While a random Tuesday in January doesn't seem like it would have many deals to offer, Amazon likes to prove us all wrong. We've been dealt a handful of epic deals on Jan. 14, including price drops on Amazon's own devices and a few standouts from Google, Garmin, and Anker Soundcore.

Here are our top picks for the best Amazon deals of the day. None of these catching your eye? Check out our picks from yesterday, Jan. 13. Many of those are still live, including a $100 price drop on the iPad Mini 7.

Our top pick: Amazon Fire HD 8 Opens in a new window Credit: Amazon Amazon Fire HD 8 $64.99 at Amazon
$99.99 Save $35.00 Get Deal

Amazon quietly dropped a new Fire HD 8 tablet in October with a few big upgrades over the previous generation — 50 percent more RAM for a smoother performance (3GB vs. 2GB), an improved camera (5MP vs. 2MP), and new generative AI-powered features. Otherwise, it's still packs the same solid battery life, storage options, and display. It's already seen a few significant discounts and as of Jan. 14, is back down to just $64.99 — that's 35% in savings and just $10 away from its best price ever.

Google Pixel 8a Opens in a new window Credit: Google Google Pixel 8a $399.00 at Amazon

The Google Pixel 8a is aready a budget-friendly version of the Pixel 8, but with this $100 discount, it's even lighter on your wallet. The 8a shares many of the same specs as the 8, including the Tensor G3 chip, over 24-hour battery life, Magic Editor and Magic Take camera tools, 128 and 256GB storage options, 8GB RAM, and up to 120Hz refresh rate. Its main differences lie in its size (it's slightly taller and wide with a slightly smaller display), audio (no spatial audio, one less microphone), and camera. If those things aren't a big deal for you, Mashable's Alex Perry called it "the best deal in Android-land."

Check out our full review of the Google Pixel 8a.

Amazon Echo Opens in a new window Credit: Amazon Amazon Echo $64.99 at Amazon

Sleek and simple, the Amazon Echo is one of the best ways to introduce Alexa into your household. The fourth-generation smart speaker delivers premium Dolby sound whether you're jamming to your favorite tunes or just asking it about the weather. It also serves as a central hub where you can connect and control your other smart gadgets via voice commands. It's older than the similar Echo Dot speaker, but is larger and has better sound quality overall. As of Jan. 14, it's back on sale for $64.99, or 35% off. While that's not as good as its Black Friday price of $49.99, it definitely beats paying full price.

They specifically credited the secure fit, strong audio performance, and excellent battery life — which tops off at 50 hours — for the "excellent" rating and PCMag Editors' Choice award. Of course, the price is also a major selling point. As of Jan. 14, these buds are down to just $44.99 form $79.99. That's 44% in savings and the best price to date.

Garmin Venu 3S Opens in a new window Credit: Garmin Garmin Venu 3S $349.99 at Amazon

The smaller version of the Garmin Venu 3, the Venu 3S features a 41mm case instead of 45mm and slightly shorter battery life. Otherwise, it's basically the same watch that ticks all the right boxes — smart features, health features, fitness features, and more. It has impressive health metrics and fitness tools, in-depth recovery advice, detailed sleep data, and a speaker and microphone for hands-free calls and virtual assistant access. Plus, like every Garmin watch, it has a battery that'll put the Apple Watch to shame. It's usually $449.99, but you can slash 22% off as of Jan. 14 and pick it up for only $349.99. The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep trailer: Geralt of Rivia battles sea monsters

Mashable - 7 hours 45 min ago

Netflix continues to expand on the world of The Witcher with the upcoming anime film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.

Directed by Kang Hei Chul and produced by The Witcher series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Sirens of the Deep sees Geralt of Rivia (voiced by Doug Cockle, Geralt's voice in The Witcher games) in the middle of a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. A series of attacks on a seaside town threatens to escalate this conflict into an all-out war, so it's up to Geralt to get to the bottom of things before it's too late.

