The best smartwatch and fitness tracker deals to shop during Prime Day

Mashable - Tue, 07/16/2024 - 03:00

UPDATE: Jul. 15, 2024, 2:49 p.m. EDT This article has been updated with the latest fitness tracker and smartwatch deals the day before Prime Day 2024.

Check out the best fitness trackers on sale ahead of Prime Day.

A glimpse at the best fitness tracker deals at Amazon: BEST OVERALL Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (Bluetooth, 40mm) $209.99 at Amazon (save $90) Get Deal BEST APPLE WATCH DEAL Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS, 45mm) $329 at Amazon (save $100) Get Deal BEST GARMIN DEAL Garmin vívoactive 5 $267.99 at Amazon (save $32) Get Deal

For those in the market for a new fitness tracker or smartwatch, Amazon Prime Day is the time to shop. The mega retailer tends to drop prices on top brands like Apple, Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung, and more — often to record lows.

Though the sale formally runs on July 16 and 17, we started tracking the best fitness tracker deals at Amazon weeks in advance. Things started pretty slow, with some Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy deals running the show, but a few Garmin, Polar, and OnePlus deals have trickled in as we're less than 24 hours out from the official Prime Day start. Fitbit deals are still completely MIA, aside from a few sketchy third-party sellers, but we definitely expect those to pop up.

If you don't see something that jumps out at you yet, be sure to check back once things officially kick off tomorrow. We'll be updating this page with the latest price drops on fitness trackers and smartwatches throughout the sale.

Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price.

$299.99 Save $90.00 Get Deal Why we like it

Launched last summer, Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 was dubbed the "king of the Android smartwatch mountain" by Mashable tech reporter Alex Perry. The sixth iteration saw a suite of added sleep and fitness features, including a nuanced breakdown of sleep habits, sleep coaching, personalized heart rate zones, and irregular heart rate notifications. Plus, it lasts longer on a single charge and features a 20 percent larger display than previous models. The 40mm version with Bluetooth dropped to a record-low $196.95 at Amazon last week, but already jumped up to $209.99. That's still an awesome deal with $90 off the MSRP, but we're really keeping an eye on it as Prime Day officially hits. We're expecting an even better deal on the big day.

Ahead of Prime Day, which runs July 16 and 17, deals are sneakily sliding in. The next few days are a bit of a waiting game to see what sought-after products will go on sale. Luckily for you, we're on top of our game finding the early deals, including on the latest iPads from Apple.

These discounts might not seem like much, less than $100 off each model, but these are the lowest prices ever on these iPads. The spring release of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro brought noteworthy tech, creating tablets with as much power as the best laptops we've tested. So while these deals seem subtle, we can confirm they're the best prices on iPads right now.

Don't worry, we're not so patiently waiting to see what Prime Day brings.

Note: We'll be updating this article with the latest prices as we get closer to the main event. All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. Amazon's exclusive invite-only deals are marked with a 📨.

Among the tablets we've tested, the iPad 9th generation is the best for most people. This 2021 model isn't the newest tech, especially with the release of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro, however, it's a great value. It has all the essentials you want in an iPad as the A13 lets you stream, read, and work. When not on sale, it comes in at $329, about $20 cheaper than the iPad 10th generation, but the savings are even bigger ahead of Prime Day. Now, you can get the iPad 9th generation for $249, saving you $80 for 24% off.

Loaded with the M2 chip, the iPad Air is a tablet with the power of a laptop. It's our best overall iPad, as it goes beyond just entertainment — it can be a professional workspace too. The M2 chip powers creatives who want to illustrate and with 1TB of storage, you won't run out of space when starting new projects. This iPad Air usually starts at $1,099, but it's currently down to $1,024, knocking $75 off the price. Those 7% savings bring it down to its lowest price, unbeatable for the amount of power and storage you're getting.

$999.00 Save $71.00 Get Deal Why we like it

The iPad Pro is not only the most advanced tablet we've ever seen, but maybe the most advanced computing power period. If you need an iPad for professional use, something that can accomplish all your work, from photo to video editing, look no further than the iPad Pro which scored a 14,586 on the Geekbench 6 test, which is better performance than both the M3 Macbook Air and M3 Macbook Pro.

Ahead of Prime Day, you can get the latest iPad Pro for $928, saving you $71. Like the rest of the tablets on this list, those 7% savings might seem minor, but it's the lowest price we've ever seen.

