Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 2, the same day as the forthcoming console's Nintendo Direct livestream, according to a since-deleted post on Best Buy Canada's blog.

"Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 2nd at Best Buy Canada, giving you the chance to secure your console early," reads an archived version of the March 27 post, which linked out to a live page where shoppers could sign up for preorder news alerts (h/t IGN). The post did not mention a price or release date for the Switch 2, nor did it specify what time preorders would start.

Nintendo will will likely confirm these details during next week's Direct; the company hasn't shared any Switch 2 preorder information itself yet. The stream will kick off at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT on April 2 and air on Nintendo's YouTube channel.

To date, Best Buy hasn't posed any information about U.S. Switch 2 preorders on its regional press site.

Nintendo first announced the Switch 2 in mid-January, showcasing a bigger display, an improved kickstand, and some magnetically attached Joy-Con that appear to function like computer mice. The first-look trailer also teased a new Mario Kart game, its first since 2017 (or 2014, if you don't count Mario Kart 8's Deluxe re-release).

Thursday's leak coincided with an unrelated Direct during which Nintendo announced more than a dozen upcoming Switch games, a new mobile app, and a new "Virtual Game Cards" feature that lets Switch owners share games.

I was admittedly very late to the game when it comes to smart home adaptation. In FX's Dying for Sex, one woman's quest for her first orgasm with another person becomes a remarkable journey of both self-discovery and reckoning with death.

The miniseries is based on the Dying for Sex podcast, hosted by actor Nikki Boyer (who executive produces the series) and her friend Molly Kochan (Michelle Williams). While the series is a fictionalized account of Molly's life, it does take the same starting point: After being diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, Molly leaves her husband Steve (Jay Duplass) and explores her own sexual desires in ways she never thought possible.

Naturally, this means Dying for Sex is full of frank portrayals of sex, be it awkward, revelatory, pleasurable, or (usually) a combination of all three. But these experiences, as life-affirming as they are for Molly, share space with honest conversations about mortality. That makes for a potent, tear-jerking combination, one that Dying for Sex still somehow manages to lighten in a remarkable balancing act.

As Dying for Sex introduces Molly and Steve in couples' therapy, it's clear her decision to leave him has been a long time coming. After her first bout with breast cancer, treatment for which included a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction, Molly wants to be intimate with her husband again. But Steve no longer feels that desire. When Molly does initiate oral sex, he becomes too sad to continue. He pities her, and when Molly receives the diagnosis of metastatic cancer, she realizes Steve seems excited for her to once again be pitiable. Meanwhile, Molly just doesn't want to die without being touched or feeling sexual pleasure again.

Upon making that realization, Molly leaves Steve and turns to her best friend Nikki (Jenny Slate) to be her new caretaker. With Nikki's support, and with the advice to start a "bucket list" from her sex-positive palliative care social worker Sonya (Esco Jouléy), it's not long before Molly submerges herself in a new world of sex, revelling in everything from dating app dick pics to submission and dominance.

Many people in Molly's life, including Steve and her mother Gail (Sissy Spacek), judge Molly for her exploration, even going so far as to "blame" it on childhood trauma. But Dying for Sex has no interest in pathologizing Molly's wants, even though later episodes do somewhat clumsily emphasize how her trauma has affected her intimate experiences as an adult.

Instead, Dying for Sex launches Molly into a judgment-free rollercoaster ride of human sexuality. She experiments with vibrators, goes to sex parties (that are also potlucks!), and learns about new kinks with a variety of partners, including her hot neighbor (Rob Delaney). The scenes are understandably raunchy, but also full of communication about limits and boundaries. One such conversation — about orgasm torture, specifically — takes place in a crowded cafe, just one of many scenes where Dying for Sex finds humor by placing discussions of intimate desires in mundane surroundings. Williams' bright-eyed curiosity and excitement about the subjects at hand adds further lightness to the series, emphasizing Molly's open embrace of a world she'd previously denied herself.

But Dying for Sex's sex scenes can be heartbreaking, too. Molly spends much of the series trying to prevent people from reducing her to her cancer, even going so far as to join a support group for people with earlier stages of cancer in order to separate herself from her terminal diagnosis. That mentality extends to the bedroom as well. She hides her cancer from her partners and chooses to keep her bra on to hide her mastectomy scars, each decision a reminder of why she's on this road to sexual enlightenment in the first place.

