a larger face that measures about 1.5 inches, so keep that in mind if you prefer a more petite fitness tracker.

Prime Big Deal Days sale is finally here — and so are some shockingly excellent Apple deals. This 48-hour "October Prime Day" serves as Amazon's kickoff to the Black Friday holiday shopping season, which is the best time to find discounts on popular Apple devices (among many other tech products we love). This year, it doubles as some much-needed relief from RAMageddon price increases.
For the first day of the sale, Amazon has rolled out some great deals on AirPods, Apple Watches, iPads, and MacBooks. Some of them are even better than we expected: The new Apple Watch Series 12 just got its first real discount, and the M5 MacBook Air is now $200 off — a discount that nullifies its summer price hike. The 13-inch model now starts at $1,099 for the first time since June.
In the biggest surprise of October Prime Day so far, Amazon revived the original AirPods Pro from 2019 at the ridiculously low price of $89.99 first thing this morning (a 64% savings). That deal has since sold out, but might return in the next 24 hours or so. We're updating this story with any new October Prime Day Apple deals as we find them, so keep checking back.
How we picked the best October Prime Day Apple dealsMashable tracks Apple prices year-round and has covered Prime Big Deal Days since it started in 2022 (back when it was still called the Prime Early Access Sale). We've reviewed every current Apple device except for the Apple Watch Series 12, which shares all of its new features with the Apple Watch Ultra 4; and the latest Mac desktops, which our sister site PCMag has already tested extensively.

I've cross-checked all of Amazon's live Apple deals with other major retailers' sales to make sure no one else has even lower prices. Right now, the only devices I would buy elsewhere are the AirPods 4 with and without ANC: They're sold out on Amazon, but Best Buy and Walmart, respectively, still have them in stock at three-month lows. Stay tuned to see if Amazon brings them back at the same prices as Prime Big Deal Days continues.

They lack noise cancellation and don't sound quite as good as their successors, but this deal makes them a very smart pick for budget buyers. Mashable's Bethany Allard notes that "their availability may be limited as we get further into the shopping season," so best grab 'em now while you still can.

Apple's latest flagship smartwatch got its first proper discount for Prime Big Deal Days: a welcome $50-ish off. (That applies to the base model and the upgraded version with cellular connectivity, by the way.) Compared to the last-gen Series 11, the Series 12 has a faster processor, better heart rate sensors, quicker charging, and more durable glass. It also adds support for features like Readiness and Audio Intelligence tools like Siri Recap. Only Target was matching Amazon's prices at the time of writing.

Finally: The 13- and 15-inch M5 MacBook Air are both $200 off for Prime Big Deal Days, a discount that completely erases their price hikes from late June. Mashable tech editor Timothy Beck Werth called Apple's ultraportable "a damn near-perfect machine" in his review, pointing to its elite design, amazing speakers, and incredibly fast performance. It's a Mashable Choice Award winner, and we think it's the best MacBook for most people who just need a dependable daily driver. If either size sells out on Amazon, look for the same deals at Best Buy.

I pack light — as in, my one carry-on backpack comes in at under 20 pounds. $79 AirPods (a Prime Day classic)The $79 AirPods 4 are the budget pick for iPhone users who prefer earbuds without silicone tips. They offer up to five hours of listening per charge, plus H2-powered features including Personalized Spatial Audio and Voice Isolation for calls.
One important distinction: this deal is for the version without active noise cancellation. In our AirPods 4 review, we tested the ANC model, but it's still relevant in terms of functionality. For example, the review offers useful context on the shared design: the earbuds stayed secure through flights and a treadmill run, although our reviewer experienced some discomfort after roughly eight hours of wear.
The AirPods 4 reached $69 last Black Friday, so $79 isn’t their all-time low. It's their lowest price so far in 2026 — and a reasonable buy if you want Apple’s entry-level earbuds without paying extra for noise cancellation.

It’s the pick for readers who want a small, lightweight e-reader rather than every feature in the Kindle lineup.
In Mashable’s review, Lead Shopping Reporter Samantha Mangino found that the six-inch Kindle fit easily into a small crossbody bag, turned pages quickly, and displayed crisp, high-contrast text. Its 16GB of storage gives you room for thousands of books without stepping up to a more expensive model.
The trade-offs matter: this Kindle isn’t waterproof and doesn’t have the Paperwhite’s adjustable warm light. Amazon also rates its battery life at up to six weeks, compared with up to 12 weeks for the 2024 Paperwhite models. Choose the basic Kindle for portability and price; consider a Paperwhite if you read in the bath or want more control over nighttime lighting.