Best iPad Mini deal Opens in a new window Credit: Amazon Apple iPad Mini, 8.3-inch (A15, WiFi, 64GB) ✨ $399.99 at Amazon
$499.00 Save $99.01 Get Deal Why we like it

In some ways, the iPad Mini is Apple's answer to an e-reader. That's oversimplifying it for sure, as the Mini can do everything you expect from an iPad — browse the internet, stream shows, play games — but it does so in a compact package, giving it a better hand feel for reading.

Ahead of Prime Day, the iPad Mini is down to $399.99, giving you $99.01. That saves you 20% — plenty of savings you can reallocate to your summer book budget.

The best Prime Day AirTag deal isn't from Amazon

Apple AirTags have benefitted from quite the flattering news cycle recently. And while you might not be looking to crack a case of theft, AirTags still help you find your belongings. Attach them to your keys, wallet, or anything else you might frequently misplace, and you can see their location on the Find My app.

Ahead of Prime Day 2024, which runs July 16 and 17, we're keeping our eyes peeled for the best tech deals, and that includes AirTags. Amazon is selling singular AirTags at a 14% discount ahead of Prime Day, but the best deal comes from a different retailer. Get a jumpstart on AirTag deals now.

AirTags sell as singles or in packs of four. Not sure if you're ready to commit to a pack? Dip your toes in with a singular AirTag, currently marked down at Amazon. Normally priced at $29, they're on sale for $24.99, saving you $4.01. This is the lowest recorded price for AirTags on Amazon, however, we're eager to see if they drop further come Prime Day.

The most affordable way to shop AirTags is to purchase them in a pack of four, which has an MSRP of $99, making each one $24.75 — cheaper than when you purchase them individually. However, right now you can find them for $79.99 at Walmart. Historically, we've seen the best price on AirTag packs at Amazon; back in April they dropped down to its lowest price of $74.99. However, ahead of Prime Day, we're not mad about this deal at Walmart, which saves you $19.01.

UPDATE: Jul. 12, 2024, 10:20 a.m. EDT On July 9, we saw all AirPods drop to their lowest prices ever. While the deals didn't last long, you can still find deals on AirPods ahead of Prime Day.

Shopping is a year round activity (for us at least), but summer is an especially good time to be a deal hunter. With Prime Day 2024 coming July 16 and 17, 4th of July sales, and Target Circle Week all in the ether, it's no sleep, all deals. The biggest brands are on sale, including Apple and their ultra-popular AirPods.

And these deals have taken us on a rollercoaster, going from lukewarm to piping hot and back down again. On July 9, we saw every model of AirPods fall to its lowest price ever. Unfortunately, the deals didn't last long, a testament to the fact that if you see a good sale, act fast. You can still find savings on AirPods and while the deals aren't as good as we've seen them, anything is better than paying full price.

Here are the best AirPods deals we could find at Amazon the day before the annual shopping event. We'll be refreshing the list now that the sale has officially begun, so keep checking back for the latest and greatest deals.

Typically priced at $129, these AirPods are currently $79.99 — about $10 more than their lowest price ever. That's 38% off or $49.01 back in your pocket.

The Apple AirPods Pro provide active noise cancellation and personalized spatial audio, so you get sound that's just right for you. Now, you can find the AirPods Pro for $199, giving you $50 off and 20% savings.

Best AirPods Max deal Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple AirPods Max $479.95 at Amazon
$549.00 Save $69.05 Get Deal Why we like it

AirPods Max, Apple's answer to over-the-ear headphones, may not be our top pick for sound quality, but they're certainly the most stylish. Coming in green, blue, pink, silver, and space gray, they look great while also providing active noise cancellation. Similar to AirPods Pro, the AirPods Max give specialized settings with spatial audio and Dolby Atmos.

AirPods Max are currently $479.95, certainly not as impressive as the $399 price tag we saw earlier this week, but we're still happy to see them under $500. Buy them now for 13% savings of $69.05.

Prime Day starts today, July 16, and runs through the 17, but plenty of Apple deals, some of the best we've ever seen, went live days before the big event.

One big reason is that Walmart kicked off their Walmart Deals sale last week, bringing down the prices on the M1 MacBook and AirPods. With Prime Day now here, these could be the best prices on Apple products, but we're still watching and waiting.

