The world is too loud these days. While you can't control how loud others are, you can control how much you personally hear from them. All you need is a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones, and the Sonos Ace are a great option if you're in the market for some. Right now, they're $100 off the original price at Amazon, just $349 for headphones that are of similar quality to our beloved Bose QuietComfort Ultra.

Of course, the star of the show here is the active noise cancellation, which should help you stay immersed and away from outside-world disturbances. And for when you actually do need to pay attention to your surroundings, the headphones also feature an Aware mode.

Looking for a good Ruggable dupe? Rugs USAs machine-washable rugs are all 30% off.

Mashable - 3 hours 30 min ago

SAVE 30% SITEWIDE: As of Feb. 4, all machine-washable rugs at Rugs USA are an extra 30% off with code GET30.

Opens in a new window Credit: Rugs USA Save 30% sitewide with code GET30 Get Deal

Finding a low-stakes washable rug doesn't necessarily have to just mean waiting for a Ruggable sale (though those do happen often). You could also try out a Ruggable dupe, like Rugs USA. That selection is inherently cheaper than Ruggable at full price — but with the current 30% off sitewide sale that's going on, bringing home a massive machine-washable 8 x 10 rug could easily cost you no more than $300.

The 30% discount unlocks when you enter code GET30 and applies to everything on the site but clearance. (Rugs already on sale are still safe to get the extra discount as long as they're not officially on clearance.)

SEE ALSO: I've tested 20+ robot vacuums and these are the best for every budget in 2025

With free rein to use this code, you'll be hard-pressed not to find the right rug for you — Rugs USA has serious options. Eligible collections past the classic patterns you're expecting include an extra absorbent, spill-proof series, indoor/outdoor rugs, designer collabs, cute patterns for kids' rooms, plus categories divvied up by feel, like plush or shag. Size wise, there are runners, huge 12-foot x 15-foot area options, round rugs, and everything in between.

Rugs USA has mastered the elusive washable fluffy rug. Credit: Rugs USA

Washing these rugs is as easy as you're hoping. Unlike Ruggable rugs, which require you to separate the rug from the rug pad before washing, Rugs USA rugs are ready to peel off the floor and pop in the washing machine on cold. (You can obviously buy a pad if you want to, but Mashable contributor RJ Anderson wasn't psyched on the constant adjustments required to keep the Ruggable on its pad.) Hang drying is recommended.

While there are no major shopping holidays on the horizon, that doesn't mean there aren't deals to shop. Deals simply for the sake of deals are our favorite kind and there are plenty to choose from. We've done the hard part for you and handpicked some gems at Amazon that we think are worth grabbing — with standouts from Sonos, Fitbit, and Dyson.

Here are our picks for the best Amazon deals of the day on Feb. 4. If these aren't getting the job done, take a look at our picks from yesterday, Feb. 3. Many of those discounts are still live, including a 22% price drop on the AirPods 4.

Our top pick: Sonos Ace Opens in a new window Credit: Sonos Sonos Ace $349.00 at Amazon

Not quite a year old, the Sonos Ace headphones are a first from the audio brand. They knocked it out of the park with these babies; not only are they aesthetically a 10, but they also boast exceptional sound quality and spatial audio, and pack a stellar 30-hour battery life with ANC. We wish the ear cup seal was tighter to improve the noise cancellation, but overall, Mashable Deputy Reviews Editor Miller Kern still said she would recommend the Sonos Ace to "true audiophiles who value incredible sound quality above all else." Usually the Ace headphones cost $449, but you can save $100 as of Feb. 4 at Amazon.

It packs a massive selection of built-in fitness features, notable design and usability upgrades, and a responsive touch screen. It costs $199.95 on a regular day, but is down to just $149.95 as of Feb. 4 at Amazon.

While it's not rare to see Dyson's coveted hair tool go on sale, it is a bit harder to find the unique shades getting steep discounts. So, we had to feature this deal on the Strawberry Bronze and Blush Pink version. As of Feb. 4, you can grab the special edition Airwrap Complete (which comes with seven accessories) for $499 instead of $599.99. Debating if it's worth it? The Airwrap is the only multi-styler on the market that doesn't require two different curling barrels to change curl direction. Not to mention, it has the most attachments of any multi-styler and comes with a case for storage.

A good rug can change the entire vibe of your home. Seriously, if you're working with mostly naked floors, you might want to consider getting an area rug to make things feel more welcoming. Buy the right one, and it can really bring a room together.

By far the worst thing about rugs, though, is that they can quickly get expensive. That's why it's a good idea to pick one up during a big sale, and lucky for you, we found a good one. For a limited time, Revival is hosting a buy two rugs, get 20% off sale — a fantastic option if you're looking to shop for more than one room.

SEE ALSO: Need a robot vacuum that actually works on carpet? These 3 did the best in my home.

Revival's rugs are not only stylish, but also super convenient because they're totally machine-washable (they remind us a lot of Ruggable's offerings). They don't necessarily have to break the bank, either. Some are as cheap as $79 depending on what size you get, and most of their styles range from runners to large-area-covering rugs. You'll also get free shipping, and first-time customers can get $40 off. To take advantage of the BOGO sale, all you need to do is add two rugs to your cart. After that, the discount will be automatically added at checkout (if that doesn't work, just type in code BUY2GET20 in the promo box). Now get to shopping before you miss out on the sale — we can't wait to see what your living room makeover looks like.

Our favorite dupe for the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is on sale at Walmart

Mashable - 3 hours 55 min ago

SAVE $14: As of Feb. 4, the Laifen Swift hair dryer is on sale for $125.99 at Walmart with a coupon. It usually retails for $139.99, so shoppers save 10%. Elsewhere, it's completely sold out.

Opens in a new window Credit: Laifen Laifen Swift $125.99 at Walmart
$139.99 Save $14.00 with on-page coupon (Walmart account required) Get Deal

The Dyson Supersonic is an aesthetically stunning hair dryer that's quiet, fast, light, powerful, and designed to minimize heat damage while smoothing hair, but its $429.99 price tag puts it firmly in "splurge" territory. Enter: dupes.

After testing a bunch of low-cost blow dryers from established brands, Mashable's Lead Shopping Reporter Bethany Allard found that the Laifen Swift best replicated the sleek look of the Supersonic and what she called "the Supersonic experience": It dries hair in a way that "feels quick, easy, and at least a little luxurious," Allard wrote. Crucially, the Laifen Swift also retails for a more palatable $139.99 — and as of Feb. 4, it's on sale for even less.

The black and silver variants of the Swift are marked down to $125.99 at Walmart with the help of a $14 on-page coupon. (You'll need to create or sign in to a free Walmart account to see it.) That isn't a huge discount, admittedly — it works out to 10% off — but it's a decent deal considering the Swift is sold out in every color on the Laifen website, and that's your only other buying option.

SEE ALSO: I tried 5 Dyson Supersonic dupes that are actually worth the hype

Compact enough for travel and easy stashing, the Swift is super lightweight, weighing in at just 0.89 pounds. (It's almost a whole pound lighter than the Supersonic.) It features two air speeds and three heat settings that are indicated by a color-changing ring light on the back of the device. In her testing, Allard "almost never found myself needing to go beyond the first [air speed]," finding it strong enough to rough-dry a full head of wet hair before bed. She was also content to stick with the two lower heat settings (cool or warm), as the highest one got almost too hot.

While the Supersonic comes with five magnetic attachments, the Swift only includes a single smooth nozzle. For extra concentrator and diffuser nozzles, the Laifen Swift Special package is an upgrade option: at the time of writing, it's on sale at Walmart and the Laifen website for $143.99 (or $16 off).

As of Feb. 4, you can get the Hisense 100-inch U76 Series 4K QLED Smart TV for just $1,799.99 at Amazon, down from its usual price of $2,999.99. That's $1,200 off and a discount of 40%.

SEE ALSO: The Nvidia Shield TV is on sale for $129.99 — easily the best 4K streaming box you can buy

Hisense has a line of some incredibly high-quality TVs, and this is one of them. You'll get vibrant colors, deep dark hues, and crisp color for just about anything you want to watch, just at a much larger size than you might be used to.

This massive 100-inch screen offers a bezel-less design with ULED tech as well as full array local dimming zones that can automatically and dynamically adjust so you get brighter, crisper colors where you need them. Plus, it supports Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos for the best colors and audio you can get. And with a 120Hz refresh rate, it's great for gaming, too.

You'll want to hop on this massive discount while you can, because this size of a TV is well worth locking in while it's still here. It'll likely sell out quickly at this price, especially since it's lower than its late January price at Best Buy.

Watch: Fantastic Four: First Steps teaser: Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and company power up

Mashable - 5 hours 2 min ago

The Marvel Cinematic Universe takes a wonderfully retrofuturistic turn in the first teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision).

SEE ALSO: 2025 movie preview: All the films you'll want to know about

On top of bringing us into a 1960s-inspired world, the teaser introduces the MCU's take on Marvel's First Family. Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, Gladiator II) plays the extra-stretchy, extra-brilliant Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby (Napoleon) joins him as the forcefield-wielding Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Rounding out the team are Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm/The Thing, who has superhuman strength and invulnerability, and Joseph Quinn (A Quiet Place: Day One, Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, who has flame (on) powers.

Based on the teaser, it looks like Fantastic Four: First Steps won't be a retread of the Fantastic Four's origin story. They already have their powers and are preparing to face off against fearsome foes like Galactus (Ralph Ineson, Nosferatu) and Silver Surfer (Julia Garner, Wolf Man).

