The Defense Department has marked thousands of pieces of archival material and posts for deletion, complying with President Trump's crusade against anything resembling Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) mandates — including apparently unrelated materials and references flagged by keyword searches.
Among the materials set to be removed from government websites and social media posts are written mentions of WWII veteran history and (at least) 26,000 archival images, reported the Associated Press, including information on Medal of Honor recipients, all women crews, and the Enola Gay, the U.S. military aircraft that dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima in 1945.
SEE ALSO: U.S. immigration services wants to review potential citizens' social mediaThe purge is intended to erase specific military-related mentions of women and minorities — social media posts and website pages that commemorate historic events, but are also inclusive of diversity, are also at risk for removal. The keyword searches for "DEI" content aren't exactly an efficient system, the AP found in its investigation, with posts and image captions that use the term "Gay" (to designate the historical aircraft or, even, a veteran's last name) marked for removal in the database. Information on Army Corps biologists studying the weight, size, and gender of fish were also flagged, as well as seemingly random photos with captions like, “Deadlift contenders raise the bar pound by pound” and “Minnesota brothers reunite in Kuwait.” While some photos and pages have already been deleted, others remain, and it isn't clear what falls under the department's grounds for removal.
An insider told the AP that the purge could result in the deletion of 100,000 images and posts across all military branches, but some workers are attempting to save and screenshot the materials before they are gone. “We are pleased by the rapid compliance across the Department with the directive removing DEI content from all platforms," said Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot. "In the rare cases that content is removed that is out of the clearly outlined scope of the directive, we instruct components accordingly.”
The removal order was given by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in February, who recently purged DEI mentions and programs from U.S. military schools and ordered the military to disqualify and ban transgender Americans, expanding an exclusion law put in place under Trump's first term. The Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency ("DOGE") recently argued that the cancellation of Defense Department DEI contracts would save $80 million in government spending. The agency has recently been accused of inflating projected savings figures.
I wouldn't describe my TikTok FYP a spiritual journey — it's mostly food, sports, Bravo stuff, dogs, and weird internet humor. Yet lately, I’ve noticed a surge of religious comments popping up under some of the more viral TikToks on my feed, and they’re quickly rising to the top.
It's unclear how this started, but I'm not alone. Folks on the Christianity subreddit are wondering where this all came from, too. It's so pervasive that some people wonder if it's bot activity, which feels likely.
"Okay but like, it's one thing to be a comment in every tiktok, I'm getting it on EVERY comment on tiktok now. It's obnoxious and it's just spam now," read a top comment under the Reddit discussion.
SEE ALSO: The 'Trump take egg' meme is an absurdly layered jokeI've noticed that most of the comments follow a similar script. They mention that Jesus died for your sins and attempt to spread the Christian gospel. Some even acknowledge that copy-paste is an attempt to spread the gospel. Here are a few instances I screenshot over the last few days.
Credit: Screenshots: TikTokTypically, these comments have appeared under relatively viral TikToks. Some are from corporate accounts or advertised posts, which seem like natural places to spam comments.
The Christian comments have seemingly gotten so pervasive that folks are now mocking them. I've now seen a couple of instances of folks copying the cadence of the Jesus comments while praising, well, Satan.
Credit: Screenshots: TikTokIt's a natural progression of anything on the internet. The religious comments read like something you'd get on Facebook — Boomers happily copy-pasting share this to show LOVE for your GOD — which has since morphed into sarcasm. It's only a matter of time before the ways we mock the initial comments overtake the comments themselves. For instance, I've already seen people take the pro-Christian script and rephrase to praise LeBron James.
So, if you see a lot of comments about God on TikTok in the coming weeks, at least you know you're not alone.

Previously on Yellowjackets, the girls held a trial for Coach Ben (Steven Krueger), accusing him of burning down the cabin at the end of last season. Was it a fair trial? Far from it. But once convicted, things only got bleaker for the only grown-up in the wilderness. Then, episode 5, "Did Tai Do That?" ends with a gut-churning twist.