SEE ALSO: 'The Witcher' gave a first look at Liam Hemsworth's Geralt and people have thoughts

Thankfully, he won't be alone! His faithful bard Jaskier (voiced by Joey Batey, reprising his role from the show) is by his side, along with new ally Essi Daven (voiced by Christina Wren). Anya Chalotra also returns to voice sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, but from the looks of the trailer, Yennefer and Geralt are not on good terms at the moment.

On top of introducing Geralt's team, the Sirens of the Deep trailer also teases several large-scale sea monster battles, along with the merpeople's gorgeous underwater kingdom. Let's get monster hunting, people!

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep premieres Feb. 11 on Netflix.

The Mac Mini is a powerful creator's computer with a small footprint. Bring it on stage for latency-free live musical performances, connect it to a screen and use it as your main desktop, or build out an industrial process with it as the main hub. This larger version might be from 2018 but it still has power.

Currently the Mac Mini i7 32GB RAM 128GB PCIe SSD is available for a deal price of $329.99 at Woot! saving you $170, or 34%.

SEE ALSO: New Satechi hub fixes the most annoying thing about the Mac mini

This Mac Mini's 32GB of RAM is the star of the show. You won't find a laptop with that much computing memory for near this price. Its i7 3.2GHz 6-core 8th Gen processor is dated, but still powerful, especially when it's running with all of that RAM.

Four Thunderbolt-3 cables make sure you can transfer data in and out faster than an eye can blink (or a USB-C can churn data). Use these for screens, external hard drives, an eGPU, and more.

Right now, this Mac Mini i7 32GB RAM 128GB PCIe SSD deal is available from Woot! for only $329.99, saving you $170.

Whether you're planning to start a business that needs strong computing power, you're a DJ who wants to run Ableton Live flawlessly on stage, or you're simply looking for a good computer for less, this deal is not to be missed.

Back in Action trailer: Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz kick butt in spy comedy

Mashable - 8 hours 29 min ago

Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz are married spies on a mission in Netflix's upcoming espionage comedy Back in Action.

SEE ALSO: 2025 movie preview: All the films you'll want to know about

The film, which marks Diaz's comeback to acting after 11 years, follows former CIA agents Matt (Foxx) and Emily (Diaz) as they are forced back into the spy game when their cover is blown. The news of their old lives comes as a major shock to their children (McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson), who view them as normal parents. After all, as they point out in the trailer, Matt and Emily are in a pickleball league and they make their own sourdough. How could they be spies?

Luckily, Matt and Emily spend the rest of the Back in Action trailer proving their talents in spycraft with car chases and fistfights. The trailer also teases Back in Action's considerably stacked supporting cast, including Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy), Kyle Chandler (Mayor of Kingstown), Andrew Scott (Ripley), and Jamie Demetriou (The Afterparty).

Back in Action premieres Jan. 17 on Netflix.

Watch: Until Dawn movies first look has landed

Mashable - 8 hours 55 min ago

In 2015, Until Dawn was the video game that dared to put horror fans to the test, asking if they had what it took to survive a slasher movie. Written by indie horror icon Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, this Supermassive Game put players in the shoes of a band of teen friends, who reconvene at an icy and remote mountain cabin on the anniversary of a horrid prank, which led to two of their friends going missing. Now, something's in the woods and out for blood. And as players switch characters and make life-and-death decisions, the biggest question is who will survive until dawn.

Sony published the hit game and is now producing the movie adaptation, which tweaks the premise, setting, and characters to give audiences something unexpected.

SEE ALSO: 2025 movie preview: All the films you'll want to know about

Here's the official synopsis from Sony Entertainment:

One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again — only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.

In the first look above, writer/producer Gary Dauberman and director David F. Sandberg give us a glimpse at what this Until Dawn has in store — including that the movie will show us ways the characters could die (like the totems in the game?), and then as Sandberg puts it, "things start over and they get to try again." Will working this game mechanic into the game make for fresh thrills? We can't wait to find out.

Where the original game starred the likes of Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, and Jordan Fisher, the movie version reveals a new slate of stars: Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, and Maia Mitchell. And seemingly reprising his role as Dr. Alan J. Hill is the dependably unnerving Peter Stormare.

Until Dawn is coming to theaters in 2025.