Is this tablet a couple of years old? Yes. Is that why it's getting this $200 markdown? Probably! We first saw the iPad Air drop to this price at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago, and though it's shot back up at the retailer, the Walmart Deals sale has brought it back down. An M1-powered tablet is hardly past its prime, still offering plenty of power for gaming and note-taking. While we do wish this iPad offered a little more storage space, at this sale price you're paying just under $70 more than you would for a discounted A14 Bionic chip-powered iPad with the same amount of storage.

What better way to enjoy the exceptional display brightness of the Series 9 than with the largest display you can possibly get? Apple Watches haven't introduced a ton of exciting upgrades over the years, but we do like that with this sale price, you can grab the 45mm Series 9 for about $70 cheaper than you would the 41mm Series 9 at full price.

If you're due for a phone upgrade, Amazon Prime Day could be the perfect opportunity to scoop one up for a steep discount. Snagging an unlocked phone at Amazon eliminates the annoyance of coordinating a trade-in or new data plan at a specific carrier. Plus, you can usually find better deals.

Prime Day has officially kicked off today, July 16, but in true Amazon fashion, deals started popping up days ahead of time — particularly on Motorola and Samsung Galaxy phones. Apple iPhone deals have been no-shows so far, while a single (but stellar) Google Pixel deal is on our radar. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled throughout the sale though.

Just released two months ago, the Google Pixel 8a is "a compelling option for anyone who’s overdue for an affordable Android upgrade" — especially when you see its price tag. Mashable's Alex Perry called it "the best deal in Android-land" at full price, and just 24 hours before Prime Day, it's even better with a $50 discount. Besides the $100 gift card preorder deal, this is the first discount we've seen on this budget-friendly phone. It's basically a lite version of the Pixel 8, sharing the same Tensor G3 chip, over 24-hour battery life, Magic Editor and Magic Take camera tools, storage options, 8GB RAM, and up to 120Hz refresh rate. Where it differs is its size (it's just 0.1 inches taller and wider with a slightly smaller display) audio (no spatial audio, one less microphone), and camera.

Deal hunters, gather round: Amazon Prime Day is back for its tenth year. And with the big event finally here, thousands of Prime Day deals have officially gone live.

Though the flagship summer sale officially started in the wee hours of July 16, Amazon's been releasing early Prime Deal deals ever since it announced the event's dates in late June. (Much like Black Friday, Prime Day is less of a one-off and more like an ongoing season.)

This is where we’ll be keeping track of all the best deals we see during Prime Day 2024, so be sure to bookmark or check this page regularly if you don't want to comb through thousands of listings yourself. Here's the lowdown.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day 2024 will officially run from Tuesday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 17. The shopping event typically happens in mid-July, so this year is right on par with years past.

What to expect for Prime Day 2024

Anyone who's shopped a Prime Day sale before already knows the drill: It will be two days of site-wide doorbusters, with Amazon's own devices and services getting the steepest price drops.

SEE ALSO: Prime Day 2024: When it's happening and everything else we know so far

In a repeat from Prime Day 2023, Amazon has also revived its invite-only deals program, giving select shoppers a chance to grab extra-exclusive doorbusters that are likely to sell out. Prime members can visit these products' listings to request an invitation; if chosen, you'll receive an email with a unique link to buy the item at some point during the sale. (Amazon doesn't specify how it picks these lucky eligible shoppers; all we know is that they're exclusive to Prime members.) Check out Mashable's invite-only deals guide if you're interested in participating.

The best early Prime Day 2024 deals

Now that we've covered the basics, let's get to the deals. As mentioned up top, Amazon will likely reserve some of its biggest Prime Day price drops for the sale's official 48-hour window. However, it's releasing a bunch of offers ahead of time for those who are eager to shop already.

While many of these prices are record-lows that won't dip any further than they already have, some will inevitably get cheaper once Prime Day begins. It's annoying, but it's not the end of the world: While Amazon doesn't do price adjustments, most items delivered to a U.S. address are covered by its free 30-day return policy. (Gift cards and downloadable software are some exceptions.) You can always send something back and re-buy it at a better price.

Plus, it lasts longer on a single charge and features a 20 percent larger display than previous models.

The 40mm version with Bluetooth dropped down to a record-low $196.95 at Amazon last week, but already jumped up to $209.99. Everything you need to know about Prime Day 2024: Start times, competition, early deals, and more

Mashable - Tue, 07/16/2024 - 03:00

UPDATE: Jul. 16, 2024, 3:00 a.m. EDT This story has been updated with more information about Amazon Prime Day and a look at some of the best deals from the sale.