But what does this mean for Coach and the remaining Yellowjackets? Let's get into it, and by "it," I mean deep spoiler terrain.
Why don't they execute the coach on Yellowjackets? Jasmin Savoy Brown as teen Taissa in "Yellowjackets." Credit: Kailey Schwerman / Paramount+ with SHOWTIME.Look, their teammates have died for far less than burning down the cabin. And even if Team Mashable thinks the coach is innocent, the girls have decided execution was justice.
Like they used the playing cards to pick their sacrifice in the past with a Queen of Hearts, the team uses the deck to select who will be the executioner. By pulling the King of Hearts (aka a Suicide King), that dubious honor goes to Tai.
While preparing with target practice, Tai worries to Van that she won't be able to pull the trigger when the time comes. Here's where the allusion implied in the episode title comes in. "Did Tai Do That?" is a spin on Steve Urkel's catchphrase on Family Matters: Did I do that? In the wilderness, Van suggests Tai do like Urkel, bring on her "cool" alter-ego to do the thing she's afraid to do — in this case, killing Ben. Good news: It works. A stoic expression locks on Van, then Ben, as Tai readies to shoot on execution day. The bad news? Tai's alter ego will definitely come back to bite her as adult!
However, the execution is stopped at the very last moment by a rampaging Travis and Lottie. Akilah has had a vision: Ben is their "bridge" to getting home. Therefore, he must live. Bad news for Ben; he'll be kept in the animal pen and treated worse than the rabbits.
Why does Melissa cut Coach Ben? Silvana Estifanos as teen Britt, Vanessa Prasad as teen Gen, Jenna Burgess as teen Melissa, Anisa Harris as teen Robin and Steven Krueger as Ben Scott in "Yellowjackets." Credit: Kailey Schwerman / Paramount+ with SHOWTIMEThough in charge of the team, Nat couldn't save the coach from execution, so she's relieved at the prophet's intervention. But Shauna isn't satisfied. Under her direction, Shauna's new girlfriend Melissa goes to the tied-up coach and takes Shauna's hunting knife to his remaining ankle. Peer pressure is real, and really scary on Yellowjackets.
The coach screams. Shauna and Melissa look excited. "He won't be going anywhere," Shauna says proudly.
To this Nat jeers, "You don't have to enjoy it this much."
It's not just that injuring the coach's only leg will make it harder for him to escape them. The place where Melissa cuts is strategic. She aimed for the Achilles tendon, which would make walking very difficult for someone with two legs, and basically impossible for the coach, whose other leg was severed by Misty back in Season 1 (to save his life, to her credit!). Now, he has no chance at escape... except for death.
From there, Shauna and Melissa make their relationship campfire official, joining bloodied hands as they enter Shauna's hut together.
How much longer will Ben last? Will he be their next feast? We'll find out on Yellowjackets.
Yellowjackets Season 3 are now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime, with new episodes weekly.

In true RuPaul's Drag Race champion fashion, Bob the Drag Queen has dropped a scorching new single to promote her latest project. The reality TV icon who wowed (and was Boston Robbed) on Traitors is releasing his first novel, Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert, later this month. But before this much-anticipated book drops on March 25, enjoy its tie-in song, "Queen of the Underground."
In the video above, Bob the Drag Queen channels Tubman for the lyrics and costume. Fans of Bob might remember from his appearance on Showtime's taboo-rattling talk show Ziwe, his high opinion of Tubman as a badass (who could totally beat Spider-Man in a face-off). Produced by PEG records, "Queen of the Underground" has Bob the Drag Queen laying down the incredible facts of Tubman's life and hands-on abolitionism with a amped-up anthem vibe.
But how does that connect to Bob's book?
Well, Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert imagines what would happen if this true legend of American history were to record her own album with the help of a once-heralded record producer. Hamil-who? This is the kind of inspired genre-bending fans have come to expect from Bob the Drag Queen, who can appear in full Maleficent-inspired drag while casually referencing To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Love, Julie Newmar. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, treat yourself to Season 2 of Dimension 20's sassy spinoff, Dungeons and Drag Queens.