Also heartbreaking are Molly's early attempts at post-Steve sex. Often, she finds she can't voice what she want, or she doesn't even know what feels good. But as Dying for Sex continues and Molly discovers what turns her on, those desires snap into place. Thankfully, the series takes as candid and forthright an approach to depicting those desires as Molly is in communicating them.

Amidst all the sex, Dying for Sex fashions a gorgeous, heart-wrenching love story. Not with any of Molly's partners — although her relationship with Delaney's neighbor character may grow to fit that bill — but with Nikki.

That's because as Molly is forging new connections with her partners, she's also strengthening her bond with Nikki. Thrust suddenly into the role of caretaker, Nikki gets off to a tough start when it comes to helping Molly with her medical needs — especially with Steve breathing down her neck. Yet just as Molly settles into her search for new sexual experiences, Nikki soon finds her footing in a world of insurance claims and medical records.

That adjustment doesn't mean Nikki's responsibilities aren't difficult. In fact, people in her life keep telling her to set boundaries with Molly — perhaps a parallel to people like Steve who doubt Molly's sex quest. Yet like Molly, Nikki holds firm. Her best friend is dying, after all, and she's going to do everything she can to get her solid care (and help her find a way to get off).

Dying for Sex is likely going to be a tough watch for anyone who has experienced cancer or who has watched a loved one go through it. I sobbed through quite a bit of it, and much of that came down to the chemistry between Williams and Slate. As a duo, they oscillate between gallows humor and genuine heartbreak at a moment's notice, a dichotomy that feels so natural you can't believe you've only been watching their takes on Molly and Nikki for a few episodes. You also can't believe that their friendship will one day come to an end, but Dying for Sex faces that inevitability head on, as honest about death as it is about sex.

"I told [Steve] I don't want to die with him," Molly tells Nikki in the show's premiere. "I want to die with you."

It's that simple statement, and all the beautiful, terrible baggage that comes with it, that forms the foundation of Dying for Sex, paving the way for Molly and Nikki's messy journey through death, sex, and everything in between.

Nintendo just held a Nintendo Direct. No, not the Switch 2 Direct you've been waiting for, but another one.

In what will potentially be the last Switch 1-focused Direct livestream, Nintendo made a bundle of announcements, some of which weren't even games. Instead of wasting time, let's get right to it. Here's everything Nintendo announced.

Dragon Quest I and II remakes

Last year, Square Enix released a really gorgeous "HD-2D" remake of Dragon Quest III, with the promise that the first two games in the series would eventually get the same treatment. Good news! That's happening in 2025, though without a firm release date for either of them. Still, they look very pretty and should whet the appetite of old-school RPG fans everywhere.

No Sleep for Kaname Date

Do you like anime? Do you also like solving puzzles? If the answer to either of those questions (or ideally both of them) was "yes," then No Sleep for Kaname Date might be for you. The trailer speaks for itself, check it out. It's out July 25.

RAIDOU Remastered

RAIDOU Remastered is a remake of a PlayStation 2 game in the broader Shin Megami Tensei series, which is also where the very popular Persona games come from. This one's more of a period piece with action combat, but the same weird little monster guys from Persona are here, too. This one is out on June 19.

Shadow Labyrinth

Our first very weird announcement of the day came in the form of Shadow Labyrinth. This looks like a Metroidvania-type game, except you have a weird little orb with you who can turn into Pac-Man, for some reason. To be clear, it doesn't resemble Pac-Man, it is Pac-Man, complete with accurate sound effects and everything. You can check this out on July 18.

Patapon 1+2

Patapon and Patapon 2 were two of the most zany and creative games on the PlayStation Portable, and unfortunately, they've kinda been stuck in purgatory for years. Until now, anyway. These inventive rhythm-strategy games are coming to Switch on July 11, with new accessibility features to make them more approachable for those who didn't play them before.

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

Story of Seasons, for those who aren't aware, is basically a spiritual successor to Harvest Moon. In this one, you run a bazaar in the middle of an idyllic little fantasy village. If you've ever liked Harvest Moon before, this is essentially the newest one of those. It's out August 27.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

I expected Metroid Prime 4 to either be part of the Switch 2 direct or the "and one more thing" game for this one, but instead, Nintendo just threw a trailer into the middle of the Direct today. The big news here is that Samus has psychic powers this time, and she also gets a swaggy-looking new suit at the end of the trailer. Unfortunately, there was no release date in this trailer. It's just listed for "2025."