Amazon Prime Day is turning 10 this year, and the members-only sale is poised to be a huge draw for sticker shock-weary shoppers on the hunt for summer deals. (Granted, not every deal is worth it.)

Here's what you need to know about Prime Day 2024.

What is Prime Day?

Prime Day is an annual sitewide sale open to paid and trial members of Amazon's Prime subscription service. First held in 2015 in honor of Amazon's 20th anniversary (with mixed success), it was originally plugged as a "one-day-only event filled with more deals than Black Friday." In the years since, it's morphed into a 48-hour affair that's preceded by weeks of preview offers. Prime Day is a misnomer at this point.

SEE ALSO: Prime Day 2024 is almost here: 150+ of the best early deals you can shop right now

For the past two years, Amazon has hosted another major two-day sale for Prime members in October, teeing up its Black Friday festivities. (The 2022 version was called "Prime Early Access Sale," and it was renamed to "Prime Big Deal Days" in 2023.) However, the summer iteration of Prime Day has remained Amazon's flagship sale.

When is Prime Day 2024?

Prime Day will be live from Tuesday, July 16 at 3:01 a.m ET through Wednesday, July 17 in 2024. This lines up with Amazon's historical preference for early-week slots in mid-July. (For reference, Prime Day 2022 was live from Tuesday, July 12, through Wednesday, July 13, and Prime Day 2023 ran from Tuesday, June 11, through Wednesday, July 12.)

What are the best early Prime Day deals?

Amazon started rolling out official "Early Prime Day Deals" the day it announced the sale's dates in 2024, and there are thousands of deals up for grabs before the sale even starts.

The best early Prime Day deals at a glance: Best laptop deal Apple MacBook Air, 13-inch (M2) $799 at Amazon (save $200) Get Deal Best earbuds deal Amazon Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation $34.99 at Amazon (save $85 with Prime) Get Deal Best smart speaker deal Amazon Echo Spot $44.99 at Amazon (save $35 with Prime) Get Deal Best smartwatch deal Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS, 41mm) $299 at Amazon (save $300) Get Deal Best robot vacuum deal Eufy X90 Pro $449.99 at Amazon (save $450 with code X9PROEUFY) Get Deal Best kitchen deal Chefman TurboFry Touch Air Fryer $69.99 at Amazon (save $50) Get Deal

In doling out many of its steepest price drops ahead of Prime Day, Amazon is keeping things in the family. A slew of Echo devices from Amazon's in-house brand of smart home gadgets are sitting at all-time low prices for Team Prime, including the all-new Echo Spot (44% off), the Echo Show 8 (43% off), the Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation (71% off), and the Echo Frames (37% off, plus a free Echo Pop). Prime members can also snag five free months of Amazon Music Unlimited, three free months of Audible Premium Plus, and three free months of Kindle Unlimited if they haven't subscribed before. Meanwhile, Prime Video rentals and purchases are up to 50% off.

Outside of the Amazon ecosystem, we're seeing some new all-time lows on big-ticket tech, including Apple devices, robot vacuums, and kitchen appliances. Highlights include an $800 M2 MacBook Air (20% off), a $300 Apple Watch Series 9 (25% off), a $450 Eufy X90 Pro (50% off with code X9PROEUFY), and a six-quart Chefman dual-basket air fryer for $70 (42% off). None of them have been labeled by Amazon as official early Prime Day deals, so anyone can take advantage of them — even non-members.

SEE ALSO: Seven invite-only deals are live ahead of Prime Day 2024

The Mashable shopping team is keeping a close watch on the sale, so if you don't want to comb through every listing yourself, bookmark our guide to the very best early Prime Day deals.

What to expect during Prime Day

We're expecting Amazon to feature worthwhile deals on headphones, 4K TVs, laptops, tablets, unlocked phones, outdoor gear, and its own Fire devices (including TVs, tablets, and media players). Many items will hit their cheapest prices of the year outside of Black Friday.

Amazon will also grant access to a selection of invite-only deals during Prime Day. (Their exact timing is between Andy Jassy and God.) If you're interested in a cheap pair of Sony headphones, a $150 SodaStream bundle, a $103 Foreo Luna mini 3 bundle, or an original Peloton Bike for just over a grand, be sure to request your invitation ahead of time.