On top of being a wildly fun ride, that Dropout show will make the wait until Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert arrives go by a bit faster. Or hey, check to see if Bob is coming to a store near you on the book tour.

In what can only be described as tremendously good news, Daylight Saving Time hits this weekend, meaning we'll spring forward and inch closer to those long summer nights.
But when exactly are our clocks due for the change?
The clocks will change one hour forward at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 9. That means in the wee hours of Sunday, it'll suddenly switch to 3 a.m. as we hit what would've been 2 a.m. The bad news? You're losing an hour of sleep. The good news? There will be extra daylight at the end of the day.
SEE ALSO: When the clocks change for Daylight Saving Time, and why we do it at allNow, to be clear, you have nothing to do with your devices. Pretty much every modern phone, computer, or smart watch will make the shift automatically. However, you might have to manually change the times on your oven, microwave, and coffeemaker to avoid it looking like a black hole opened in your kitchen.
Experts have warned that Daylight Saving Time can lead to adverse health effects, such as increased fatigue and reduced focus, which can cause serious downstream health problems. It's important to limit any sleep loss due to changes in time.
But for me, personally, I can't wait for the sun to be up a bit longer.
The Athena moon lander beamed home a poignant lunar view. Soon after, its mission ended.
After performing excellently on its flight to and around the moon, Intuitive Machine's Athena spacecraft experienced a landing mishap that resulted in the 15-foot-tall robot lying on its side. The Houston-based aerospace company released an image from the askew craft on March 7, with shadowed Earth in the distance. It's lying in a crater some 250 meters, or 820 feet, from its intended landing site.
From this problematic position, the privately-built but NASA-funded lander likely cannot produce power to operate.
"With the direction of the sun, the orientation of the solar panels, and extreme cold temperatures in the crater, Intuitive Machines does not expect Athena to recharge," Intuitive Machines said in a statement. "The mission has concluded and teams are continuing to assess the data collected throughout the mission."
SEE ALSO: The U.S. is exploring a railroad for the moon. It has a good reason.Landing on the moon remains daunting, largely because it's a world with virtually no atmosphere to slow spacecraft down. A craft must plummet to the surface almost perfectly, as thrusters fire to slow its descent onto a surface teeming with pits and craters. Although the company Firefly Aerospace completed a successful moon touchdown on March 2, and Chinese and Indian craft have had recent landing successes, Intuitive Machines' first lunar spacecraft Odysseus sustained damage while landing awkwardly in 2024. The same year, a Japanese craft landed upside down, on its head.
"I think we can agree, particularly today, that landing on the moon is extremely hard," Nicola Fox, who leads NASA's Science Mission Directorate, said at an agency news conference on March 6 after the company revealed a probable landing mishap.
A view of the Athena lander on the lunar surface with Earth in the background. Credit: Intuitive Machines This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.Intuitive Machines, however, didn't venture to the relatively well-trodden equatorial areas previously visited by Apollo astronauts. It descended into the dark and shadowy south pole region, a resource-rich area, but one with precious landing conditions. "This southern pole region is lit by harsh sun angles and limited direct communication with the Earth," the company said. "This area has been avoided due to its rugged terrain and Intuitive Machines believes the insights and achievements from IM-2 will open this region for further space exploration."
With Athena's mission over, it appears that a key objective of the mission – a NASA drill intended to bore some three feet into the lunar ground in search of water ice and other resources – won't perform as planned. (Intuitive Machines noted, somewhat opaquely, that it was "able to accelerate several program and payload milestones," including this drill, before losing power.)
"I think we can agree, particularly today, that landing on the moon is extremely hard."The search for water ice on the moon is a pivotal part of NASA's lunar ambitions. Harvesting water ice, the space agency has emphasized, is crucial for making drinkable water, oxygen, and fuel for rockets. Over eons, comets and meteors striking the moon could have transported bounties of water to the moon's surface. But without finding and mining this ice, the U.S. cannot establish a permanent presence on the moon, a pivotal part of its Artemis program.