Disney Villains Cursed Cafe

We have our first "and it's out today!" reveal of the Direct! This one is a game where you serve coffee to Disney villains. No, really. It actually looks kinda cool. You can play it by the end of today.

Witchbrook

If you've spent the past several years looking for an alternative to Harry Potter, Witchbrook might be the game for you. Out this holiday season, it's a cute-looking game about going to witch school and everything that entails.

The Eternal Life of Goldman

Also out this holiday is The Eternal Life of Goldman. This is a side-scrolling platformer with gorgeous hand-drawn art, but other than that, it's hard to tell what its deal is. Looks really cool, though!

Gradius Origins

Gradius Origins is a comprehensive collection of many of the various games in the long-running Gradius series of scrolling space shooters, including different regional variants of each game, which is rad. There's also a totally new game in here called Salamander III. It's out August 7.

Rift of the Necrodancer

The latest game in the Necrodancer series of stylish rhythm games is out on Switch today. It's a rhythm game, so you likely already know if you're interested or not. It's also supposed to be quite good, so if you've been looking for a new Switch game to play, this might be the one.

Tamagotchi Plaza

Launching on June 27, Tamagotchi Plaza is a game attached to the long-running Tamagotchi brand. Yes, I'm talking about the little digital pet toys from the '90s, but in video game form. It looks cute, if you're into lifestyle simulation stuff with adorable creatures.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Pokemon Legends: Z-A was already announced prior to this Direct, but Nintendo took a few minutes to expand on what the game actually is. It's an open-world adventure set in Lumiose City (from Pokemon X and Y) with some interesting new takes on Pokemon gameplay. Unfortunately, there's no date on this yet beyond "late 2025."

Rhythm Heaven Groove

Shockingly, there was a game with a 2026 release date in this Direct. Rhythm Heaven is a very long-running (and some would argue underappreciated) series of wacky rhythm games from Nintendo, and Groove looks like it's carrying the torch proudly. It will be out at some point next year.

Virtual Game Cards

We had two major non-game announcements in this Direct. First, Nintendo is updating the Switch firmware in late April to introduce the concept of Virtual Game Cards. In summary, it's a way for people to share digital games they own with others on a temporary, two-week basis. To be honest, based on the trailer, it seems overly complicated for a game-sharing program, but with a new console coming out (and lots of families owning multiple Switches), this is probably necessary.

SaGa Frontier 2 remaster

Old-school RPG heads have more to chew on with a remaster of SaGa Frontier 2, part of Square Enix's venerable series of open-ended turn-based RPGs. The best part is that this one is out today.

Monument Valley 1 and 2

On April 15, you'll be able to play the beautiful mobile puzzle Monument Valley games on Switch. There are two of them already, with a third coming to Switch this summer. If you like gorgeous, stylistic visuals and clever puzzles, check this out.

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots

Set for sometime in 2025, Everybody's Golf Hot Shots is maybe the weirdest announcement of the day. For one, Everybody's Golf (known traditionally as Hot Shots Golf in the west) is a PlayStation brand, or at least it used to be. For whatever reason, Sony has handed the reins to Bandai Namco, who is releasing it on Switch, PC, and PS5. These are great, arcade-y golf games that anyone can pick up and play. It's just weird that it's on Switch at all.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

Coming this holiday season, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a throwback to old arcade beat-'em-up games with co-op play and multiple classic Marvel heroes to play as.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

The last game announcement from Nintendo is another 2026 title. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a follow-up to a popular 3DS game where you populate an island with Mii characters created by yourself or others. They all speak out loud using creepy modulated computer voices, too. A simple way of looking at it is "Animal Crossing, but really weird."

Nintendo Today!

Last but certainly not least, Nintendo is launching a mobile app called Nintendo Today! Yes, the exclamation mark is part of the name. Under 'Memberships & Subscriptions' you'll find a list of all your active and past memberships. Head to the 'Kindle Unlimited settings' that will take you to the Kindle Unlimited landing page.

3. Cancel your membership

On the left side of the Kindle Unlimited landing page, you'll finally find the 'Cancel membership' link. There you can complete the process of cancelling your membership. It will remain active until your next billing date, so you can squeeze in a few extra books before your membership ends.