Can you shop on Prime Day without being a Prime member?

You have to be a Prime member in order to shop Amazon's Prime Day deals. But if you don't want to commit to a monthly or annual paid subscription, you can still participate by scheduling a free 30-day trial of Prime around the sale. Just remember to cancel it as soon as Prime Day is over to avoid getting charged.

Who's competing with Prime Day?

Other retailers traditionally hold competing sales during Prime Day, but this year, only Best Buy is going head-to-head with Amazon.

The electronics store's Black Friday in July sale runs from Monday, July 15 to Wednesday, July 17 (or a full 24 hours longer than Prime Day). It's not a subscribers-only affair, but paid (Plus and Total) members of the My Best Buy program will receive a $50 bonus reward when they spend $500 or more during the event.

Target and Walmart both ran their (unofficial) Prime Day counter-programming last week. However, it's still worth cross-checking Amazon's sale prices with their listings, just in case they randomly decide to match or one-up their prices.

Wordle today: Here's the answer hints for July 16

Mashable - Mon, 07/15/2024 - 22:00

Oh hey there! If you're here, it must be time for Wordle. As always, we're serving up our daily hints and tips to help you figure out today's answer.

If you just want to be told today's word, you can jump to the bottom of this article for July 16's Wordle solution revealed. But if you'd rather solve it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to assist you.

Where did Wordle come from?

Originally created by engineer Josh Wardle as a gift for his partner, Wordle rapidly spread to become an international phenomenon, with thousands of people around the globe playing every day. Alternate Wordle versions created by fans also sprang up, including battle royale Squabble, music identification game Heardle, and variations like Dordle and Quordle that make you guess multiple words at once

Wordle eventually became so popular that it was purchased by the New York Times, and TikTok creators even livestream themselves playing.

Not the day you're after? Here's the solution to yesterday's Wordle.

What's the best Wordle starting word?

The best Wordle starting word is the one that speaks to you. But if you prefer to be strategic in your approach, we have a few ideas to help you pick a word that might help you find the solution faster. One tip is to select a word that includes at least two different vowels, plus some common consonants like S, T, R, or N.

What happened to the Wordle archive?

The entire archive of past Wordle puzzles used to be available for anyone to enjoy whenever they felt like it. Unfortunately, it has since been taken down, with the website's creator stating it was done at the request of the New York Times.

Is Wordle getting harder?

It might feel like Wordle is getting harder, but it actually isn't any more difficult than when it first began. You can turn on Wordle's Hard Mode if you're after more of a challenge, though.

Mashable - Mon, 07/15/2024 - 21:00

Connections is the latest New York Times word game that's captured the public's attention. The game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier—so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle.

If you just want to be told today's puzzle, you can jump to the end of this article for July 16's Connections solution. But if you'd rather solve it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to assist you.

What is Connections?

The NYT's latest daily word game has become a social media hit. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu with helping to create the new word game and bringing it to the publications' Games section. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Tweet may have been deleted

Each puzzle features 16 words and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise of anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer. If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake—players get up to four mistakes until the game ends.

Tweet may have been deleted

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.

Here's a hint for today's Connections categories

Want a hit about the categories without being told the categories? Then give these a try:

Amazon Prime Day is always an opportune time to score elite headphones for less. While we're already seeing plenty of deals on headphones and speakers ahead of Prime Day, today's deal on Apple AirPods Max headphones stands out.

As of today, July 15, Apple AirPods Max headphones are 22% off, taking the price down from $550 to $429.95. (That's $120.05 back in your wallet.) While we did just see the headphones drop down to their lowest price ever last week at $399, today's deal is still the second lowest price on record. Notably, it beats Best Buy's current deal price of $449.

While the aesthetic, pricey headphones have become something of a status symbol, they deliver top-notch sound to match. The noise-canceling headphones got a 4.25 Mashable Score from Mashable's Brenda Stolyar. In her review, she broke the score down further, giving the headphones a 4.5 for performance, writing that "both music and podcasts sound a lot fuller and richer than they do with the earbuds."

If you've been jonesing for an upgrade, today's early Prime Day deal can help you enjoy the Apple AirPods Max for less.

It can hold up to 26 cans and features three-inch PermaFrost Insulation and an extra thick, certified bear-resistant FatWall design to help keep your drinks and snacks cold for days. What is Amazon Prime Day? Is it different in Australia?