This Intuitive Machines mission was funded by NASA as part of its Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, which it hopes will set the stage for its lunar presence. In the coming years, NASA intends to land astronauts on the moon, too. The agency currently expects to bring astronauts to the moon in mid-2027, wherein they'll spend a week exploring eerie craters of the moon's south pole.

"As customers prepare to refresh and renew this spring season, we're excited to announce Amazon's Big Spring Sale!" one mod wrote in a Feb. 27 post titled "Big Deal Energy - Get Ready for Amazon’s Big Spring Sale 2025." (It was public at the time of writing.) "This is the perfect opportunity to connect with customers during their annual spring cleaning efforts."
Amazon's first official press release about last year's Big Spring Sale went out on March 14, so expect this year's confirmation to land sometime in mid-March, if it is indeed happening. Read on for the Mashable Shopping team's date and deal predictions in the meantime.
Possible Amazon Big Spring Sale datesWe have two possible clues as to when this year's Big Spring Sale will be held. One is a line in a mod's Amazon Seller Central post about it that says, "Prime-exclusive discounts for this event may be submitted through March 31, 2025." Let's assume the event itself goes through that date.
Our other clue lies in the timing of last year's Big Spring Sale, which ran from Wednesday, March 20, through Monday, March 25. Let's assume Amazon sticks with the same Wednesday-through-Monday formatting. (Having covered Amazon events like Prime Day since 2018, we know that Amazon is a creature of habit when it comes to scheduling.)
With that in mind, we'll make an educated guess that Amazon's 2025 Big Spring Sale will be live from Wednesday, March 26, through Monday, March 31. We'll update this story if and when the dates are confirmed.
Possible Big Spring Sale dealsIn a separate post about submitting discounts for this year's Big Spring Sale, another Seller Central mod encouraged merchants to "consider deals" within the categories of home/living, apparel, beauty, outdoor/recreation, sporting equipment, and "other seasonally relevant categories!" Look for lots of deals related to warm-weather activities and spring cleaning.
SEE ALSO: E-commerce sites like Temu and Amazon are liable for faulty goods, according to EU planWe also expect Amazon to offer some of the season's best deals on select electronics during its Big Spring Sale, as it is wont to do during major sitewide savings events. Devices across its own Echo, Fire, and Kindle lineups will undoubtedly get the steepest discounts. It's also possible that we'll see some initial markdowns on Apple's brand-new MacBook Air and iPads, which are set for release on March 12. (It's not too soon: Last year's 15-inch M3 MacBook Air got a Big Spring Sale discount of $95 just two weeks post-launch.)
Finally, a selection of Prime-exclusive discounts is all but guaranteed, based on the aforementioned Seller Central post about the March 31 deadline.
Amazon's 2025 Big Spring Sale deals will likely be found at amazon.com/bigspringsale once the event goes live — stay tuned.

Can art and commerce co-exist in today's cinematic landscape? Is it possible to make prestige films that double as blockbusters? These are some of the questions haunting newly appointed Continental Studios head Matt Remick (Seth Rogen) in AppleTV+'s upcoming Hollywood satire The Studio.
SEE ALSO: SXSW: What are the movies and shows you need to know about? In the trailer above, Matt laments his new responsibilities. "I love movies," he tells producer Patty Leigh (Catherine O'Hara). "But now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them."
"The job is a meat grinder," she replies.
The Studio's trailer fully embraces the chaos of the Hollywood meat grinder, promising chaotic shoots, raucous awards shows, and heaps of celebrity cameos. Martin Scorsese and Ice Cube take meetings with Matt. Past Lives' Greta Lee and Women Talking director Sarah Polley lose it when Matt interferes with a key shot. Olivia Wilde and Zoë Kravitz have screaming meltdowns. That's only just scratching the surface of The Studio's many cameos, but don't for a second think the show is only a star-studded celebrity fest. It's also an incisive look at the increasingly embattled Hollywood of today.
In addition to Rogen and O'Hara, The Studio also stars Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Dewayne Perkins.
The Studio premieres March 7 at SXSW. It hits AppleTV+ March 26.