We've been waiting for good deals on Apple MacBooks, and Amazon has finally delivered, with both the MacBook Air and Pro on sale.
If you're a professional creative, developer, or AI enthusiast who needs a compact new laptop for work, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option than the 14-inch, M5 Max-powered MacBook Pro. When does Prime Big Deal Days start?Prime Big Deal Days 2026 will officially begin at 3:01 a.m. ET (12:01 a.m. PT) on Tuesday, Oct. 6. It will end at 2:59 a.m ET on Wednesday, Oct. 8 (11:59 p.m. PT on Oct. 7).
How is Prime Big Deal Days different from Prime Day?Prime Big Deal Days is a two-day event in the fall, while Prime Day is a four-day event in the summer. (It's usually in July, but Amazon moved it up to June this year because of the timing of the FIFA World Cup and the U.S. 250th anniversary, a company exec told Reuters.)

What deals will be available during Prime Big Deal Days 2026?Prime Big Deal Days will feature "millions of deals across fashion, electronics, beauty, toys, and more," according to a company blog post. Some of them will be special, limited-time offers called "Today's Big Deals" that involve discounts of "up to 50% or more" on "trending products and new releases," the retailer said (think $2,000 off a big-screen Sony TV, it added). Today's Big Deals will drop daily at 3 a.m., 11 a.m., and 4 p.m. ET during the sale, so keep a lookout. They're only available while supplies last.

Black Friday generally features better deals than October Prime Day. There are several reasons for this:
Basically every retailer runs a Black Friday sale, so there's a wider selection of deals available; the festivities aren't limited to Amazon and its immediate competitors (more on them momentarily).
Black Friday deals are open to everyone, not just Prime members.
Retailers really want to clear their shelves of old inventory ahead of the new year, so they're inclined to offer record-low prices during Black Friday.
That said, there is a lot of overlap between October Prime Day and Black Friday deals, especially when it comes to Amazon devices. (Most of the Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV deals we'll see during Prime Big Deal Days will probably pop back up in November.) You should definitely still check out Prime Big Deal Days if:
You're a Prime member who wants to maximize the benefits of your subscription.
You want to avoid the chaos of Black Friday and get your holiday shopping over with.
You're worried about an item on your wishlist selling out before the holidays.
You need an item sooner than late November or early December for gifting purposes.
Target and Walmart are both planning to run their own sales alongside Prime Big Deal Days. (Target's Circle Deal Days is also set for Oct. 6 and 7, while Walmart's Fall Deals event runs for a whole week from Oct. 5 to 11.) Best Buy previously said that its "[holiday] Savings start in October," but it hasn't confirmed anything yet.
How many times a year is Prime Day? Credit: AmazonPrime Day technically only happens once a year in mid-summer, but Amazon puts on two other Prime-exclusive events throughout the year that function similarly. One is Prime Big Deal Days in early October; the other is the Big Spring Sale in late March.
Do you need to be a Prime member to shop Prime Big Deal Days?Amazon's October Prime Day deals are reserved for members of its Prime program, but you don't need to pay for a subscription to participate. Shoppers who haven't had an active Prime membership within the past 12 months can score a free 30-day trial. Just remember to cancel your membership before your trial period ends, or else you'll get charged. (Prime normally costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually.)
If you're between the ages of 18 and 24 or a college student, you're eligible for a free six-month trial via Amazon's Prime for Young Adults program. At the end of your trial period, you can upgrade to a paid membership for 50% off the usual rate.

I pieced together this set, which is recommended for adults, and it's one of my favorites up on my shelf. Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days (aka October Prime Day) has come in hot, and with it, a smorgasbord of discounts on Amazon devices. The annual 48-hour sale runs from today through Oct. 7 and presents the perfect opportunity to kickstart your holiday shopping.
It's no surprise Amazon offers the biggest markdowns on its own devices. And since Amazon increased prices across its hardware range by as much as 60% last month, this year's October Prime Day sale couldn't come at a better time.
Amazon has marked down nearly all of its products. Just a week after Amazon released 2026 models of Kindles, the retailer dropped prices on 2024 Kindle models. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is my favorite e-reader, the one I use every day. With 32GB of storage, it has space for thousands of books. If you want to save $20, you could go for the standard Paperwhite, but right now, the Signature Edition is the better savings.