Prime Day is an annual online sales event, like Black Friday or Click Frenzy, but exclusive to Amazon Prime customers. It started as a one-day event in the US in 2015, but has since expanded to a five-day event that takes place across the globe, including Australia.

The first Prime Day Down Under happened in 2018, and has grown every year since. Australia is unique in that it gets one of the longest Prime "Days" in the world – this year's event goes for a whopping five days, and because of our time zone, for us it’s 5 and a half. This is because Australian users get access to deals on both Amazon.com.au and the Amazon Global Store until the conclusion of the event in the US.

Additionally, the Shop Local Businesses store highlights a number of small Australian businesses that are also partaking in the Prime Day fun.

What will be on sale this Prime Day?

While it can be difficult to predict specific products that go on sale, Amazon has promised over 100,000 deals in Australia from big brands, small local brands, and everything in-between. The brands that Amazon has confirmed will be a part of Prime Day include Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Bose, and more – a pretty hefty list!

Expect deals across all categories, including tech, such as TVs, Smart Home, Headphones, Gaming, as well as homeware, sports, fashion, beauty and more.

How to find the best deals during Prime Day in Australia

Amazon is often the cheapest place to find a particular product in Australia, but the really good deals can sometimes be a bit elusive. Of course, our list above features some of the very best tech deals available during Prime Day. However, you can also properly prepare for the event to make sure you truly get the most out of it.

Before Prime Day kicks off, you should put together a shopping list of items that you are after, then 'wishlist' those products on Amazon and set deal alerts on the Amazon app. This will ensure you don't miss top deals on products that you especially want.

Ensure you are subscribed to Amazon Prime, or else you won't be able to secure the products for the Prime Day deal price. A subscription costs A$6.99 per month, but there is a 30-day free trial available if you are just looking to take part in Prime Day and nothing else.

It is also worth spending a bit of time on Amazon and familiarising yourself with its interface and how it works. This can save you time and hassle when the deals start dropping (many of which are only available for a limited time).

How to shop on Amazon Prime Day

Of course, we'll be keeping track of all the best Prime Day deals we spot in the lists above. But if you are keen to trawl through some deals yourself, here's how to best shop during the event.

  • Amazon app: If you'll be out and about on Prime Day, download Amazon's mobile app, log in, and you'll be ready to shop wherever you are.

  • Amazon Wishlist: Add items to your wishlist in the product interface to get alerted if it goes on sale.

  • Ask Alexa: Why move at all? The main idea behind Amazon's Echo devices is to sell you stuff, so Alexa is more than willing to help you add things to your cart.

  • Amazon Global Store: Check out the best deals from the US and across the world on the Amazon Global Store.

  • Support Local: Amazon's Shop Local Business initiative highlights deals curated from small Aussie businesses across Amazon.

Starter Kit: Study smarter with these tech essentials

Mashable - Mon, 07/15/2024 - 16:33

Studying is one of the most important parts of student life, but it’s also one of the most difficult — especially if you don’t always have the discipline or desire to hit the books. That’s why it’s so necessary to do what you can to set yourself up for success whenever possible. When you make the effort to remove distractions and implement the right habits and tools, you’ll have a much better chance of hitting some solid study sessions.

How do I start studying smarter?

“Your body has a certain amount of energy and resources to allocate to biological processes, including brain power,” explains Dave Asprey, bestselling author of the book Smarter, Not Harder. “The first thing you can do is to remove friction and the things that are sucking your energy, like poor sleep, stress, or a diet full of toxins. This way you can free up energy for studying and being productive.”

From there, you’ll have the space to implement smart habits and practices that will make studying smarter easier —like tech and gear that’ll put you in the headspace to study. Studying is challenging enough as it is without all the obstacles modern students face when trying to get things done — but finding smart solutions and implementing habits and workflows that lessen the friction is well-worth putting in the effort for.

What do I need to study smarter?

“Whether it's a dorm with paper-thin walls offering no escape from noisy neighbors, or endless distractions pulling your attention away from the books at a coffee shop, carving out effective study time can feel like battling a losing war at times,” says Michael Robert, tech experts and cyber security specialist at CyberArk. You’ll want to think about the pain points you experience when studying — what holds you back from getting into the zone or really focusing and how can you mitigate the issue with a smart piece of tech?

Here are some of the best tech essentials to get your started on studying smarter this semester:
