One of the most exciting multiplayer experiences on the Nintendo Switch is undoubtedly Splatoon 3. Dive in and out of pools of colorful ink while your team of inklings and octolings assail the other team with weapons that spread the brightly-hued goop around each stage. It might sound silly, but these competitions are cutthroat. The single-player story mode is tons of fun too, and all of that is why Splatoon 3 is still such a popular choice for Switch owners.

So much so, in fact, that the series' first spinoff, Splatoon Raiders, was just announced today. It's on the way in addition to a free Splatoon 3 content update for Switch 2 owners as well. But to enjoy all these things to the fullest, well, you'll need a copy of Splatoon 3. Woot has you taken care of with that in mind, thanks to this deal.

As of June 10, get Splatoon 3 for Nintendo Switch for $41.99, down from its usual price of $59.99. That's $18 off and a discount of 30%.

As previously stated, you get both single and multiplayer modes with Splatoon 3, and there's a ton of content to wade through. That's before you add in the Expansion Pass, which gives you another adventure in the city of Inkopolis as well as the Side Order single-player story mode that builds on the original game..

The free Switch 2 upgrade for Splatoon 3 is available on June 12, and it'll add 30 new weapon kits and bring back the Splatoon map Urchin Underpass to multiplayer. There will be new in-game Badges, additional stats in the game mode Anarchy Battle, and a few other goodies, all free to anyone playing on Switch 2 as well as graphical improvements and quality of life changes.

Whether you've played the original game since launch or you want to jump in and see what it's all about, now's a good time to get a copy of the game since it's on sale.

Listen, I love to block out the world with a pair of headphones. It helps me focus when I'm hunkering down to write, or on a noisy flight, or at the gym surrounded by grunting lifters. However, when I'm on a run or walk outside, the noise cancellation feels dangerous, preventing me from being aware of my surroundings. That's why I like the Shokz OpenRun Pro, which leave your ears open to the world.

As of June 10, shop the Shokz OpenRun Pro at Amazon for $124.95, down from $179.97. That takes $55, or 31%, off the bone-conductive headphones.

Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot program loses its head

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 12:21

Elon Musk’s Optimus robotics program now teeters on shaky ground following the abrupt exit of its engineering chief.

On Friday, Milan Kovac, one of the architects behind Musk’s bid to build humanoid helpers, tendered his resignation, effective immediately. Kovac took to X shortly thereafter, calling his departure "the hardest decision of my life" and citing a longing to "spend more time with my family." A Bloomberg insider confirmed that Ashok Elluswamy, veteran leader of Tesla’s Autopilot teams, will step in as Optimus’s new engineering head.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

This marks a significant leadership shakeup for Musk, who’s been positioning robotics as Tesla's next big frontier. Optimus, however, hasn’t exactly wowed since its 2022 debut, when a prototype was famously wheeled out by humans, barely functional. Fast-forward to October: sleek demos in Los Angeles featured Optimus units slinging drinks and charming investors. But much of the “wow” factor was tempered by reports that some tasks were remotely operated by humans.

Musk envisions Optimus robots roaming our homes, tackling chores from laundry to lawn care. He’s hinted that, at scale, each unit could retail in the $20,000–$30,000 range. But with Kovac’s sudden departure, the path from concept to household appliance seems a little more uncertain.

Apple will soon be ending support for Intel-based Macs

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 12:16

During Apple's WWDC keynote yesterday, the company announced the upcoming launch of macOS Tahoe 26 — the operating system update for MacBook laptops and iMac desktops. The macOS 26 update will launch in the fall, and Apple also said this will be the final software release for Intel-based Macs. That means any iMac or MacBook not equipped with an Apple silicon chip will no longer receive future software updates post-Tahoe.

Basically, if you have a laptop with an M1, M2, M3, or M4 chip, you're safe. Some Macs released in 2019 and 2020 with Intel chips can also be upgraded to Tahoe. Older Intel Macs without support will still be usable, but they'll soon be very outdated.

This is not an unexpected development, as Apple has been distancing itself from its Intel-based machines ever since the release of the first in-house Apple silicon chip back in 2020, the M1. Once the 2023 MacBook Pro M3 was released, Apple fully stopped manufacturing new Intel Macs, and this news only further solidifies the company's Intel breakup.

Intel Macs that are compatible with Tahoe will still receive security updates for the next three years, but that's it. “Apple silicon enables us all to achieve things that were previously unimaginable, and it’s time to put all of our focus and innovation there,” Apple Senior Director of Developer Relations, Matthew Firlik, said during the WWDC keynote. “If you’ve not done so already, now is a great time to help your users migrate to the Apple silicon versions of your apps.”

SEE ALSO: Apple had an impossible task at WWDC. Here's why.

A breakdown of all macOS-Tahoe-compatible Macs can be found on Apple's website. The list is as follows:

  • MacBook Air with Apple silicon (2020 and later)

  • MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2020 and later)

  • MacBook Pro (16‑inch, 2019)

  • MacBook Pro (13‑inch, 2020, four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

  • iMac (2020 and later)

  • Mac mini (2020 and later)

  • Mac Studio (2022 and later)

  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

The next batch of Samsung foldables will be the thinnest and lightest yet

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 12:01

After years of smartphone size inflation, the tide is turning the other way.