In Mashable’s hands-on testing, our former robot vacuum expert, Leah Stodart, found the Roborock Q10 S5+ notably quiet, including when it emptied its dustbin. Its compact dock also makes it worth considering if you don’t have much floor space to spare.

The catch: its dock doesn’t wash the mopping pad, which got dirty quickly in testing, and edge mopping wasn’t its strongest suit. You’re getting quieter cleaning and self-emptying convenience, not a maintenance-free machine.
Best entry-level robot vacuum deal Shark Matrix Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop $442.95 at AmazonThe Shark Matrix Plus combines vacuuming, sonic mopping, and a self-emptying base without stepping up to a more elaborate mop-washing station. Its LiDAR mapping lets you send it to specific rooms and set no-go zones in the SharkClean app, while the bagless base handles dustbin emptying.
The important distinction is what happens after mopping: You still have to clean the pad and refill the water tank yourself. That makes it a more practical option for occasional hard-floor cleanup than for someone expecting a robot to handle the entire mopping routine.

Mashable’s tested buying guide dropped it from its main recommendations as newer budget robots became more capable. Compare its current price with the Roborock Q10 S5+ above before deciding which compromises are worth making.
Best midrange robot vacuum deal Eufy E25 Robot Vacuum and Mop $569.96 at AmazonThe Eufy E25 is worth considering if washing dirty mop pads is the chore you’re trying to avoid. Its roller mop rinses itself with clean water as it works, and the station handles dustbin emptying, mop washing and drying, and water refilling. That’s the meaningful upgrade over a simpler vacuum-and-mop combo.
It also offers advertised 20,000 Pa suction, brushes designed to reduce hair tangles, and an extending arm for cleaning along edges. Those features give it a broader cleaning toolkit, though they shouldn’t be mistaken for hands-on proof that it will remove every stubborn stain.
Choose it for the automated mop maintenance. If you only need occasional mopping, compare its price with the cheaper models before paying for a station you may not use often.
Best premium robot vacuum deal Opens in a new window Credit: Amazon Roborock Qrevo CurvX Robot Vacuum and Mop $800.47 at AmazonThe Roborock Qrevo CurvX addresses two frustrations that cheaper robots don’t always solve: reaching underneath low furniture and getting across thresholds between rooms. Its navigation sensor retracts when needed, while its lifting chassis helps it navigate changes in floor height. Measure your furniture clearance before making that the reason you buy.

This is the model to compare if furniture clearance and automated mop upkeep are priorities. If neither is a particular problem in your home, start with the lower-priced options instead.

Carrie and Elon Musk aren't two things you would typically associate with one another, but given how Mike Flanagan's new adaptation of Stephen King's novel skewers the world of tech, their association in the series perhaps makes a little more sense.
Is the SpaceX founder named directly in the new Prime Video show? No. But there's one scene that feels almost like a veiled dig at him.

Howell) is leaving a party with Tommy (Joel Oulette), the former having sunk many more drinks than her designated driver. Before heading home, the two of them lie on their backs on the grass and look up at the night sky. Soon, they start talking about the stars.
Here's a transcript of their exchange:
Carrie: "When I was little my dad said wherever I went, I could always find my way home by the stars. And people used to just use the stars, back before the spy satellites and the GPS went up — all the bad stuff. It's just the stars. That's all you really need."
Tommy: "That's Mars. They say we're gonna go there one day. Imagine that. People on Mars."
Carrie: "It's amazing."
Tommy: "It's terrifying. I read all The Martian Chronicles. Space head, I guess. There's this amazing sentence in there: 'Earth men have a talent for ruining big and beautiful things.' Leave it alone, I say. Can't it be enough to just look?
Tommy is referring to Ray Bradbury's 1950 sci-fi novel The Martian Chronicles, in which Americans colonise an inhabited Mars after nuclear war demolishes Earth.
But outside of fiction, Musk has previously outlined his vision of sending a million humans to Mars by 2025. The SpaceX CEO has been speaking about sending people to the red planet for years. Given that Flanagan's 21s-century setting for the show makes it clear that Carrie's bullying is made worse by the presence of the internet and social media, it doesn't seem too much of a stretch to think this exchange might be a jab at the world's richest man's space-conquering desires — or at least a warning.
King himself almost certainly wouldn't mind — the horror author has been butting heads with Musk for years.
Carrie is streaming on Prime Video from Oct. 7.