While our first look at Galactus and the Fantastic Four's powers are neat, it's the domestic scenes of the Fantastic Four's family life that really shine in this teaser. Come for Johnny Storm lighting up, stay for Ben Grimm praising robot H.E.R.B.I.E.'s cooking.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25.

An object left a big gash on Mars. It also spawned a quake.

Mashable - 5 hours 9 min ago

Quakes shake Mars all the time. But many of these temblors originate in outer space.

NASA's InSight lander recorded over 1,300 marsquakes between 2018 and 2022, including some monster temblors. Now, a novel analysis paired imagery captured by Mars-orbiting spacecraft with these unprecedented seismic detections to show that impacts on Mars aren't just common — they also commonly shake the Red Planet.

"Not one, but two recent related papers in the Geophysical Research Letters scientific journal suggest that quite a few of the seismic events recorded by InSight, previously thought to originate from tectonic sources, could actually be caused by meteor strikes," the European Space Agency said in a statement.

SEE ALSO: NASA spotted a big asteroid that may hit Earth — what you should know

The researchers used machine-learning technology to sleuth through a daunting load of imagery from three different spacecraft to find 49 quakes that match with impacts recorded by the InSight lander (which deployed a dome-shaped seismometer on the Martian ground). Ultimately, the researchers concluded that such meteor strikes happen on Mars some 1.5 to 2.5 times more than previous observations suggested.

The image below, taken by the European Space Agency's Trace Gas Orbiter (which arrived at Mars in 2016), shows one of the fresh impacts that researchers say stoked a marsquake. The space rock struck some 1,640 kilometers, or 1,020 miles away, but produced a sizable 21-meter (69-foot) wide crater and blasted impact eject around the area.

A relatively recent impact site in the Cerberus Fossae region of Mars. Credit: ESA On top: Two large impact sites spotted by Mars-orbiting spacecraft (including the 21-meter impact shown above). On bottom: 10 recently created impact sites larger than 10 meters across. Credit: ESA / TGO / CaSSIS CC-BY-SA 3.0 IGO / NASA / JPL / University of Arizona / MSSS

Mars is far more susceptible to meteorite impacts than Earth. When objects do collide with Mars, the Martian atmosphere is just 1 percent the volume of Earth's, meaning these space rocks are less likely to heat up and disintegrate. What's more, the Red Planet is much closer to our solar system's asteroid belt, a region teeming with millions of asteroids.

Understanding how meteors impact Mars is important to the space agencies, like NASA, planning to visit, and one day potentially colonize, the Red Planet. "Additional data on impact rates and crater sizes will help evaluate potential risks to robots, humans, and habitats during future Mars missions," the European Space Agency said.

Robotic missions continue to reveal lots about this frigid desert world, located an average of 140 million miles from Earth. NASA's Perseverance rover spotted potential — but still far from conclusive — past evidence of ancient microbial Martian life. Perseverance's sibling, the Curiosity rover, has found compelling evidence that Mars once hosted warm, hospitable, watery environs. And the InSight lander revealed that water may exist today many miles down, deeply hidden in the Martian crust.

First porn app approved for the iPhone in Europe. Apple isnt happy.

Mashable - 5 hours 42 min ago

For the first time, a porn app will be available in an alternative Apple app store. But the company would strongly prefer if it were not the case.

The app is called Hot Tub, and its developer, Riley Testut, says the app has been approved by Apple (per The Verge). The app is actually being marketed as the "first Apple-approved porn app".

View on Threads

This is only partially true. While the app has passed Apple's Notarisation process that ensures the app is safe, Apple is adamantly against porn on its App Store.

The app will be available on AltStore PAL, which is an alternative app store. These are only available in Europe, due to the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which mandates that large companies such as Apple have to offer alternative marketplaces for apps.

Apple does not allow pornographic apps in its App Store, but the alternative app stores are allowed to have different rules. In particular, AltStore PAL doesn't appear to explicitly prohibit any type of apps. "All apps are welcome," wrote Testut in an announcement blog post.

"We are deeply concerned about the safety risks that hardcore porn apps of this type create for EU users, especially kids. This app and others like it will undermine consumer trust and confidence in our ecosystem that we have worked for more than a decade to make the best in the world. Contrary to the false statements made by the marketplace developer, we certainly do not approve of this app and would never offer it in our App Store. The truth is that we are required by the European Commission to allow it to be distributed by marketplace operators like AltStore and Epic who may not share our concerns for user safety," Apple said in a statement to The Verge.

The Hot Tub app is described as an "adult content browser," and it will be available for iPhone on Tuesday, February 4, but only for folks in the EU. The app will be available here (link NSFW).