Samsung announced in a brief, almost hilariously vague blog post on its website on Tuesday that the "the newest Galaxy Z series" will be the thinnest and lightest batch of foldables from the company to date. That's...pretty much the only bit of news in the blog post. Samsung didn't say when the foldables will be shown off, how many foldables there will be, what they will be called, or even specifically how thin and light they will be.

However, we can use a combination of common sense and leaks to fill in some of those blanks. Samsung announces new foldables every summer, so it probably won't be long now before we actually see these devices. Barring a true surprise, there will almost certainly be two foldables: The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, assuming Samsung sticks to its usual routine. If Samsung's specific verbiage in the blog post is to be trusted, both will be thinner and lighter than before.

SEE ALSO: 7 Samsung Galaxy S25 settings to change right away (and 1 you definitely shouldn't)

Beyond that, prolific tech leaker @UniverseIce on X (via TechRadar) claimed in May that the Z Fold 7 specifically will be just 3.9mm thick in its unfolded state and 8.9mm when folded. The Galaxy Z Fold 6's thickness measures in at 5.6mm when unfolded and 12.1mm when folded, for comparison's sake.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

This continues a recent trend of smartphone companies trying to make flagships (or flagship-adjacent devices) as thin as possible. Samsung recently released the Galaxy S25 Edge, a phone that is, indeed, very thin. Apple is also heavily rumored to be working on something called the "iPhone 17 Air," which would be an iPhone equivalent to what Samsung made, theoretically, anyway.

Here's hoping the battery life doesn't suffer too much from all this deflation.

Abrahams Boys trailer teases a family stalked by Dracula

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 12:00

Dracula is reframed in a coming-of-age setting in Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story, a horror that follows Bram Stoker's Van Helsing character 18 years after the events of the legendary vampire novel.

Based on Joe Hill's short story of the same name, Abraham's Boys teases a troubled 1915 rural family where the two young boys live in the shadow of an erratic father, and a mother who seems convinced (with good reason) that something unpleasant may be closing in on her.

Written and directed by Natasha Kermani (V/H/S/85), Abraham's Boys stars Titus Welliver, Jocelin Donahue, Aurora Perrineau, Judah Mackey, and Brady Hepner.

Abraham's Boys is in theaters July 11.

DMs are coming to Threads, whether you want them or not

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 12:00

Threads, Mark Zuckerberg's answer to X, has been around for nearly two years. And soon, users will finally be able to send direct messages (DMs) on the app.

Until now, anyone wanting to DM someone on Threads had to jump over to Instagram. That workaround makes some sense — you can’t have a Threads account without also having an Instagram account — but switching between apps is a clunky experience, especially on a platform built for quick, conversational posts.

SEE ALSO: How a Threads post helped me find community and beat loneliness How to send a DM onInstagram's Threads Credit: Instagram Threads

Meta, which owns Threads along with Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, says it’s starting to test an in-app DM inbox in select markets, including Hong Kong, Thailand, and Argentina. The plan is to roll the feature out more broadly in the near future.

"Our community has been asking for a way to continue their 1:1 conversations without breaking the flow by switching to another app," Threads said in a press release. "By keeping the conversation within the app, we’re making it easier for users to connect and build on each other’s perspectives."

Some users do seem eager for DMs. One post that read, "Kinda wish Threads had a DM because I rly be wanting to talk to some of you," got over 375 likes.

But not everyone is on board. Many Threads users actually seem to enjoy the platform’s DM-free simplicity. A June 3 post with more than 600 likes and 100 reposts said: "I actually love that Threads has no DMs tbh." Replies echoed the sentiment: "DM-free Threads is the reason I can actually enjoy posting again," one user said. Another wrote, "It’s why I'm never leaving." One popular post simply read, "reasons why I love Threads 1 – no one can dm you," and racked up thousands of likes.

So, will people embrace DMs on Threads? Time will tell. But whether you’re excited or dreading it, one thing’s for sure: They’re coming.

So you have a great TV already. It provides crisp 4K picture in vivid color, so you can watch all your favorite shows and movies in the best quality possible. But now that you have such a capable TV, you need a streamer to complete your set-up. While many TVs come with built-in smart TVs, an external streamer has its perks. That's why we like the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K — and it's on sale now.

As of June 10, get the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K for $29.99. That saves you $20 off its list price of $49.99 for 40% savings. That's the lowest price the streamer has hit this year. Last year, the streamer dropped all the way down to $21.99, making it its lowest price ever. So until we see that price again, $29.99 is pretty good.

Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K is a great budget streamer. For just $30, it provides access to all of your favorite streaming apps. If your number one streaming service is Prime Video, this is the best streaming device for you. It puts Prime content front and center so it's easy to access. But regardless of where you're watching, Prime will put all of your recently watched show in a convenient continue watching tab so you don't need to sort through all the apps. The streamer isn't perfect and does have a bit of lag from time to time, but for $29.99, we're not complaining.

iOS 26 lets you make custom Genmoji with ChatGPT and emoji

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 11:50

Apple's new iPhone operating system could seriously change the way you use emoji and Genmoji.

The tech giant announced and previewed iOS 26 on Monday during its highly anticipated keynote address at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). There was lots of news: a total redesign, new Maps tools, and new spam-blocking tools, to name a few.

Tucked into that waterfall of news was a big change to Genmoji and emoji. In short: You'll soon have more ability to customize your Genmoji with ChatGPT and by combining emoji. The new iOS will allow users to "mix together emoji and combine them with descriptions to create something new," Apple wrote in a press release. Apple, for example, showed off what looked like an emoji sloth discovering a good idea...which, sure, OK.

Credit: Apple

Apple also noted that iOS 26 will allow users to employ ChatGPT to customize their images and emoji. It showed, for instance, that in Image Playground users can make emoji (or images) stylized in different ways using the AI tool. An image of a beach ball, for instance, could be made to look like it was an oil painting.

These tools seemed to be aimed at spicing up your group chats. Gone are the days of a simple :) it would seem.

AirPods 4 include spatial audio, which simulates a 3D audio environment and tracks your head motions. Move your head and feel audio all around you, like you're in the mix at a live concert.

Buy today and get Apple AirPods 4 for $99, and save $30, or 23%.

Zuckerberg is reportedly assembling a superintelligence group for Meta AI

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 11:07

AI researchers, assemble!

Frustrated by Meta's progress in the AI arms race, Mark Zuckerberg is personally recruiting AI experts for a "superintelligence group," according to Bloomberg.

The report said Zuckerberg wants to assemble a supergroup with around 50 members, with the goal of achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI) and beyond. Though definitions vary, AGI generally refers to artificial intelligence that equals human intelligence. Superintelligence is the term for AI that's smarter than humans, though this remains mostly hypothetical.

Zuckerberg has reportedly gone into "founder mode," taking a hands-on approach to compete with AI rivals like Google and OpenAI. The Meta CEO was reportedly disappointed by the response to its latest model, Llama 4, which failed to outperform other frontier models on LMArena, the leaderboard where it's currently topped by Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro and OpenAI's o4 models. Then there was the whole mini scandal where Meta was caught gaming the leaderboard by submitting a version of Llama 4 that wasn't available to the public, according to The Verge.

According to Bloomberg, Zuckerberg has reportedly created a WhatsApp group with senior Meta leadership called "Recruiting Party" to brainstorm top talent and woo AI researchers, engineers, and entrepreneurs to join the Meta supergroup. The report says Zuckerberg has been hosting lunches and dinners to personally recruit members. According to a separate report from the New York Times, Meta is offering compensation packages of seven to nine figures. The Times also said Scale AI CEO Alexendr Wang is joining the group.

The superintelligence lab would try to improve Llama performance and develop new AI tools and features that can eventually be integrated into the Meta AI chatbot on Meta platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta has also rebooted its AI glasses efforts and is reportedly planning to include facial recognition technology and position the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses as a smarter virtual assistant.

Google is also working on AI-powered XR glasses, and OpenAI is similarly exploring an omnipresent AI companion with a device developed in partnership with Jony Ive's startup io.

Disclosure: Ziff Davis, Mashable’s parent company, in April filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging it infringed Ziff Davis copyrights in training and operating its AI systems.

Too Much trailer: Lena Dunham and Megan Stalter team up for a London rom-com

Mashable - Tue, 06/10/2025 - 11:00

Girls creator Lena Dunham returns to TV with Too Much, another story about a complicated, messy woman trying to find herself (and love) in the big city. This time, though, Dunham swaps New York for London, and her leading lady is none other than Hacks' Megan Stalter.

Stalter plays Jessica, a workaholic in her mid-thirties whose longterm relationship has just come to a devastating end. Needing a change of scenery from her New York life, she takes a job in London. There, she hopes to live out her own Bridget Jones's Diary or Notting Hill rom-com fantasy.

Her actual London reality — a cramped flat, screaming neighbors — leaves much to be desired. But when she meets musician Felix (Will Sharpe, The White Lotus), she discovers a connection she can't quite shake. (Even if he's littered with red flags.)

Check out Stalter and Sharpe's chemistry in the trailer above, where they bicker about the differences between Americans and Brits, make out around London, and even spit in each other's mouths during sex. (It's a Lena Dunham show, what else would you expect?)

Plus, get a sneak peek at Too Much's star-studded guest cast, including Andrew Scott, Naomi Watts, Kit Harington, Jennifer Saunders, and Jessica Alba.

Co-created by Dunham and Luis Felber, Too Much also stars Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Leo Reich, Daisy Bevan, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rita Wilson, Rita Ora, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, Stephen Fry, Kaori Momoi, and Adwoa Aboah.

Too Much premieres July 10 on Netflix.
